Chapter 4 – Visiting the Set
by Salted FishChu Yin joined the crew to film the drama. In the beginning, he looked forward every day to Wei Lai visiting Yao Chaowu on set. He would frequently glance in Yao Chaowu’s direction, afraid of missing any chance to scold Wei Lai.
However, Wei Lai never showed up, while Yao Chaowu’s gaze toward Chu Yin grew increasingly strange.
Yao Chaowu couldn’t understand why Chu Yin often watched him with such eager anticipation and suspected he had ulterior motives. Yao Chaowu and Chu Yin were genuine rivals—their teams constantly competed for resources and status, suppressing each other’s prominence. On the surface, they built a CP with ambiguous, confusing chemistry, but behind the scenes, they wished nothing more than for the other to end up begging on the streets.
One day, Chu Yin and Yao Chaowu were filming a fight scene in the rain.
A thin mist hung over lush green bamboo groves. Chu Yin, dressed in flowing emerald robes, was suspended on wires as he fought Yao Chaowu mid-air.
When Wei Lai arrived carrying a bag of milk tea, he happened to see Chu Yin wielding a gleaming longsword, his toes lightly tapping the rooftop as he landed with effortless grace—cold, untouchable, and ethereal. Who could have guessed that behind the scenes, this man was actually a crybaby?
Standing behind the crew members, Wei Lai unconsciously raised the milk tea and took a sip of tapioca pearls.
“Brother Wei, here to see Brother Chaowu? Bringing treats for everyone again today?” a familiar crew member joked.
In the past, whenever Wei Lai visited the set, he would bring gifts for the entire crew, handling everything meticulously from top to bottom—like a mother hen afraid her son wasn’t eating enough.
But today, Wei Lai had only come to hand over some work. If Chu Yin hadn’t caught his eye, he would’ve just taken a quick glance and left.
Soon after, Yao Chaowu drifted onto the rooftop holding a black umbrella. The two exchanged a few moves before suddenly embracing and sliding off the roof together.
Wei Lai was so startled that a pearl got stuck in his throat, nearly choking him to death.
Director: “Cut! They fell off!”
