    Chapter 24: House Call

Lu Kongyun watched as the blackmailer disappeared into the rain, then he turned and returned to the house. He found some medical cotton balls, soaked them in the medicinal solution, and held one in his mouth.

He walked into the bathroom and ran water into the bathtub. After filling it halfway, he sprinkled in some herbs for promoting blood circulation, then poured the remaining medicinal solution into the bathtub. He removed his clothes and sat into the bathtub.

He used the water from the bathtub to wet himself, particularly the gland below his neck. Then he held the thick control lever that stood prominently above the water surface.

He was very unfamiliar with doing this.

After a while, he closed his eyes, tensed his body, and in his imagination, released countless puppy seeds into a place as warm and rippling as the bathtub.

This process lasted for quite a long time, and then he sank his entire body into the water.

He soaked until the hot water had cooled, then he floated up and spat out the cotton ball.

He rinsed his body and changed into a new set of clothes. It was a very formal suit, the kind he usually wore only for academic conferences. He tied his tie properly and combed his messy hair back, revealing his forehead.

He looked at himself in the mirror for a moment and set out.

In Gao Yuting’s clinic. After hanging up Lu Kongyun’s call, Lu Qifeng, who had been silently listening to the phone beside him, laughed: “Substitute meal.”

Gao Yuting also let out a agreeing laugh: “The person seems quite good.”

Lu Qifeng: “No matter how much proper food you feed him, he will not eat it; what kind of substitute meal is that? Ridiculous.”

Doctor Gao Yuting thought for a moment and nodded: “You have a point. So you think that person…”

Lu Qifeng did not say anything more but continued to stare at his M Country spy patient through the observation window.

The spy could not actually see anyone outside the observation window. But when the spy raised his head and directed his gaze toward the observation window, Lu Qifeng, who should have been accustomed to the surveillance perspective long ago, narrowed his eyes, contracted his pupils, and met that gaze with even greater focus.

This made it seem like they were making eye contact.

“He seems to be improving,” Lu Qifeng said, still “making eye contact” with the person in the room.

“Yes. Director Lu,” Gao Yuting took out the treatment records and carefully handed them to him. “There is improvement every day; yesterday he even ate on his own for a while. This has his daily condition records; you can take a look.”

Lu Qifeng did not take the records. After observing for a while, he asked again: “So your meaning is that he is actively eating.”

    Gao Yuting: “Yes.”

Director Lu pondered for a moment, then shifted his gaze from the spy patient and beckoned to one of his subordinate officers. That officer walked over and stood at attention.

“Increase the manpower. Watch closely,” Lu Qifeng said.

Gao Yuting could not help but object in a low voice: “Director Lu, with so many officers wandering around the clinic, they have already scared away many of my patients.”

“Then do not do business with them. If they can be scared away, it means it is not something that must be treated,” Lu Qifeng patted his shoulder.

    Gao Yuting: “…”

Lu Qifeng, who worked in military intelligence, seemed to always carry an indelible scent of blood.

Lu Kongyun arrived at the blackmailer’s doorstep and knocked on the door. For a long time, no one opened it.

The truth serum did indeed have a certain sedative effect at the same time, so the blackmailer should have fallen asleep after the injection. But a criminal police officer’s phone was never far from him, and he was alert. If he called, he could definitely wake him up.

Lu Kongyun called the blackmailer. As expected, the other side picked up very quickly. As soon as he answered, there was a hoarse: “Knock knock knock… Knock your grandmother… Did I not tell you there is a key under the doormat…”

    He hung up.

The blackmailer certainly had not told Lu Kongyun that there was a key there.

It was probably Milk Tea again.

Lu Kongyun squatted down, retrieved the key from under the mat, unlocked the door, and walked in.

The living room had dim lighting from a low-wattage lamp. Lu Kongyun took off his raincoat and hung it at the door. He first walked to the trash bin and looked inside. There was indeed a shadow of the packaging for Type Ts-4 military truth serum.

When he left, he would take out the trash and leave no evidence.

The bedroom door was open, and it was dark inside.

He walked into the bedroom. By the faint light from the living room, he saw a chair by the bedside, so he sat down on it.

The lump on the bed extended a hand over the edge of the bed, which happened to touch his knee, so he patted it casually. While wriggling, it mumbled soft, sticky sounds: “It is rare to have a day off; can you let your master sleep a full night… Do you really cannot do without me? Then what will you do in the future… Ouch! Ah!”

His wrist was gripped and pulled forward, nearly yanking the whole person out from under the covers.

    “Yu Xiaowen.”

The lump on the bed was stunned for half a moment, drew in a breath, and immediately turned on the bedside lamp.

The blackmailer appeared in the dim yellow light. His face was swollen, his eyes fatigued, and his hair like a bird’s nest. He looked at Lu Kongyun, staring somewhat foolishly. Then his eyeballs moved, and he quickly picked up the deep red inhibitor patch from the table and applied it to the back of his neck again, then pressed down his hair.

He murmured: “This must be a dream.”

Lu Kongyun examined his appearance of propping himself up, dazed and listless as if his soul had been drawn out, which very much matched the state after truth serum.

“Yes. It is a dream. How do you feel?” He asked softly.

“How do I feel?” After the blackmailer repeated it somewhat inexplicably, his expression became somewhat touched. “You came specifically to visit me? I am doing quite well.”

The blackmailer sized up Lu Kongyun: “You look quite well too.”

“I am very well,” Lu Kongyun released the other’s arm, leaned back in the chair, and said calmly: “Thank you for your ‘medicine’.”

The blackmailer’s face became unnatural for a moment, but it passed in an instant. Then he rubbed his eyes and let out a light laugh: “Not bad. I am more accustomed to seeing the asexual version of Doctor Lu.”

    “Yu Xiaowen.”

    “Hm?”

Lu Kongyun: “I know your mental strength is very strong. But I also have ways to deal with you.”

“Ah? What do you want to deal with me for?” The blackmailer raised his eyebrows.

“…If you are not honest, I can temporarily mark you,” Lu Kongyun said.

As expected, the blackmailer’s eyes instantly showed some surprise.

Lu Kongyun crossed his arms: “But if you cooperate with the interrogation, I will not do that. The things I want to know are also very ordinary; there is no need for you to conceal them.”

This time, the blackmailer did not speak. No one knew what he was thinking, but he nodded.

    “Your birthday?”

The blackmailer answered obediently: “February 14.”

“What food do you like to eat?”

    “Seafood,” the blackmailer answered.

Lu Kongyun: “So what is good about Lu Qifeng?”

“Ah? Why suddenly ask this…” The blackmailer scratched his face in confusion, as if he was stumped. “If I have to say your brother’s merits, it might be similar to your father.”

The blackmailer yawned and nestled into the covers like a soft slug: “He just looks a bit like you.”

The blackmailer tilted his head to look at Lu Kongyun, who was holding the corner of the table: “What is wrong?”

Lu Kongyun: “‘I look a bit like him’.”

The blackmailer: “Indeed, a bit. After all, you are blood brothers.”

The corner of the stool made a light creak.

Lu Kongyun: “So earlier, when you mentioned my brother at my house, it was because you were thinking of him.”

“Earlier? …At your house?” The blackmailer’s eyes blinked: “When did I mention it?”

Lu Kongyun: “Think again. It was when I entered the bathroom to put the wristband on you.”

The blackmailer seemed to be thinking, then suddenly realized: “Oh, oh, seems like I did.”

    Silence.

After a while, Lu Kongyun asked: “So you admit it? That ‘at that time’ you were thinking of him?”

The blackmailer was stunned: “Are you ill? Why would I think of him? Thinking of that spy boss would dehydrate a person; how could I treat you then?”

The blackmailer raised his head slightly, and his expression became angry. The small fuzz on his ears even seemed more vibrant.

    His neck also tensed up.

Lu Kongyun shifted his gaze back to his face: “Then you deliberately mentioned my brother to stimulate my rut eruption.”

The blackmailer: “Where the hell does this fallacy come from?”

Lu Kongyun leaned closer to him: “You said you would help me, but when I could not stand it, you called another man in front of me; of course I would explode. It is hard for me not to suspect your intentions.”

The blackmailer suddenly fell silent and pinched the covers under his hand into hills.

“Intentions.” After a while, the blackmailer lay back on the pillow and looked at the ceiling. His black, soft hair flowed on the pillow. He apologized. His attitude was very sincere, but it always felt like something was missing, a bit cold: “Oh. That was my oversight.”

He pursed his own pale-colored lips.

Lu Kongyun looked at the blackmailer. Using truth serum outside of heat, although it spared Lu Kongyun the steps of handling the other’s messy and disheveled physical condition, it also seemed to make him lose a certain position of control.

“So you still have not told me the reason you suddenly mentioned his name,” Lu Kongyun rubbed his fingertips on his knee twice. “Yu Xiaowen, there is no need to have reservations. This is not something extraordinary, right? Say it. It is nothing. Your relationships with other Alphas have nothing to do with me.”

Lu Kongyun bared his canine tooth and made a friendly expression to guide the other to cooperate with the questioning.

“I just want to know if it is related to me being blackmailed by you.”

The blackmailer looked at his friendly expression and shrank back a bit: “No relation at all. I just thought of a scene, and your brother happened to be in that scene. I was not clear-headed at the time, so I accidentally said it out loud.”

    “Is that so?”

“Enough, stop looking; I am not lying to you,” the blackmailer continued to retreat his body, putting some distance from Lu Kongyun; a pair of eyeballs glanced over from the corner of his eye: “Your body has… recovered, right? Then since I helped you after all, you still come to question me over this utterly unimportant nonsense? Boring. I am going to sleep. Hurry and leave. It is late at night; a lone Alpha and a lone Omega is not appropriate.”

The blackmailer rolled himself back into the covers; the covers were tossed up and down by him. Lu Kongyun reached his hand in and caught his ankle.

“You are not allowed to sleep.”

The blackmailer suddenly fell silent. Through the covers, he stared at the place where Lu Kongyun’s hand had reached in.

Lu Kongyun was stunned for a moment and wanted to withdraw his hand, but the other acted first.

“…What are you doing? Do you want to fight again?” The blackmailer struggled. “How can you repay kindness with enmity? I do not like you anymore!”

Lu Kongyun’s grip on his ankle, which he had intended to release, tightened: “…I did not ask you to like me.”

“Let go!” The blackmailer increased the force of his pushing; he grabbed his phone from beside the pillow and feigned tapping something: “Are you not afraid I will leave evidence of you assaulting an officer, Lu Kongyun!”

Lu Kongyun did not let go. But soon the blackmailer slowly stopped his movements himself, looked at him, then looked at the bedsheet.

Doctor Lu also followed the blackmailer’s gaze and lowered his head to look at the bedsheet. He saw that on the blackmailer’s plain-colored bedsheet, spots of scarlet were printing one by one. He was stunned for a moment and felt streams of hot flow running down his nose tip. He put his fingers into the bite-blocker to touch below his nose.

    “…”

An Alpha’s rut eruption, plus soaking in hot water and strong medicine, now he should calm his mind, regulate his breathing, and keep his body still, best to lie in bed and rest.

If he were the patient’s doctor, he would definitely give such medical advice.
