by LiliumChapter 11 Potential Risks
For Omegas using suppressants, continuously releasing low doses of Alpha pheromones in enclosed spaces can trigger a passive pheromone rejection response within the Omega’s body while under suppressant. This heightens the Omega’s sensitivity upon subsequent exposure to Alpha pheromones.
Specifically, this disrupts the protective mechanism formed between the suppressant and the Omega’s body, potentially rendering the suppressant ineffective for the Omega in the short term.
The success of this operation hinges on the quality of the Alpha’s pheromones and the Alpha’s ability to control the dosage of pheromones released.
Top-grade Alpha Lu Kongyun’s scheming use of his abilities and medical expertise to manipulate an unsuspecting Omega into heat was already a disgraceful act. To make matters worse, his plan was exposed midway when the blackmailer saw through his intentions and fled, forcing Lu Kongyun to resort to coercion to bring the person back. This made his use of professional knowledge appear even more absurd, foolish, cheap, and ultimately ineffective.
Lu Kongyun clenched his jaw, turned on the warm air, and retrieved the towel to dry the blackmailer’s hair once more.
Now that the blackmailer had seen through and mocked him, it was hard not to imagine the blackmailer would escalate threats upon waking, perhaps even upload the video directly.
Fortunately, there were still nearly eight hours left. He had to extract something valuable.
The blackmailer, under the influence of truth serum, stared at Lu Kongyun. Droplets hung from his lashes, it was impossible to tell if they were rain or tears. With a soggy cotton ball stuffed in his mouth, his words came out muffled: “Mmph.”
Lu Kongyun didn’t bother for the tweezers. He simply reached in with two gloved fingers, pulled out the cotton ball, and tossed it into the trash. “What are you saying?”
Saliva trailed down his fingers from the blackmailer’s mouth to the collar of his shirt.
“Wipe yourself.” The blackmailer murmured. “You’re wet.”
“It’s fine.”
After drying the blackmailer’s hair, Lu Kongyun draped the towel over his shoulders and wrapped it around him, watching him. Though Lu Kongyun had never marked an Omega before, it was a biological instinct, something all Alphas would do. But before that, he needed to understand the other’s basic physical condition.
“Yu Xiaowen. Have you ever been temporarily marked?” he asked.
When asking this question, Lu Kongyun already had a preconceived answer in mind. Because the other was an Omega who was very easy to handle, extremely prone to heat, and therefore had to wear an inhibitor patch every day.
But the blackmailer’s eyes flickered, and he replied, “No.”
“…”
He approached the blackmailer and reached up to remove the patch from the back of his neck.
The blackmailer watched him, his watery brown eyes reflecting Lu Kongyun’s figure.
Lu Kongyun pressed and massaged the gland, checking for any scar tissue left from prolonged biting.
The blackmailer fluttered his eyelids. A droplet slid down the side of his nose, and his reflection instantly turned vivid m.
“Lu Kongyun.” Under the truth serum’s influence, the blackmailer called his name in slow breaths.
Lu Kongyun leaned closer, wiping the tears from his cheek with his other hand.
“Yu Xiaowen. I’m asking you seriously. Answer me honestly. Don’t lie. How do you handle your heat each time? An Alpha helps you, right? Like that colleague of yours last time. Hasn’t anyone given you a temporary mark? Marking an Omega who’s taken on your scent to declare exclusive ownership is every Alpha’s instinct, and the most effective way to relieve your physical urges. You never asked for it?”
The blackmailer stared at Lu Kongyun’s lips.
He licked his own.
“… That the longest sentences you ever said to me.”
“…” Dr. Lu’s words were brief again: “Answer me.”
“I didn’t.” The blackmailer replied.
“You never asked an Alpha for a temporary mark?”
The blackmailer: “Mhm.”
“And the Alpha never wanted to mark you?”
The blackmailer’s mouth opened, but he didn’t say anything.
“I can’t…” After a moment, he managed three words before biting his lip. His already pale lips looked even whiter.
“I can’t be…”
“I can’t be.”
Stomach: “Gurgle~”
Words choked in his throat, but his stomach spoke first.
The blackmailer’s attention shifted to the rumbling. He stared at his own stomach.
Lu Kongyun lowered his hand.
The back of the blackmailer’s neck felt soft to the touch, clearly not someone with much experience. Perhaps he truly relied on excessive drug injections to suppress the physiological instincts of an Omega.
But everyone’s constitution is different; it’s hard to say.
In any case, if the blackmailer had little experience with deep bonding with an Alpha and abused drugs, such an Omega might not easily enter a state of submission.
Trouble.
“Yu Xiaowen, tell me about your case.” Lu Kongyun changed the subject, wiping the water droplets from his hands with a disinfectant wipe. “So your reason for approaching me was indeed my status after all.”
“You came to me instead of my father, just as you said last time. Because I’m ‘not dangerous.’ Is that right?”
“…Not dangerous. Cute.” The blackmailer replied.
Lu Kongyun struggled to process the last word. After a few seconds of disjointed reception, he sat straighter and furrowing his brow. “You… are seriously messed up.”
“Correct.” The blackmailer replied.
Lu Kongyun: “.”
Even after the truth serum injection, he was still being toyed with by the blackmailer. This feeling was far from pleasant.
He wanted to hurry up.
“Growl~ growl growl~” This time, the blackmailer’s stomach protested even more intensely.
The blackmailer froze: “Today at noon… meeting, didn’t eat… tonight, after work, I’ll come find you.”
Lu Kongyun stood up and fetched the food he’d just brought inside for the blackmailer. He opened a bag of bread, broke off a piece, and fed it to the blackmailer. The blackmailer bit down on the bread and slowly swallowed it.
After finishing the piece, Lu Kongyun opened the unfinished water bottle and held it to the blackmailer’s lips. “Drink more.”
The blackmailer lifted his eyes to look at Lu Kongyun, then sucked on the bottle opening. He was obedient, drinking more water until he tilted his chin up, sucking every last drop from the bottle. Only when Lu Kongyun squeezed the bottle did he pull it from the blackmailer’s mouth.
“Don’t swallow the bottle.”
The blackmailer shook his head, his Adam’s apple bobbing as his arousal clearly surged again. His voice remained strained yet breathy: “I won’t eat it. The bottle… I want to eat your mouth.”
The empty bottle creaked under the squeeze.
Lu Kongyun tossed the bottle aside, gripped the blackmailer’s neck, and lifted his bowed head.
The blackmailer grew increasingly agitated, kicking his legs and clawing at the armrests with his bound hands: “I’m uncomfortable. Quick… let me go! I’m uncomfortable! I order you…”
It seemed close enough.
“Yu Xiaowen. I’m going to mark you.”
The blackmailer stared blankly into his eyes, his heightened emotions slightly subsiding. He murmured, “…You can’t mark me.”
Lu Kongyun raised an eyebrow in surprise, letting out a cold laugh. “So confident.”
Even if there was no emotional connection between him and the blackmailer, at his rank, temporarily marking an Omega should be a piece of cake.
He leaned forward, undoing the straps binding the blackmailer’s hands. “Want to give it a try?”
The blackmailer’s breath, carrying pheromones and the scent of sweet bread, brushed against Lu Kongyun’s cheek. Instead of answering yes or no, he simply stared at Lu Kongyun’s face, desire nearly overflowing from his eyes alongside tears.
The moment his hands were free, the blackmailer’s arms wrapped around Lu Kongyun’s neck. Lu Kongyun used the momentum to pull him toward the sofa, then pressed him down onto it.
“Ouch! Easy…”
The body pinned beneath him radiated intense heat. The curves felt identical to those he’d seen at the office that afternoon. The difference was that back then, they’d been rigidly upright, whereas now they undulated like waves, seeking him out and yielding eagerly, both fervent and supple.
Typically, when an Alpha and Omega bond, they mark each other after passion. But what was happening now was a simple marking to enhance the truth serum’s effect, roughly akin to an injection. Yet Lu Kongyun still instinctively adopted this position, driven by an Alpha’s biological urge.
He didn’t want to be like a dog… yet instinct still chose the most natural position. That was one reason he disliked this whole affair.
The pheromones made him dizzy, so he closed his eyes and buried his head. His canine teeth sought out and covered the neck, which was abnormally swollen from the heat. The glands beneath his jaw began to itch. The Alpha’s pheromones rapidly filled the root canals of his canine teeth, making his tooth roots ache and swell, craving something soft and fragrant to bite into. Like the blackmailer had just eaten bread. Like a starving animal. That was the nature of an Alpha-Omega bond.
He felt something crawl across his hand, causing him to hesitate before opening his eyes. He saw the blackmailer’s fingers cover his own, interlocking and tightening their grip.
He stared at the two hands for a moment. The blackmailer said, “I love you.”
“… …” Lu Kongyun asked the blackmailer, “Oh, really? Who am I?”
The blackmailer chuckled softly, breath ragged.
Blackmailer: “You’re… the little rascal… Hurry… That’s right, the little rascal… Hurry…”
The blackmailer groaned in pain.
Ding.
The doorbell rang.
Lu Kongyun froze, pausing to consider who would come looking for him in the middle of the night during a downpour. He wiped his lips with the back of his hand, stood up, walked to the door, and activated the security monitor.
Lu Qifeng?
Why was he here? And he had the door code. The lights were on inside; he might just walk in if Lu Kongyun didn’t open the door.
Lu Kongyun turned decisively, scooped the person off the sofa with force, and headed up the stairs. The person in his arms struggled and wriggled, growing increasingly unruly. Ruffling his collar, undoing his buttons. Even slipping a hand inside. Unable to stop him with his hands, Lu could only channel his strength into his legs, swiftly kicking open the door to a guest bedroom on the second floor. He dropped the person inside and shut the door. After a moment’s thought, he retrieved the key from the cabinet beside the elevator shaft, turned back, and locked the door from the outside.
He completed these actions with fluid precision, then quickly descended the stairs to the entrance.
Lu Qifeng froze upon seeing his younger brother’s state.
“Xiao Yun, what happened? Did you get into a fight?”
Lu Kongyun didn’t respond, stepping back to let him inside.
Lu Qifeng took a step into the room, immediately wrinkling his nose in disgust. He adjusted the intensity of his wristband.
But upon closer inspection, the scent inside wasn’t just the aggressive aura of another S-class Alpha. There was something else… He stared at his younger brother for a few seconds. Wet hair, an open-collared shirt, and that unchanging, composed expression.
Only the color of his cheeks showed a slight change.
Lu Kongyun lowered his gaze under his brother’s appraising, amused stare, then silently buttoned his shirt.
Lu Qifeng felt a flicker of surprise. He studied his younger brother for a moment, glanced at the sofa, and sniffed again. Then, with a knowing smile, he let out a soft chuckle, curved his lips into a “Hmm,” said nothing more, and sat down on the sofa.
“Why did you suddenly come to my place?” Lu Kongyun glanced at the sofa too, then looked at his brother. “If you need something, you could’ve called to make an appointment.”
“I did call,” Lu Qifeng unbuttoned his military uniform and propped one leg up.
Lu Kongyun hadn’t checked his phone. So he asked, “Was it urgent?”
His brother fell into an unusual silence before answering, “Not really.”
“If it’s not urgent, let’s talk tomorrow, brother.” Lu Kongyun said. “It’s getting late.”
“Oh, kicking me out, are we?” Lu Qifeng chuckled, leaning back deeper into the sofa cushion, making it clear he wasn’t leaving.
A muffled thud seemed to come from upstairs. Lu Qifeng instinctively glanced toward the staircase.
“Then speak if you have something to say.” Lu Kongyun immediately sat beside him, watching him.
Lu Qifeng refocused his attention on Lu Kongyun. He fell silent again for a moment. Then he said, “How much do you know about interrogation methods for temporary markers?”
Lu Kongyun startled, forcing his gaze not to drift upstairs.
He tried to keep his tone level: “I’ve given you all the materials I should have.”
Lu Qifeng frowned, rubbing his chin: “I think I’ve made a mistake.”
“…” Lu Kongyun’s attention sharpened as he leaned forward. “What happened?”
“Well… I forcibly marked an Alpha. Now he seems mentally unstable.” Lu Qifeng’s tone remained surprisingly calm.
Lu Qifeng was notoriously reckless. Lu Kongyun knew this. He frowned, leaning back further from Lu Qifeng and said coldly, “You should know. Forcing an Alpha to mark another Alpha carries all sorts of risks.”
“But under the effects of truth serum, so-called ‘forced’ markings rarely hold up. I’ve used this interrogation method on other Alphas before without issues,” Lu Qifeng countered.
Lu Kongyun: “This is the first time?”
“Yes. This type of truth serum is exceptionally potent. You participated in its early development, you must be aware of its effects. Few can resist it. But this guy…”
Lu Qifeng paused.
“This one’s willpower is truly exceptional. No matter how much we increased the dosage, he wouldn’t reveal anything. So I resorted to the temporary marking interrogation. That’s when he went mad.”
“…,” Lu Kongyun pondered for a moment before saying, “So you believe his mental issues aren’t caused by the same-sex forced marking.”
“Yeah. I think the combination of truth serum and the temporary marking… well, for someone with that kind of iron will… how to put it? He’d rather break than bend. It drove him mad.”
“This situation isn’t documented in your files.” Lu Qifeng snorted. “Is that negligence?”
“Files only record verified facts. What you’re describing lacks sufficient case support at present,” Lu Kongyun replied. “I’ll note it in the materials for the later experimental group to take note.”
Lu Qifeng raised an eyebrow. “Regardless, the man is already insane… though that’s hardly unusual during spy interrogations.”
Lu Kongyun remained silent, seemingly deep in thought.
Lu Qifeng shifted his crossed leg and asked again, “Xiao Yun, you have a doctor friend who specializes in Alpha-wave functional therapy, right? Skilled, well-connected, trustworthy.”
“Mhm,” Lu Kongyun replied. “I occasionally consult him. Why?”
“I need his contact info. Could you put me in touch?” Lu Qifeng said.
“Sure.” Lu Kongyun grabbed his phone, which indeed showed several missed calls and unread messages from Lu Qifeng asking why he couldn’t reach him and if he was home. He sent Lu Qifeng the doctor’s contact details.
As far as he knew, Lu Qifeng wasn’t the type to show any empathy for the unexpected misfortune suffered by interrogators. His late-night visit in the rain was peculiar.
As far as he knew, Lu Qifeng wasn’t the type to feel any empathy for the mishaps of those he interrogated. Showing up in the middle of the night, in the rain, was peculiar.
But that wasn’t Lu Kongyun’s concern.
As Lu Qifeng was leaving, he still said, “Brother, you… control yourself.”
Stepping out the door, Lu Qifeng turned back with a smile, raised his arm, and reset the restraint wristband before his eyes: “As for you, Xiao Yun, I’ve shielded you from so many rotten suitors. It wasn’t so I could watch you end up like Lu Qingchuan, secretly hooking up with trashy whores and sluts behind my back.”
