Chen Meixian’s expression darkened instantly upon hearing this. He shot Wei Lai a venomous glance and said, “Chu Yin, wait. I have something to say to you.”

    Chu Yin: “…”

Wei Lai rolled his eyes and half-blocked Chu Yin, saying, “Spit it out if you have something to say.”

Chen Meixian replied, “Wei Lai, this doesn’t concern you. Don’t get in the way.”

Wei Lai smirked, “Oh, so I’m in the way in the bathroom? But someone like you, a literal piece of shit, fits right in here.”

Chu Yin, standing behind Wei Lai, nodded in agreement. “Fits right in.”

Chen Meixian didn’t want to waste any more breath arguing with Wei Lai, the shrew. He turned to Chu Yin and said, “I have something to say to you alone. Chu Yin.”

Wei Lai sneered, “Oh, whispering at your age? Forget about it!”

Chu Yin nodded again. “Forget about it.”

Chen Meixian was practically on the verge of passing out from anger at the way these two kept echoing each other. With four men blocking the bathroom doorway, the atmosphere was as tense as a showdown at the Forbidden City. Yao Chaowu tried to mediate, “Hey, the bathroom’s no place for a chat. There’s a garden outside—perfect for catching up.”

Chen Meixian pressed, “After all these years of friendship, won’t you even give me a chance to say one word?”

Wei Lai laughed coldly. “Do you know how much it costs to get a word with our superstar Chu Yin? If you want to reminisce, make an appointment with his manager—that’s me.”

Chu Yin pushed his sunglasses up. “Make an appointment.”

Chen Meixian: “…” Damn it, the dog barks louder with its master’s backing.

    Yao Chaowu: “…”

Wei Lai’s mood for using the bathroom had been thoroughly ruined. Ignoring Chen Meixian’s face, which was uglier than a cesspool, he pushed his IV stand forward like an empress propping up her eunuch and swaggered off with Chu Yin in tow.

In the hallway, Wei Lai asked Chu Yin, “Do you want to know what Chen Meixian wanted to say to you?”

    Chu Yin shook his head.

Wei Lai said, “I thought you might choose to talk to him alone for a bit.”

Chu Yin thought for a moment and asked, “Why?”

Wei Lai replied, “…Good question. Probably because that’s how it always goes in dramas.”

    “Absolutely not.”

Chu Yin loved it when Wei Lai shielded him. Even if talking to Chen Meixian wouldn’t change anything, why waste Wei Lai’s effort?

As they walked, Chu Yin suddenly glanced back.

    Wei Lai asked, “What’s wrong?”

Chu Yin pursed his lips. “Feels like someone’s watching me.”
