Ironically, it made Dohee feel a little happy. The word “we” had stuck in his ears. Smiling, he asked Moonhyuk in return,

“Do you want to go?”

He asked if he wanted to go, but the answer Moonhyuk gave wasn’t quite what Dohee had expected.

“What about you?”

“Me? Is whether I go that important?”

Moonhyuk turned his body fully toward Dohee and nodded. Then, in a slightly glum voice, he said,

“If you’re not going, then I won’t go either…”

Oh, come on. How could someone say something that cute?

Dohee involuntarily opened his mouth. A wave of guilt swept over him, he suddenly felt like a terrible person for not wanting to take Moonhyuk along just minutes earlier. What was he supposed to say after that? Of course, it wasn’t like Moonhyuk had done anything wrong, he didn’t even know.

“You want to go, but if I say I don’t want to, you won’t go?”

“Yeah. I still won’t go.”

“Why not?”

“Just…”

“Just?”

“Just… I feel like it wouldn’t be fun without you…”

“But the others are nice to you.”

“…They are nice.”

“They treat you well and probably want to hang out with you too. So even if I’m not there, you still wouldn’t want to go?”

“Yeah. You’re the one I’m closest to… If you’re not there, I think I’ll feel awkward. And…”

As he spoke, Moonhyuk’s ears turned red. His face flushed bright pink, and it looked beautiful. Dohee couldn’t help but smile with satisfaction.

“And?”

“I’d feel kind of empty… I think I’d miss you. It just wouldn’t be fun…”

God, how could he be so cute? So lovable?

Dohee hadn’t asked the question hoping for that kind of answer, but it was as if Moonhyuk had read his heart and picked out all the exact words he wanted to hear. He was just too precious. Dohee found himself reaching out and brushing Moonhyuk’s bangs aside. Moonhyuk flinched slightly at first but soon leaned quietly into the touch.

At first, Dohee hadn’t wanted to bring Moonhyuk along, but now it really didn’t matter anymore. Who knew when they’d actually end up doing the meetup? Either way, it seemed more efficient, and honestly easier, to just keep Moonhyuk as tightly attached to him as possible until then.

It wasn’t that he wanted to make Moonhyuk into someone helpless without him. He didn’t think that would happen anyway. But little by little, he was starting to get greedy.

He wanted Moonhyuk to stay closer to him. He wanted him to feel a bit emptier in his absence. When Moonhyuk went somewhere without him, he hoped he’d spend the whole day thinking about Dohee. He hoped that, little by little, he’d take up more and more space in Moonhyuk’s heart.

Dohee asked gently,

“Then should we go together?”

“Yes!”

Moonhyuk beamed as he answered, and seeing that smile made Dohee feel happy all over again. He didn’t even know what to do with himself anymore. He didn’t even know when he started liking this man so much. But it didn’t matter. He wanted to make him smile. He wanted him to be happy, by his side, of course.

“Okay then. After the Demon Hunter update, let’s go when you’ve got time.”

“Yeah! I’m good anytime on the weekend, but I don’t know about the others.”

“4Evil works in an office, so if they come, it’ll probably be on the weekend too.”

“Then great!”

“Alright.”

After getting Dohee’s okay, Moonhyuk excitedly typed into the chat that weekends were good for him. The guild chat lit up with talk about where to meet, whether to drink, and so on. Moonhyuk seemed shy around strangers, but maybe the guildmates had done a good job making him feel included. Just the fact that he was thinking about going meant something.

“You’re usually kind of shy, though.”

“Ah, it’s fine.”

“You sure?”

“Yeah! You’re going with me, right?”

Looking at Moonhyuk smiling brightly, Dohee found himself speechless for a moment.

“…What? Do I have something on my face?”

Moonhyuk must’ve thought something was on his face from the way Dohee stared. He started feeling around his cheeks with his hand, and Dohee just laughed.

“No.”

How the hell was he supposed to say he wanted to kiss him?

Whenever Moonhyuk said something that sweet, Dohee couldn’t help imagining kissing those tempting lips. With that thought in mind, he typed something into the guild chat to rain on everyone’s parade. I’m miserable right now, so you all should suffer too.

Moonhyuk, sitting beside him, asked quietly. Dohee burst into laughter.

“It’s just to keep everyone on edge.”

“Oh…”

“You see me every day anyway, even if we don’t go.”

Dohee smiled at him. He still wanted to kiss him, but thankfully, he kept a tight grip on his self-control.

“True.”

“Let’s get that full clear and go together, in a good mood.”

“Okaaay.”

Moonhyuk smiled back, drawing out the word. Dohee shrugged and started cracking the whip in the chat.

While they were sitting together anyway, the two decided to knock out their weekly quests and headed to the Ladenska Mines side by side. Their prep for the Demon Hunter full clear was nearly complete.

I’ve already got my popcorn ready to nuke, three cans of beer in the fridge, a list of streamers lined up to watch full clears ‘cause I’m still low level, even did all my chores in advance and rewatched the trailers ten times while listening to epic music lying in bed… but I’m not that excited, y’know? Still, let’s do this right.
If they do emergency maintenance or another delay, I’m dropping this game starting tomorrow. Fuck, I’m so nervous. My BPM is through the roof; heart’s pounding like crazy.

Jubite tried to fix a mistake from the past (opened a jade box his parents got as a gift, which ruined the town lol), prayed to the gods and became a badass demon hunter. Then he found out it was all staged by humans with a fake religion who teamed up with demons to kill other humans and take over the world, so he lost it, got consumed by darkness, and went berserk. Adventurers have to kill Jubite (a.k.a. Demon Hunter) and recover the divine artifact. That’s it.
