by LiliumKarhan lowered his guard because he was dumbfounded, Aizen took the opportunity and attacked. The tip of his sword tried to cut into the skin of Karhan’s chest where his heart was, but Karhan quickly protected his body with mana so the sword could not go in any further.
“Absurd.”
Karhan found the whole situation ridiculous. Because of his power, Aizen’s sword was stuck in him, unable to move forward or retreat.
“Release Ruru’s curse!”
Sibel shouted loudly. Ruru was dangling from his side.
“Did you create these plants?”
Karhan asked Sibel, and Sibel nodded. Karhan looked at the plants and flowers with curiosity. He also observed the strength of the vines binding his summoned beast.
“Truly curious.”
His face turned red and began to swell, and a sword was pointed at his heart, but Karhan was filled with curiosity more than anger.
“Do you really think this is possible with mana?”
At that moment Karhan’s eyes gleamed strangely. The plants Sibel made bloom began to wriggle.
“What now….”
When the change started Karhan was startled, and yellow flowers began to explode one by one.
“Aizen! Move away!”
Aizen let go of the holy sword and stepped back. He was so desperate he rolled on the ground and in an instant got far away.
Bang, bang bang, bang!
As the flowers started exploding, Karhan’s body flailed.
“Are you alright?”
Sibel went to Aizen and checked his condition. Ruru also came down from Sibel’s side and held tightly onto Aizen’s leg.
“What did you do?”
“Do you think I just wasted 3 years doing nothing? I grew a lot.”
Even while the two talked, the explosions continued, and blasts erupted from the giant summoned beast’s body too.
Soon the whole land was filled with yellow pollen.
“Kof.”
Sibel began coughing on the pollen from his own summoned plants.
“Did I push it too far….”
Now that the situation had escalated this much, Sibel started to feel afraid of how to handle it.
“There seems to be no way except to kill him.”
Aizen brushed off his body and stood up from the ground.
Bang!
Karhan’s weakened summoned beast was smashed to pieces under Shanti’s foot. Sibel stared at the spot where Karhan was, now hidden in clumps of pollen.
Tap, tap.
Then Karhan, his whole body red, came out through the smoke.
“Haa… it has been a long time. This feeling.”
What feeling was he talking about? Absurdity? Disgust? Or pain?
As Sibel let his imagination run, the moment he blinked, Karhan’s horribly reddened face was suddenly right in front of his eyes.
Aizen tried to move to block Karhan, but his body stiffened in place like stone. An immense pressure was crushing him.
Karhan’s violet eyes slowly moved back and forth between Sibel’s two eyes.
‘Damn, why is this guy coming so close.’
Sibel pulled his head back, but Karhan’s gaze was relentless. Aizen’s holy sword was still stuck in Karhan’s shoulder.
“……”
Sibel carefully raised his hand and placed it over the holy sword.
That small action surprised everyone. Both Aizen and Karhan looked at Sibel’s hand gripping the sword hilt in disbelief.
“First, please release Ruru’s curse….”
Sibel’s cautious words were shocking enough to barely be heard.
“How did you put your hand on that?”
Karhan asked in a low voice. How? It was just there so he grabbed it. Sibel had no particular thought about it.
But Karhan, who even now had covered the skin around the holy sword with mana so that the blade would not touch his flesh directly, was shocked by Sibel’s act.
Like he felt no discomfort from the holy sword at all….
Karhan’s eyes gleamed. He must have it. He must have this one’s heart.
Karhan’s hand snapped out and sharp claws were about to pierce Sibel’s throat.
Rumble–
A pair of giant black wings rose from Sibel’s shadow, and knocked Karhan’s hand away.
“…Haha.”
Karhan, seeing the black wings, laughed helplessly. His eyes swept up and down Sibel’s body from head to toe for a long time.
Shhh. Karhan’s swollen, red, ruptured face slowly began to regenerate. The surrounding pollen also cleared.
Aizen’s body began to move. His hand overlapped Sibel’s hand that was holding the hilt of the holy sword. When the sword tried to go in deeper, Karhan grabbed and pulled the blade.
White flames sparked from his hand and his hand melted away. As expected, when a demon directly touched a holy sword without using mana, this was the natural result.
Karhan regenerated his hand back into a whole form after the test was over.
“What did you say your name was?”
Karhan looked at Sibel and asked.
“Sibel.”
“Sibel of Valheim.”
Karhan repeated Sibel’s name a couple more times. The murky air around them slowly cleared, and with one wave of Karhan’s hand the giant summoned beast sank back into the ground.
When the series of actions ended, silence fell. Sibel looked around at Karhan and everyone else.
‘Why are they all like this? Someone should say something first.’
It felt like a staring contest. In the end, Karhan was the one to open his mouth first.
“You betrayed me, Ruru.”
Petty bastard. He started with that? Sibel clicked his tongue inwardly. And Ruru was originally the bat-like type anyway! If he was going to be that petty about it, he couldn’t even call himself Ruru’s master.
“……”
Ruru lay flat, pressing his forehead to the floor.
“Please spare me.”
Ruru begged for his life. Then Aizen grabbed him by the scruff and lifted him into the air.
“Is that what you think you should be doing in front of us?”
“No, not me! I mean His Majesty the Demon King and the people here!”
Ruru made excuses in a rush. Tears welled up in his eyes.
“Of, of course if you spare me too, I will gather the mana I bring once every three hundred years faster, and I will behave well….”
With every word Ruru spoke, Sibel’s chest ached.
“Can’t you really release Ruru?”
To be honest, Sibel did not think he could kill Karhan. Because Karhan was again standing before them in a whole form, just like when they first faced him.
It was easy to guess that even if they used more power, even if one of them got hurt or died, killing Karhan would be extremely difficult.
Karhan fell silent in thought. His snake-like gaze kept sweeping over Sibel, then at last it dropped to the grass that had sprouted on the dry ground.
“I get along well with other Demon King seniors… so, how about you try to get along peacefully too….”
Of course even as he said this, Sibel did not expect it to work. He only needed to buy a little more time with pointless words.
Was there really no choice but to fight to the death? But…
“Once every three hundred years, one day.”
Karhan made a proposal.
“Yes?”
“If you make a contract to give me one day of yours every three hundred years, I will release the seal of that curse.”
“What…?”
Sibel was flustered. What would he even do with that? He glanced at Aizen. Aizen’s face was twisted with anger. If he agreed, it felt like his neck would be strangled not by Karhan but by Aizen.
“What would you do with a day. Kill me, hit me, do some weird experiment…?”
“I will add a condition that I will not harm you.”
Hearing Karhan’s added words, Sibel thought.
Then there was nothing to lose? Wasn’t it just asking him to hang out for a day.
“Alright?”
Sibel readily accepted the proposal without thinking. But as soon as he finished speaking, Karhan’s black smoke rushed toward Sibel.
“No, Your Majesty!”
Ruru shouted loudly. At that moment, from the place where Ruru’s heart was, a black lump broke through his skin and flew out. It went into Karhan’s hand. But the black smoke that came toward Sibel pierced through Sibel’s heart.
“Wha-what is this.”
Sibel opened and closed his mouth in shock. Was he just scammed? Contracts should be cautious, but he had pushed it through without even one contract paper?
Sibel glared at Karhan with all his strength.
