    Chapter Index

The newcomer was immediately pulled into the YY channel and received an unprecedented warm welcome—

Everything Breaks & 2B: “You’re not a noob healer, right?”

Passing Master hesitated: “Uh, that depends on your definition of noob…”

Everything Breaks: “You can heal your teammates.”

Passing Master waited for more: “And?”

    2B: “That’s it.”

Passing Master confidently replied: “Then I’m definitely not a noob.”

Thousand Mountains let out an almost inaudible scoff and nudged the half-asleep husky with his non-casted leg, as if saying, “They don’t know what they’re missing, right?”

The little husky tilted its head at its owner for a moment before considerately letting out a long howl, just like a wolf.

Satisfied, Thousand Mountains turned back to the screen, maneuvered his character next to Passing Master, and casually opened the other’s equipment panel—which was publicly viewable—and then… ascended.

Every player has their own ambitions. For instance, the guy at the top of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce wanted to dominate the world, first conquering Holy Light Sanctuary before setting his sights on all of Huaxia. As for Thousand Mountains himself, his goal was to become the God of War—he’d even give up his purple-tier gear if someone could give him a peerless master to PK. The Ghost Server Legion, on the other hand, made it their mission to constantly push the limits of human decency. And this player in front of him…

No, this wasn’t just a player—this was literally the reincarnation of Guanyin1Goddess and Bodhisattva of compassion, mercy, and kindness.!

Twenty-five gem slots in a full gear set, and not a single one was used to boost spell damage?! No, not one! All twenty-five slots were either increasing his own HP or enhancing support skills!!! This guy didn’t even need to try in PvP—just a tiny trickle of holy water from between his fingers was enough to make a squishy’s HP bar burst like a dam!!! Open his fingers a little wider, and Assassins and Blood Warriors would instantly spring back to life like carp leaping out of water!!! Fully extend his palm, and a purebred Blood Bull tank with an empty HP bar would straight-up get a second life, damn it!!!

How could someone like this not have a fixed team? It defied logic. But what was even more illogical was that he’d actually made it through solo PvP matches. _(: з」∠)_

“Welcome, Master,” 2B greeted the new teammate warmly in YY. “I really hope you’re reliable, ’cause our team already has one noob, haha~~”

While speaking, 2B also inspected Passing Master’s gear—since they were all on the same screen, it didn’t hurt to check out a teammate’s stats…

    And then, he too ascended.

“Don’t call me ‘Master,’ just call me Passing,” a clear yet slightly reserved voice came through YY. “Hey, everyone.”

Everything Breaks: “Oh, so you’re passing [a] master2Someone who passed by a master. [a] is not in text, I had to add it because it doesn’t work the same way in English. Both parts say “passing master”., not [a] passing master3A master who is passing by..”

Passing: “Yeah, yeah, you nailed it, haha.”

Mad Lad & 2B & Thousand Mountains (internally): I thought I understood at first, but now… are these two even speaking human language? _(:з」∠)_

Everything Breaks wasn’t sure if Passing was being humble or genuinely lacked skill, so he also casually inspected his teammate’s stats since he was standing right next to 2B…

And thus, another purified soul quietly rose, joining the others already floating in the air, completing a full mahjong table.

“By the way,” Mad Lad finally took the chance to ask the question he’d been dying to ask, “I know your 2v2 match speed must be crazy fast—any team would treat you like treasure. But how did you clear solo PvP? Did the players you faced just let you win? Or did you have some kind of buff? Like, uh… ‘Love’s Sacrifice’ or something…”

“Actually… you could say I did have a buff…” Passing suddenly grew hesitant.

Mad Lad didn’t believe such a skill existed, but his curiosity was piqued, so he deliberately asked, “What buff is that powerful?”

The three floating teammates also pricked up their ears. How could a healer with basically—no, absolutely—garbage DPS possibly grind through solo PvP? And Huaxia Online definitely didn’t have any buffs that could make opponents surrender or instantly turn their combat power into trash…

“The buff was called, ‘Big Brother if you intentionally lose to me I’ll give you 1,000 Huaxia Coins and if the price isn’t right we can negotiate please have mercy on this bodhisattva healer.'”

    “……”

The four of them tilted their heads slightly, gazing at the starry sky through their respective screens. The vast universe was still full of unknowns beyond the limits of human comprehension—clearly, their knowledge was too shallow…

The prolonged silence made Passing uneasy, and he timidly asked, “Is… is this buff a little too shameless?”

“No!” The three teammates snapped out of their daze and exclaimed in unison. “This is a god-tier buff.”

Only one teammate remained sorrowfully staring at the stars: “Why didn’t you use this buff on me…”

Passing: “Assassin Brother, you’re a good person!”

As the three spectators analyzed the implications of this conversation, a line of text popped up in the chat:

[Local] Strawberry Tanghulu: Look who I found! Passing, you’re actually playing in the Arena, hahaha! We’ve been looking for a healer!!! This is fate!!!

Along with this message, four players arrived in front of their five-man squad. Judging by their IDs, all four were from Fairy Dreamland—meaning they were from the same server as Passing Master.

This realization made the other four teammates tense up. Better the devil you know—even though Passing had already joined their team, there was no guarantee he wouldn’t change his mind. After all, they’d finally managed to snag a healer.

    [Local] Passing Master: Hey.

And he was even greeting them so naturally and warmly…

[Local] Passing Master: Who are you guys?

Couldn’t you have asked that first?! _(: з」∠)_

    After a brief awkward silence—

[Local] Strawberry Tanghulu: We’re from the Ring of Power…

[Local] Passing Master: Ohhh, I know that legion!

[Local] Strawberry Tanghulu: Doesn’t matter, I know you. Fairy Dreamland’s G-Cup Healer.

[Local] Passing Master: I don’t really like that nickname >_<

[Local] Strawberry Tanghulu: Why? I think it’s catchy.

[Local] Caramel MM: Tanghulu, your topic derailment has reached the Indian Ocean—does your family know?!

[Local] Caramel MM: Passing Master, we’re a fixed team with a 72% win rate. Our healer just went offline unexpectedly. If you join us, our win rate will probably rise to 80%. No matter how many points we have, we’ll wait for you to hit 500 before entering Lover’s Constellation. After that, if you want to keep playing solo, you can find another team. If not, you can stay with us. What do you say?

[Local] Passing Master: I already have a team.

[Local] Caramel MM: I see—just Thousand Mountains from Holy Light Sanctuary, right? No matter how strong he is, two fists can’t beat four hands. PUG teams have no future, and we’re from the same server—it’s only natural we team up.

[Local] Passing Master: Who’s Thousand Mountains? I don’t know him. All I know is Mad Lad is my savior, and the moment I entered the Team Battlefield, I saw my savior looking for a healer. This is fate calling—it has nothing to do with servers.

    [Local] Caramel MM: …You win!

Caramel MM and her three teammates had zero interest in the past and present between Fairy Dreamland’s G-Cup Healer and Summit Server’s Assassin. Since his stance was so firm, there was no point forcing it—twisting arms wouldn’t make the melon sweet. Without another word, they turned and left.

Jiang Yang was moved to tears and vowed to perform one good deed a day from now on. TAT

Some were happy, some were bitter—

[Party] 2B Fighter Jet: “Who’s Thousand Mountains? HAHAHAHA! You didn’t even say anything and still got shot full of holes—that’s fate calling…”

[Party] No Birds Over a Thousand Mountains: “Fuck off!”

    [Party] Everything Breaks: [Candle]

[Party] No Birds Over a Thousand Mountains: “I don’t care if you’re a master or a noob! Healer, look closely! Your granddaddy is Thousand Mountains! No Birds Over a Thousand Mountains! The Thousand Mountains who’s dominated nearly every server in Huaxia!!!”

[Party] Passing Master: “Sorry, sorry, I was too focused on my savior earlier and didn’t notice your ID. Greetings, No Birds Over a Thousand Mountains, dominator of Huaxia!”

[Party] No Birds Over a Thousand Mountains: “Nice to meet you [Smile]”

Damn it, he reflexively replied and even used a quick-key emoji! TAT

The little poaching incident actually made this all-350-point team even more united. 2B and the others also learned about Mad Lad’s noble deeds from Passing Master, so among the teammates’ amazed murmurs, Mad Lad clicked to enter the real Team Battlefield.

The system soon displayed their opponents’ names—

[Long River Sunset] Heartless Red Bean – 350 points

[Long River Sunset] Dao Dao Dao – 350 points

[Long River Sunset] Hydrangea – 350 points

[Long River Sunset] Lonely Pen – 350 points

[Long River Sunset] Happy Dollar – 350 points

Judging by their unified server, this was either a close-knit team or at least a group of acquaintances. And based on their scores, they were either just starting out or had been losing nonstop.

The list gradually faded and disappeared as a loading bar appeared on everyone’s screen—20%, 44%, 78%, 99%, 100%!

After a blinding flash of white light, the randomly selected map slowly materialized—Count William’s Ancient Castle!

Mad Lad: “I’m on the second floor. Which floor are you guys on? Any sign of the enemy?”

2B: “I’m on the top floor—no enemies here.”

Everything Breaks: “Third floor—no enemies spotted.”

Thousand Mountains: “I’m… where am I?”

Passing: “I’m on the first floor. There are four—no, all five of them are here with me!”

Mad Lad: “Pop a Speed Scroll and run to the second floor—I’ll cover you!”

Passing: “I’m already on my way! Don’t worry, running is my specialty! I definitely won’t… Ah!”

    Mad Lad: “You died?!”

    Passing: “The enemies died.”

    Mad Lad: “How many?”

Passing: “Two just now. Now it’s three.”

Passing: “No, all five. He landed a crit.”

    2B: “Who?”

Passing: “No Birds Over a Thousand Mountains, dominator of Huaxia.”

Mad Lad: “Where the hell did he come from?”

Passing: “The coffin at the stairway corner.”

Thousand Mountains: “Having a healer is so damn convenient. Those healing skills were taking up so many of my hotkey slots! Now I can clear ’em out and replace ’em with all attack skills, hahaha…”

Passing: “Then why did you originally…”

Mad Lad & Everything Breaks & 2B: “Fucking pick Wandering Physician in the first place?!!”

Though both teams were at 350 points, Long River Sunset’s squad was clearly the weakest of the weak, to the point where they were wiped out by just two healers. Such a smooth start was unexpected for the little squad, so they faced the second round with even more confidence. As the saying goes, when luck is on your side, everything goes smoothly—and it was absolutely true. The second round was basically a carbon copy of the first, except Long River Sunset 350 was replaced by Wandering the Four Seas 350. Once again, before the five teammates could even regroup, Mad Lad, Everything Breaks, and Passing teamed up to wipe them out. Of course, Passing’s healing output was the MVP—just as the enemy had ground Everything Breaks (a semi-tank) down to within an inch of his life, Passing casually waved a hand. It wasn’t even a high-HP, long-cast ultimate—just a medium Insta Heal, and Everything Breaks’ HP bar immediately regrew like a gecko’s tail, lively and bouncing. Sure, it was a bit shorter than at full health, but it was more than enough to shatter the enemy’s already crumbling morale.

The third, fourth, and fifth matches were against PUG teams with average scores between 400 and 490—temporary squads from different servers, just like Mad Lad’s team. But reaching 400+ points meant they’d already been grinding together for a while, so these two teams took slightly more effort to defeat. Still, with a full 5v5 and no shortcuts, they cleared the matches without major mishaps.

By 5:00 PM Beijing time, the 350-point squad had ascended to the 500-point tier.

The promotion came so quickly and suddenly that the five teammates were caught off guard—as if they’d blinked, and the distant stars they’d been admiring had turned into meteors crashing right in front of them. Now that they were up close, the stars had lost their glittering charm. _(: з」∠)_

As the team leader, Mad Lad felt it was his duty to remind his teammates: “Do we keep going? If anyone wants to stop now and take the promotion, speak up.”

Thousand Mountains: “Of course we keep going! My hammer hasn’t even left its sheath yet!”

2B: “Then what were you swinging earlier? _(:з」∠)_”

Thousand Mountains: “The sheath itself. Got a problem with that?”

Everything Breaks: “Your hammer’s sheath is pretty lethal.”

Thousand Mountains: “Someone tell me—is this guy genuinely complimenting me or being sarcastic…”

2B: “Let’s get back to the promotion discussion. I also want to keep going.”

Everything Breaks: “Based on earlier matches, the higher our score, the stronger our opponents will be. So I want to keep going—to test myself against real experts.”

Passing: “I’m just a brick in the team leader’s wall—wherever he moves me, I’ll go.”

Mad Lad: “Round six, let’s go!”

At the same time, in a temporary YY channel for another victorious team in the parallel Team Battlefield—

Water Phantom: “We’ve hit 500. Should we promote?”

War-Sorrel: “500 is just the baseline. Once we enter Lover’s Constellation, it probably won’t even be competitive.”

Seven Injuries Fist: “Agreed. Let’s do a few more matches.”

Fire Cloud Evil God: “I’m fine either way. Neutral.”

War-Bodhi Patriarch: “People like you are the worst. I also vote to keep going. Three to one—Water Phantom, as team leader, you’re outvoted.”

[System] Water Phantom agrees to continue the battle.

[System] The next round begins in two minutes. Opponents: 2B Fighter Jet, Mad Lad, Passing Master, No Birds Over a Thousand Mountains, Everything Breaks.

    War-Sorrel: “I think I just saw something I shouldn’t have…”

War-Bodhi Patriarch: “Captain, I was wrong—please beat me up. TAT”

Seven Injuries Fist: “Ghost Server core members, Huaxia Dominion’s leader, plus Thousand Mountains… is it too late to quit?”

Fire Cloud Evil God: “This lineup makes me feel like the world is out to get me…”

    Water Phantom: “……”

Sorrel & Bodhi & Seven Injuries & Evil God: “Captain?”

Water Phantom took off his headset, muted his mic, removed his glasses, and carefully wiped them. His bedroom was above a commercial storefront—a KTV with mediocre soundproofing. At this moment, the off-key singing of various patrons drifted up in a chaotic chorus. He listened carefully, trying to pick out the one song that resonated with his current mood—

Cold icy rain lashes against my face~~~ Warm tears mix with the freezing rain~~~ TAT
