TSBDRA 63: Don’t Ignore Me, Boyfriend
by starlightxelIt was just a brief touch.
Xu Xishuang kissed him quickly and abruptly, not wanting Yan Yushan to notice how nervous and inexperienced he was.
He tried to bolt right after, but the moment he stepped back, Yan Yushan pulled him right in again.
The bag he had been holding was casually tossed to the floor. Yan Yushan’s left hand gripped Xu Xishuang’s wrist, bringing him back in front of him, while his right hand firmly and gently cradled the back of Xu Xishuang’s head, tipping it up so he couldn’t retreat even an inch—and then Yan Yushan tilted his head and kissed him.
Yan Yushan’s kiss was just like him. It was outwardly gentle, but underneath, it carried a raw, barely-concealed intensity and dominance. He kissed Xu Xishuang without holding back, relentlessly taking over his lips and tongue, watching him with half-lidded eyes.
Yan Yushan was so tall that even with his head lowered, Xu Xishuang still had to keep lifting his chin under the pressure of the kiss. His tongue was tangled and teased until he couldn’t even catch a breath or swallow. The faint taste of apple in his mouth was completely stolen away, and his lips were left tingling and flushed from the forceful suck.
Xu Xishuang had just woken up and was still weak to begin with. Now, kissed nearly breathless by Yan Yushan, his whole body felt soft, flushed, and burning. His hands rested feebly against Yan Yushan’s chest. He couldn’t push him away and couldn’t escape.
Soft footsteps echoed nearby. Dr. Xu was walking down the corridor with a medical chart in hand, intending to ask if they had finished packing. He looked up—and saw the two of them locked in a deep kiss.
Dr. Xu: …
He pushed up his glasses, pretended he hadn’t seen a thing, quietly turned around, and walked away.
Xu Xishuang’s senses had been completely overwhelmed, lost in the kiss, entirely unaware that Dr. Xu had even come by. Yan Yushan, on the other hand, spared a lazy glance in the direction Dr. Xu had left, then went right back to tasting the roof of Xu Xishuang’s mouth.
By the time the kiss forced tears from the corners of Xu Xishuang’s eyes—glistening and trembling on his lashes as he teetered on the edge of suffocation—only then did Yan Yushan finally, mercifully, let him go. At the end, he mimicked what Xu Xishuang had done earlier and gave a light peck on his lips.
Xu Xishuang, gasping for breath, wiped his tears. His body felt boneless, slumped against Yan Yushan’s chest. He wanted to bite him in retaliation but didn’t even have the strength.
After taking full advantage of the situation, Yan Yushan not only didn’t play it coy—he had the nerve to keep teasing. He rubbed the inside of Xu Xishuang’s wrist, and seeing how thoroughly bullied Xu Xishuang looked, that touch of mischief in his nature was completely drawn out. Restraining his desire, he grinned and asked, “Were all your kiss scenes before just angled shots, Teacher Xu?”
Xu Xishuang could tell Yan Yushan was mocking how clumsy and unpracticed his kissing had been. He was worse than a total beginner. After catching his breath while leaning against Yan Yushan’s chest, he shot him a cool glance and replied, “Well, I certainly can’t compare to the battle-hardened Film Emperor Yan.”
“Don’t slander me like that, Teacher Xu,” Yan Yushan said with a laugh. “I’ve never filmed a single kiss scene.”
Xu Xishuang thought about it carefully—he was right. Ever since Yan Yushan’s debut, he had rarely taken on roles with romantic storylines, and there definitely hadn’t been any kiss scenes or intimate ones.
Still, Xu Xishuang couldn’t help feeling a bit sulky. He had never been in a relationship before, sure, but he’d watched plenty of BL novels and romance dramas with his younger cousin. Other people’s love stories were always sweet, sticky, and full of affection—so why was it, when it came to him and Yan Yushan, everything turned into bickering?
As expected, a man’s mouth is full of lies. Once he’s caught you, kissed you, maybe even slept with you, the sweet talk vanishes. Xu Xishuang thought coldly of that time Yan Yushan made someone cry just by scolding them and decided—if Yan Yushan ever dared talk to him like that, he would break up with him on the spot.
“Don’t be mad, Teacher Xu.” Yan Yushan was gently rubbing the inside of Xu Xishuang’s wrist, savoring the soft, delicate skin, his eyes full of amusement. “You took my first kiss, so me asking for one in return doesn’t seem too much, does it?”
With every “Teacher Xu” that came out of his mouth, the tips of Xu Xishuang’s ears turned a deeper red. He didn’t know how Yan Yushan figured out that he was particularly sensitive to that title, but soon he realized—there was an even more dangerous form of address that made him blush harder.
“Don’t ignore me, boyfriend,” Yan Yushan’s deep voice hummed low in his ear. “Next time I kiss you… should I ask for my boyfriend’s permission first?”
Xu Xishuang felt like both his reason and his heart had exploded at the same time. He froze for a second, then choked out a few garbled syllables from his throat—completely unable to form actual words.
…Where on earth did Yan Yushan learn to say things like that?
Knowing when to stop, Yan Yushan didn’t push further. He simply took the hand of his newly-official boyfriend, picked up his bag with the other, and walked out of the private hospital to get into the car home.
It wasn’t until they were seated in the back seat that Xu Xishuang finally came back to his senses.
Normally, he and Yan Yushan would each sit on one end, with space for two more people in between. But now, Yan Yushan was pressed right up against him, thigh to thigh. When Xu Xishuang glanced over, Yan Yushan turned to meet his gaze directly, silently asking what was wrong.
Xu Xishuang: …
What could he even say? It was perfectly normal for couples to sit together. But wasn’t Yan Yushan adapting to this new role a little too fast? And why was he so natural, so damn skilled at it?
He hadn’t been like this before. When had he secretly leveled up?
Feeling a bit competitive, Xu Xishuang narrowed his eyes and, pretending to be casual, rested his hand on Yan Yushan’s thigh—then deliberately scratched lightly.
The way the muscles tensed beneath his fingers gave him a satisfying sense of having struck back. He was just about to withdraw his hand when Yan Yushan caught it again and pinned it right where it was, not letting him go.
Xu Xishuang turned his head and saw that Yan Yushan was looking at his phone, seemingly handling something. Since his own hand hadn’t been released, he didn’t bother pulling it back either. With his free hand, he took out his phone and posted a quick update on Weibo, letting his fans know he was okay and had been discharged—just a simple message to ease their worries.
What he didn’t notice was the subtle curl of Yan Yushan’s lips as he typed on his phone, quietly thanking Liang Feng via WeChat for all the strategic advice, as well as his new “advisor” Song Yao, whom he’d only just added today.
He’d added Song Yao back when he was changing clothes at the hospital, and from him had gotten a few relationship tips. The two of them had reached an unspoken alliance—watching each other’s backs to keep their respective people in line.
As for Xu Xishuang’s slightly tsundere, teasing behavior, Yan Yushan was more than happy to play along. After all, if Xu Xishuang was the one making the moves, he was the one reaping the benefits.
The big-tailed wolf lazily flicked his tail, watching the beautiful cat flail and fumble about. He was simply waiting for the moment the cat would willingly leap into his arms—then he’d pick the perfect time to lick him clean.
After posting on Weibo, Xu Xishuang opened WeChat and began replying one by one to all the concerned messages he had received, telling everyone he was fine, discharged, and on the way home.
The other guests from the travel show had already heard from Yan Yushan that Xu Xishuang had woken up. Now, seeing him typing himself, they finally relaxed.
This episode of the travel show had already finished filming, so their “parent” figure, Shen Youlian, created a group chat and added everyone in. Then she initiated a group video call, wanting to see for herself how Xu Xishuang was doing.
Seeing Xu Xishuang in the camera—rosy-cheeked, looking like he hadn’t lost much weight, and clearly in good spirits—Shen Youlian and Yan Yao finally relaxed their overly worried, motherly hearts.
Bai Keke and Yan Yao took the lead in livening up the mood, telling Xu Xishuang some of the funny things that had happened during the show. Like Xiang Yao and the muscle guy who sat by the frozen lake all morning without catching a single fish, or how Yu Shudie ran into a local’s black dog in the forest, thought it was a bear, and burst into tears on the spot…
Suddenly, Xiang Yao asked, “Huh? Why isn’t Xiao Yan on camera?”
Yan Yao’s voice faltered for a moment. She looked at the partial figure beside Xu Xishuang, unsure how to hint to Xiang Yao.
Before she could say anything, the person beside Xu Xishuang leaned in even closer, turned toward the camera, and said, “I’m right here.”
Xiang Yao still wasn’t used to the fact that Yan Yushan liked Xu Xishuang. He froze for a moment. “Oh… so you two are together now?”
“But Xiao Xu, didn’t you say you were on your way home? How come you and him…” The more he spoke, the quieter his voice became. His expression slowly went blank, and by the end, he went completely silent—wishing he could strangle his past self for opening his mouth.
Everyone else: …Feels like we just learned something huge.
Yan Yao lifted her hand to cover the wild grin at the corner of her lips, leaving only her eyes gleaming with mischief. Xu Xishuang knew her too well—just one look at her expression and he could already guess what she was thinking. Helpless, he decided to come clean first, “I’m with Yan Yushan now. We’re… temporarily living together.”
Everyone else: !!!
“J-Just like that? You’re together?” Xiang Yao asked, still dazed.
Even Shen Youlian was momentarily stunned, but then her face softened into a kind smile. Bai Keke looked conflicted, Yu Shudie turned her head away, and Yan Yao let out a short, sharp squeal. At the moment, no one noticed her reaction.
Shen Youlian was the first to speak, “Congratulations! Wishing you both a long and happy future—and a wedding soon, I hope.”
Yan Yao and Bai Keke followed up right after. Yan Yao delivered a whole string of blessings—who knew how long she’d been holding onto that speech, finally getting to use it today. Bai Keke, on the other hand, pulled up a line from a friend who shipped the YanXu CP and read it out loud.
Then came Xiang Yao, who had finally processed the news and offered a simple, sincere blessing. Last was the awkward Yu Shudie, who only said one thing, “Wishing you happiness.”
Xu Xishuang, ears flushed red, kept his expression calm and gave a small nod. “Mm. We’ve decided to make it official during the next episode’s recording.”
Beside him, Yan Yushan couldn’t help but let out a quiet laugh. Hearing his boyfriend publicly introduce him and give him a title in front of everyone—it was a new experience, but one he quite enjoyed.
Xu Xishuang calmly wrapped things up. “We’re almost home, so I’ll stop here. See you all next time on the show.”
He ended the video call, turned off his phone, leaned back in his seat to catch his breath for a moment, then unlocked his phone again and sent out two messages—one to his manager, Zhao-jie, and the other to Chi Siyuan—telling them that he and Yan Yushan were now officially together.
He was beginning to understand why people liked showing off their relationships. That impulse to announce it to the world after falling in love felt unfamiliar, but strangely satisfying. Receiving blessings from others made him genuinely happy.
Zhao-jie had more or less seen this coming. She reacted calmly, gave him a few reminders, and told him she would coordinate with Yan Yushan’s agent to handle the remaining PR issues, so he didn’t need to worry about anything.
Chi Siyuan, on the other hand, took quite a while to respond. Even though he had suspected there was something between them while filming Bitter Summer, Xu Xishuang had later told him it was all a misunderstanding, so he hadn’t thought much more of it.
He hadn’t expected them to actually end up together! And the most surprising part was that he hadn’t noticed anything off at all. If it hadn’t been for that moment when Yan Yushan suddenly announced on the show that he was going to pursue Senior Xu, Chi Siyuan would’ve never guessed Yan Yushan had feelings like that for him.
After a bit of internal struggle, Chi Siyuan still offered his blessings to Xu Xishuang. Then, bracing himself, he gritted his teeth and summoned the courage to send a message to Yan Yushan—“threatening” him to treat Senior Xu well.
He got a reply almost immediately.
Yan Yushan: “I will.”
While Xu Xishuang was telling others about their relationship, Yan Yushan also messaged Yan Jingmo to share the news.
Yan Jingmo: “Congratulations. You finally got what you wanted.”
Yan Jingmo: “That kid looked a little off the last time I saw him. Was there a misunderstanding between you two? Did you clear it up? Just don’t let things fester.”
Yan Yushan: “We did. Thanks, ge.”
Yan Jingmo: “That’s good. Oh, and about that grand confession of yours on the show—Mom and Dad saw it too. Do they know you’re officially dating Xiao Xu now?”
Yan Yushan: “Not yet.”
Yan Jingmo: “Mm. Mom wants you to come home for a family gathering during the New Year. Dad feels the same. What’s your plan? Are you bringing Xiao Xu with you?”
Yan Yushan stared at that message for a while.
Ever since he entered the entertainment industry, his relationship with his family had been strained. Things had mellowed a bit over the years, but he still hadn’t gone home for New Year and only sent his parents a polite holiday greeting. After all, they hadn’t wanted to see him, and he hadn’t wanted to upset them.
Now, with their sudden change in tone, Yan Yushan wasn’t sure what to think. He doubted they’d truly changed their stance and started supporting his career. It felt more likely they were using this family dinner as a way to persuade him to come back and help his brother take over the family business.
That suspicion wasn’t unfounded. After all, in his first year in the industry, they had pulled the exact same tactic. A softened attitude masking their real agenda.
Instead of replying to Yan Jingmo right away, Yan Yushan turned to Xu Xishuang and asked, “Teacher Xu… boyfriend?”
Xu Xishuang’s ears turned red as he gave a soft “mm,” then added, “You should probably… keep calling me Teacher Xu.”
He couldn’t handle hearing Yan Yushan call him “boyfriend” just yet. He didn’t want to be blushing on camera the whole time, with the entire nation watching.
Yan Yushan chuckled. “Alright then, Teacher Xu. My parents want me to come home for New Year, but I want to spend it with you.”
“You should go home for the holiday,” Xu Xishuang said immediately.
He knew about Yan Yushan’s complicated relationship with his family and felt this was a great opportunity to ease the tension. Besides, on a day as important as New Year’s, being with family made sense.
Yan Yushan met Xu Xishuang’s gaze and saw the resolve in his eyes. He nodded slowly. “Okay.”
“I won’t be gone long,” he added, fingers gently interlocking with Xu Xishuang’s and rubbing them affectionately. “I’ll come back to be with you soon.”
He didn’t suggest bringing Xu Xishuang home with him. Not yet. He still didn’t know where his parents stood on his career or on his relationship. Until he was sure they would fully accept Xu Xishuang, he wouldn’t let him step into a situation where he might be hurt—not even a little.
Yan Yushan replied to Yan Jingmo: “I’ll go back alone.”
Yan Jingmo: “Alright.”
