    Chapter 23 Pheromone Danger

Yu Xiaowen unlocked one side of the handcuffs and held it in his hand, then he raised his head and observed the victim once more.

He furrowed his brows: “You look…”

Under the victim’s gaze, Yu Xiaowen lowered his head and pulled his clothes back into place.

Before he could raise his head again, something pressed against the back of his neck. He heard the sound of upper and lower teeth clashing together behind his ear; this sound made the hairs on Yu Xiaowen’s back stand up instantly.

    “Lu Kongyun!”

He received no reply; instead, the solid bite-blocker pressed even tighter against the back of his neck, as if it were about to crush his gland into strips.

“Lu Kongyun, you… did you not say you are not a mad dog?… Let, let go of me!”

The person behind him tightened his hold on him and ground him against the wall.

    “!…”

His tailbone felt the complete size in perfect alignment, and even the roots of his hair were standing on end.

Not to mention the constant empty bites that refused to stop, accompanied by the sound of teeth snapping behind his ear.

Yu Xiaowen often thought that the bite-blocker Alphas wore were effective against gentlemen but not villains, truly limited in use. At this moment, he understood that people had invented them for good reason. As a criminal police officer who had seen related tragic social news, he should have had higher vigilance. It was he who had been influenced by the victim’s usual calm and self-restrained state, losing the edge he should have had.

…But this guy had put a wristband on him as soon as he came in.” Clearly, he had been in good control; how had it suddenly turned into this direction?

The victim took a deep breath. Yu Xiaowen’s toes curled up, and he climbed a foot up the wall.

He contracted his buttocks to build a wall: “…Fuck! Lu Kongyun… If you do not stop now, you will regret it!”

He heard the sound of a metal belt buckle being undone behind him, so he seized the opening, stretched his arm forcefully toward the cabinet door under the sink, and hung the fluffy handcuffs on the metal bar. With a click, it locked! The victim, caught off guard, halted his actions and glanced toward it, then pulled his arm, causing the cabinet door to bang. Yu Xiaowen, tangled in his pants on the floor, rolled and crawled away from him.

The victim turned his head to try to open the handcuffs on the bar.

Yu Xiaowen immediately drew out the belt from his own scattered pants, looped it around the victim’s other wrist, crossed and circled it, then slung it over his shoulder and pulled toward the faucet on the other side.

The victim silently resisted, while Yu Xiaowen’s adrenaline surged collectively, enabling him to tap into his potential; he dragged his steps with difficulty, drawing closer to the faucet, then with one fierce effort, hung the belt on it, circled it, and quickly tied a dead knot.

He leaned against the wall, panting heavily.

The entire process took less than half a minute, yet he felt it had drained his mind and energy more than extracting the nectar and jade dew just now.

“You damn… What the hell is wrong with you?!” Yu Xiaowen looked at this guy who had nearly given his already fragile body a heart condition, unable to suppress his anger, and kicked his leg. “If you wanted to do it, we could have agreed earlier to do it directly on the bed. Why come for this kind? Are you crazy!”

The victim’s eyes stared brightly at him, his chest heaving continuously; he also looked very angry. After a moment, as if he did not want to stoop to his level, he lowered his eyelids and said hoarsely: “Use my phone to call Doctor Gao Yuting.”

Yu Xiaowen saw that his nose tip was even a bit red.

    ???

…Yu Xiaowen tugged at his hair a few times, then softened his tone: “Where is your phone?”

“In the living room,” the victim said, closing his eyes.

Yu Xiaowen pushed himself up, pulled up his pants, stood, and left the bathroom. He stood in front of the table in the living room, shook his head, silently cursed, held up the coconut and gulped down two mouthfuls to physically calm his agitation. Then he picked up the victim’s phone and returned to the victim’s side.

The victim slowly opened his eyelids a bit and raised his eyeballs: “I will have Doctor Gao tell you what to do.”

Yu Xiaowen brought the phone close to the victim’s suspended arm, unlocked it with his fingerprint, and then the victim gave a voice command: “Call Doctor Gao Yuting.”

The phone automatically dialed the contact named Doctor Gao Yuting.

“Hello?” The other side picked up quickly. “You can actually make a phone call? This means the rut target’s stuff worked, right? So fast? Congratulations!”

“Not yet,” the victim said, his eyelids trembling as he gripped his suspended hand tighter, his voice even lower: “I have a bit of a situation. You tell him what to do.”

“…Ah? What? What situation did you have?” The doctor on the other end asked busily.

“…Hello, Doctor,” Yu Xiaowen said, bringing the phone close to his face under the victim’s eye signal. “I am… that… the one donating fluids. Doctor Lu is not convenient to move right now. Just tell me what to do.”

“Oh… Oh, good,” Doctor Gao hesitated for a moment, asked no more, and said: “Thank you for the trouble. The fluids are sufficient, right?”

    Yu Xiaowen: “Yes.”

Doctor Gao: “Fine. Then you need to first mix the pheromone reaction extract, Mogelin, the drug neutralizer, in proportion with the fresh fluids… Director Lu should have prepared them in advance, right?”

Yu Xiaowen looked at the victim; the victim nodded.

“Where are these drugs?” Yu Xiaowen asked the victim.

After a moment, the victim said lowly: “In my medicine box.”

Yu Xiaowen whispered: “The box with the sedatives?”

The victim was stunned, then whispered even more lowly: “…Yes.”

Yu Xiaowen glanced at the fluids he had just produced; fortunately, they had not been affected by the struggle and were still placed in the measuring cups in the tool box.

He picked up the tool box, preparing to go into the room. The victim suddenly called to him: “…Wait. Can you leave the wristband for me?”

Yu Xiaowen certainly agreed. He removed the wristband and put it back on the victim, then once again took out the inhibitor patch he had used and applied it tightly to his own nape. He carried the tool box into the room, placed it on the table, and familiarly found the compartment where Doctor Lu Kongyun kept his medicine box, taking out the medicine box.

The person on the phone said: “Are you,Director Lu’s rut target?”

The other’s question ended with an upturned tone, sounding particularly interested.

    Interested in the rut target.

Thus, Yu Xiaowen answered: “Ah, no, I am a substitute meal.”

    Doctor Gao: “.”

Soon, the other side sent over several images of drug bottle packaging and said: “Just these kinds of drugs. I will tell you how to mix them in proportion; it is very simple.”

Yu Xiaowen: “Good, I have seen them. Thank you, Doctor; sorry for the trouble.”

The other laughed: “Why are you thanking me? This kind of thing is all fate’s doing, dragging you into it. You are willing to help my patient solve his problem; it should be I who thanks you.”

Who should thank whom was actually a subtle matter, depending on who was more familiar with Lu Kongyun; the other party would naturally stand in the position of being troubled.

Yu Xiaowen thought for a moment and said: “Hey, no no, Doctor Gao does not need to be polite. It is just a small matter.”

Yu Xiaowen followed the instructions and mixed the “medicine.” Doctor Gao said: “Fine. Give this thing to Director Lu, and you can leave his home.”

Yu Xiaowen paused: “Then he will return to normal? Is it okay to leave him alone?”

Doctor Gao’s voice softened a bit in response: “If it is fluids from the rut target, the effect should be quick. Although I do not know your situation, there will definitely be a considerable degree of relief; no need to worry too much. He is, after all, a S-class Alpha.”

Yu Xiaowen was silent for a moment.

He asked again: “Then do I need to do anything else next?”

“Probably nothing,” Doctor Gao said. “If it is possible to let more fluids cover more places… Uh, cough, never mind. Director Lu does not need it. Probably nothing.”

“Yes.” Yu Xiaowen shook his head. The inhibitor patch on his nape had already been removed once, and after prolonged exposure to the pheromones, it was no longer as effective. His exhausted, drained frail body, even though he was particularly, particularly unwilling, had still produced some reaction under the thick pheromone encirclement.

This impulse brought an inescapable feeling of discomfort.

He cast his gaze on the row of sedatives in the medicine box.

The victim had used this sedative on him before, and the effect had indeed been good. He felt calm every time. He had passed his heat very steadily and slept particularly well. One sleep until dawn, even better than every ordinary day after falling ill.

The packaging was much more secure than the adjacent drugs; it must be very expensive.

Yu Xiaowen carried the mixed inhibitor drug back to the bathroom and then held the phone to the victim’s mouth: “Do you have anything else to say?”

“Do not hang up the call yet; you can put the phone down and go. While I observe the situation here, and if there is a problem, we can communicate in time,” Doctor Gao said responsibly to Yu Xiaowen.

    Yu Xiaowen: “Yes.”

“No need. Hang up the call,” the victim rejected the suggestion.

“…Hm?” Yu Xiaowen looked at him puzzledly. “The doctor said not to hang up.”

“You are so obedient? You just want more people to hear me being embarrassed, right?” The victim pulled his arm, causing the cabinet door to bang once. “You have already achieved your purpose.”

“…Fuck.” Yu Xiaowen said. “Who was it just now who nearly bit through his own bite-blocker? The doctor is still worried about you; do not avoid medical treatment because of shame.”

The victim’s gaze resentfully turned toward him but he quickly closed his with an aggrieved look of resignation to fate.

    Yu Xiaowen: “…”

“If you think you can handle it, then handle it yourself,” the doctor on the other end let out a relieved sigh. “Then should I unlock your bite-blocker?”

The victim: “No need to unlock it first.”

    The call ended.

The victim sat on the floor tiles with his two arms suspended, wings spread like a great peng. And Yu Xiaowen was kneeling opposite him.

“Yu Xiaowen, have you had your fun? Are you satisfied now?” The victim said through gritted teeth. “You have completely messed me up. Do you know who I am? But look at me now; what do I even look like? Not even human; only a beast without humanity would be tied up like this.”

Yu Xiaowen was somewhat shocked by these words: “Lu Kongyun, you are mentally ill; your attribution system is also ill. You are tied up because you yourself went into rut. You are an expert; why do you not reflect on why your rut erupted? What does this have to do with me? What is there for me to be satisfied about?”

“…I myself went into rut?” The victim’s breathing quickened. But he seemed to be trying hard to control it. “I reflect?”

Yu Xiaowen: “What else? Fuck, everything was fine just now; you suddenly barged in and inexplicably lost control yourself.”

“…It was I who lost control myself?” The victim’s face paled.

“Do you know how much psychological trauma your big dog mouth suppression can cause an Omega? I did not run and even specially helped you call the doctor! Ungrateful wolf, little villain… Seeing that your body is unstable now, this officer did not stoop to your level.”

    The victim’s chest heaved.

He looked somewhat pitiful. Yu Xiaowen said again: “Forget it; you are just ill… It is a physiological phenomenon; you are not a beast. You are usually quite good; why do you describe yourself like that?”

    Silence.

“Fine,” the victim regained his calm once more. “Then untie me now. I will use the drug myself.”

Yu Xiaowen carefully examined his calm expression again, then stepped forward once more to untie the bindings on his hands: “You had better not play tricks on me again. The officer can tie you up a second time just as easily.”

This time, after untying him, Yu Xiaowen immediately put distance between them. His eyes vigilantly stared at him, and his body retreated backward. The victim rubbed his wrists twice and made no extra movements. He simply took the mixed drug directly, frowned, and looked at it.

    Yu Xiaowen stared at him.

He watched the victim dip his little finger into the measuring cup to wet it, then put this finger into the bite-blocker and suck on it briefly, as if he was testing its drug effect preliminarily.

    Yu Xiaowen: “….”

He leaned closely against the wall, his ears beginning to burn. He covered his eyes with his fingers, leaving a gap between them to continue observing the other’s reaction.

The victim did not show the disgusted expression he had anticipated.

The victim flared his nostrils and licked his lips.

Yu Xiaowen’s legs curled up to his chest, and the gap between his fingers became even narrower.

The victim looked over and asked: “How is it? Can it be used?”

After a while, the victim nodded. Then his fingers rubbed the measuring cup, and he raised his wrist. His voice was weak but carried some relaxed relief: “Your inhibitor patch is about to lose effectiveness. But I also need to use the wristband; I cannot give it to you temporarily.”

“It is fine. I will stand at the door to disperse the scent; I can hold out until home.” Yu Xiaowen let out a breath of relief, then stood up: “Then I am leaving.”

“…How about I give you a sedative; you rest here until you are better, then go,” the victim suggested.

Yu Xiaowen immediately refused, with a mocking smile at the corner of his mouth: “Spare me. Even with your home’s bathroom door locked, you still came in and saw the officer’s buttocks.”

The victim’s brows twitched: “I did not look.”

He dipped his fingers into the “drug” again, then put them in his mouth and sucked: “Actually, I do not know if I will still need your help later.”

“Doctor Gao said no need. He told me to leave as soon as possible,” Yu Xiaowen shifted his gaze, leaned against the wall, and kicked his toes one by one. “He said you can handle more situations than I think.”

    The victim: “…”

In the end, the victim gave Yu Xiaowen a high-grade sedative to pocket, and briefly explained the usage, letting him go home and use it to sleep well.

When Yu Xiaowen put on his duckbill cap and walked out the door, the sky had darkened again, and it began to rain gloomily. The victim took an umbrella and tossed it into the rain. It arced half a circle on the ground, then stopped, the umbrella fabric making crisp sounds from the raindrops hitting it.

“Wait a moment; rinse the scent from the room off the umbrella,” the victim said, stepping back to put some distance between them. “I called a car for you, at the alley mouth south of the Orange Garden.”

“You called a car for me?” Yu Xiaowen said. “…No need.”

“Who else do you want to pick you up now, in this state?” The victim held the drug and placed it under his nose through the bite-blocker: “I found a special car with a Beta driver to pick you up. Do not catch a cold; once in the car, have him turn up the air conditioning. Send me a message when you get home.”

Yu Xiaowen stared at him for a while.

“It’s like we are dating, Doctor Lu.”

The victim’s improving mental state suddenly seemed to collapse again.

Yu Xiaowen hummed through his nose, chuckling: “So you see, pheromones are truly very dangerous. …You must be careful in the future.”

Yu Xiaowen stepped into the rain to pick up the umbrella; his eyelashes had already been speckled with raindrops first.

He turned back and waved his hand.

    “Goodbye.”

Under the light at the door, the victim’s hand holding the cup had prominent veins on the back, distinct one by one. But he moved his mouth, and his voice was very muffled, covered by the sound of the rain.

    “See you tonight.”
