Jian Chengxi never thought in his life that he would encounter such an awkward moment.

Unfortunately, a group of people were all present and he didn’t dare to say otherwise.

However, Byrne, who was behind Li Lingfeng, walked over. He was dressed in a sharp suit and looked quite presentable. The man smiled and said, “Mr. Jian, how did you end up falling out of the window while inspecting?”

This question really hit the nail on the head.

Jian Chengxi’s face turned as white as a sheet, and he was at a loss for words, unable to defend himself.

    He glanced at Mirage.

Mirage, as an accomplice, surprisingly turned his face away, lacking any loyalty. He did not give him even the slightest bit of face.

    Jian Chengxi was enraged.

Just as he racked his brains, trying to come up with an excuse and reason for himself—

A voice came from the fourth-floor window, “Daddy!”

Jian Chengxi raised his head and looked up. He saw Li Suisui’s face, standing in Mirage’s office. The little girl—no one knew how long she had been standing there, nor how much she had seen.

Jian Chengxi raised his head. “Suisui?”

Li Suisui said to him, “Did Daddy help Suisui pick up the toy that fell from the tree?”

Jian Chengxi felt as if he had been saved, and he quickly said, “I picked it up. Stay good upstairs and Daddy will be back soon.”

    Li Suisui obediently nodded. “Okay!”

    The problem was easily solved.

Jian Chengxi turned around and looked at Byrne, and after meeting his probing gaze, he spoke, “I’ve made you laugh at us.”

Byrne waved his hand. “Not at all, I just think Mr. Jian is really good to the child.”

Jian Chengxi smiled and said, “Not at all, it’s you who are good to the child. One mother’s love for Alice isn’t enough, you even need to marry another one.”

Byrne’s smile froze on his face.

Jian Chengxi let out an “ah.” His fair and beautiful face looked especially innocent as he leaned closer to his husband. “Sorry, is it okay to say that?”

Byrne was so angry that his hand trembled.

Unfortunately, the other officials behind them couldn’t help but smile quietly.

Byrne swallowed his anger, and turned to Li Lingfeng. He said, “General Li, you already have two children, and now you’re preparing for a third. Don’t let your wife get too tired. I think it’s time for you to marry again soon.”

Li Lingfeng lifted his eyelids and looked at him, then spoke, “No need.”

    Byrne was somewhat confused.

“Educating and raising children is not his sole responsibility.” Li Lingfeng’s voice was deep and powerful. His figure was tall and straight, as he looked at Byrne and said, “If the chairman has the time to be concerned about my wife, it would be better to go visit his sick wife.”

Byrne’s smile was somewhat unable to hold up, and he could only awkwardly say, “Of course.”

In his eyes was a hidden coldness.

The situation in the court was ever-changing. Li Lingfeng almost held most of the military power, nearly second only to the emperor, above everyone else.

He simply couldn’t do anything to him.

Yet as long as he marries the eldest daughter of Fuchs—

The empire’s wealth would be controlled by their two families, and by then, how would he still need to fear him?

    Evening.

Jian Chengxi came out of the school with two children.

They had just come out and hadn’t walked far when they saw the deputy general waiting for them not far away.

The deputy general came over and respectfully said, “Madam, the Marshal said he’s on his way to pick you up.”

Jian Chengxi saw the warship designated for Li Lingfeng parked not far away, and then nodded at the deputy general. He said, “Alright, thank you.”

He took the children aboard the warship.

Jian Chengxi let the two children play in the lounge outside and walked into the main cockpit himself, where Li Lingfeng was looking at the satellite maps and documents.

Jian Chengxi walked over and said, “Were there any issues with today’s medical examination?”

Li Lingfeng put the document down and said, “It’s just that.”

Jian Chengxi walked over to the water dispenser and got a glass of water. He gulped down half the glass, and then turned his head, looking at him in confusion. “What does that mean? Isn’t it good?”

Li Lingfeng answered, “They’re all old injuries.”

Jian Chengxi had also seen his body, and indeed, there were many old injuries.

Yet back then, he just thought the scars looked frightening. After thinking it over, having stayed in that godforsaken place of the Zerg nest for three years, who wouldn’t have old injuries in their body?

He needed to think of a way to help Li Lingfeng recover his health.

Li Lingfeng didn’t continue discussing the issue, he just spoke up and asked, “What did you go to the hospital for today?”

    Jian Chengxi coughed.

He almost choked to death on the water in the cup.

Li Lingfeng sat in the chair. His strict and elegant military uniform accentuated his cold and stern face, which was exceptionally handsome. The man’s dark eyes were fixed on him. “Don’t tell me, you really have three children now?”

Jian Chengxi immediately protested in injustice. “How could I possibly have, I… I haven’t… well, done that with you. Where would that happen?”

Li Lingfeng raised an eyebrow. His face was expressionless, but he spoke words that were startling, “Are you blaming me for not trying hard enough?”

Maybe he could fool that group of ministers.

However, their intimate life was known only to them.

Jian Chengxi’s face flushed with a deep red, and he stammered, “I didn’t!”

Completely unaware that the opposite of “nothing” means “satisfaction.”

Li Lingfeng withdrew his gaze and said, “Today is not the day to take Li Chen to check his legs.”

Jian Chengxi knew he couldn’t hide it from him.

This family, he didn’t know what was going on, each one of them seemed to be smarter than him!

The cabin fell into complete silence.

Li Lingfeng’s gaze landed on Jian Chengxi’s face, his little wife holding a cup, looking rather guilty. Perhaps no one had ever told Jian Chengxi that he really wasn’t good at lying.

Perhaps it was because he didn’t trust himself that he was unwilling to speak.

Why would he go meet Mirage behind his back?

Or is he planning to leave him again?

    How dare Mirage help him?

Countless thoughts flashed through Li Lingfeng’s mind, various ideas continuously surged, and his gaze lowered, dark with emotion.

    However—

Jian Chengxi’s weak voice came through, “I told you not to get angry.”

    Did he guess it right?

Li Lingfeng’s voice carried an imperceptible hint of danger, “You say.”

Jian Chengxi took a deep breath and spoke, “I went to visit Alice’s mother. I secretly snuck in with Alice and almost got caught by their butler!”

    “…”

The cabin was in complete silence.

Li Lingfeng looked at him expressionlessly.

Jian Chengxi was extremely nervous. “Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Li Lingfeng spoke softly, “You climbed the tree for this.”

“What else could it be?” Jian Chengxi spoke as if afraid Li Lingfeng didn’t know how hard it was for him. “You don’t know, that tree was actually easy to climb, but the worst part was there was a snake in the tree, you know, it was terrifying. The snake was this big, and it even hissed, you know, that kind of sound…”

Li Lingfeng interrupted him, “You don’t need to learn this.”

Jian Chengxi sounded somewhat regretful, “Oh.”

Li Lingfeng silently looked at him. The tall and steady marshal’s face was calm, and Jian Chengxi belatedly realized that he might have caused him trouble.

    This wasn’t his intention either.

Who could have imagined it would develop into this.

Jian Chengxi thought for a moment, and was about to say something, when he heard Li Lingfeng speak, “Did the snake bite you?”

“No.” Jian Chengxi sounded a little pleased. “It didn’t even get the chance, I just fell down.”

    Li Lingfeng: “…”

Is this something to be proud of?

Yet no matter how outrageous the situation, it seems to become normal when it involves Jian Chengxi.

Jian Chengxi seemed to realize that he really was a bit embarrassed. He rubbed his nose and said, “Alice is Suisui’s classmate. She really wants to see her mother, but Byrne locked up his wife and won’t let the child see her. She’s really pitiful, the child is so young and lost her mother. Who knows what kind of woman Byrne will marry in the future? Byrne’s wife went through so many hardships with him over the years, and now she has ended up like this.”

Li Lingfeng picked up the document again, his voice calm and indifferent, “This is the fate she chose for herself.”

Jian Chengxi was choked up. His understanding of his own man’s coldness deepened, and he muttered quietly, “Yet you still choose me.”

Li Lingfeng lifted his eyelids and looked at him.

The man didn’t say much more, but the silent pressure was already present.

Jian Chengxi felt a bit panicked inside. He was about to defend himself, but unexpectedly, he heard Li Lingfeng speak in a low voice, “I have never regretted it.”

His voice was firm and resolute.

Jian Chengxi’s eyes widened slightly, and for a moment, he even wondered if he had heard it wrong.

Li Lingfeng said, “Choosing to marry you, I have never regretted it.”

Jian Chengxi subconsciously felt it was impossible, after all, the original owner had made so many mistakes.

He turned his head and glanced at the children outside. His voice stammered a little yet filled with some emotion, “But… but you, but I…”

Li Lingfeng spoke in a calm voice, “Not killing Wang Zhe earlier is the thing I regret.”

    “…”

    It’s so touching.

    The warship returned home.

The family had just gotten out, when Wang Cai in the yard started dancing with excitement.

The hateful humans actually left the Dragon Lord all alone at home. It’s almost starving to death!

Jian Chengxi looked at Wang Cai’s excited appearance and bent down to pat its head. “I didn’t expect Wang Cai to be so affectionate now.”

Li Suisui leaned in and said, “Is it because it knows only Daddy will feed it?”

Jian Chengxi said, “That’s not it, Wang Cai isn’t that smart.”

    The dragon cub: “…”

I will bite them sooner or later.

Li Lingfeng walked up from behind.

Jian Chengxi said to him, “Do you want to pet Wang Cai?”

Li Lingfeng stood coldly to the side, and when his gaze fell on the familiar pet, it scared Wang Cai so much that it let out a yelp and shrank back.

    However, the man didn’t mind.

He had never been liked or welcomed since he was young, and he had even less affection for such small animals. If not for his wife and children seeming to like this familiar beast so much, he probably would have already eliminated it.

Wang Cai sensed the killing intent and shrank back.

Jian Chengxi saw that it didn’t like it, so he didn’t force it and let the little beast down.

The weather gradually became a little cooler.

After the two children arrived home, they went to do their homework on their own.

Jian Chengxi was almost never home during the day. Fortunately, there were still plenty of ingredients left at home so he simply decided to make some simple noodles to eat. Last time, he made noodles from grains, and now he was preparing to squeeze some more noodles.

He put some of the alien-imported grains into the meat grinder and started to squeeze the noodles.

He set the power to the maximum.

As the grains were slowly ground, it gradually began to take the shape of noodles.

However, the flour wasn’t fine enough. Jian Chengxi thought to himself that it would be great if he had a mill, but there definitely isn’t one in the market now. He might have to make one himself.

While he was lost in thought, he turned around and happened to see Li Chen standing behind him.

Jian Chengxi was startled. He patted his chest, then walked over and bent down, his voice gentle, “How is Xiao Chen here?”

Li Chen raised his face. The boy’s voice soft, “I came to pour water.”

After more than a month of treatment, although Li Chen’s leg still hadn’t fully healed, he could still walk, albeit barely. On regular days, Jian Chengxi often encouraged him to walk.

Jian Chengxi stood up and said, “The water dispenser in the study is out of water. Wait a moment, Daddy will pour some for you.”

Li Chen stood beside. He looked at the flour grinder next to Jian Chengxi, and asked, “Daddy, do you want to grind flour?”

Jian Chengxi was stunned. He nodded and said, “Yes, this machine doesn’t grind very well. I wonder if there are better ones on the market.”

Li Chen’s small frame stood by the stove counter, watching the machine.

Jian Chengxi handed him the water cup. “Alright, go back and do your homework.”

    Li Chen nodded.

Jian Chengxi originally thought things were over, but after a while, while he was continuing to use the machine to grind more flour, suddenly—

A voice came from behind, “Daddy.”

Jian Chengxi turned around in surprise. “Xiao Chen?”

Li Chen was holding a notebook in his hand. His small arm was lifted while holding out the drawing to Jian Chengxi. “Would this make the grinding better?”

Jian Chengxi took the notebook and his eyes widened in surprise.

He could guarantee that his child had definitely never seen a stone mill.

Yet in the drawing, there were some rough sketches, and it indeed depicted a fairly complete stone mill structure!

Jian Chengxi said in surprise, “Did you design this to grind flour?”

    Wuwuwu.

His own son might just be a genius!

The old father was so moved in his heart that he almost wanted to wipe away tears!

Li Chen stood by the stove counter and said softly, “No.”

Jian Chengxi was stunned for a moment. “T–then what is this?”

“This is from the hamster’s simulated life experiment, when the teacher asked how my hamster would handle the bodies if it killed the other hamsters.” Li Chen pointed at the drawing, his small hand gesturing on it. “Use this machine to turn the bodies into a muddy paste and grind it evenly.”

Jian Chengxi’s hands trembled slightly. “Why does it need to be ground evenly? Can’t we just bury it on the spot?”

Li Chen’s dark eyes were very calm. “Because when it’s ground evenly, it’s easier for plants to absorb. There are many fruit trees planted in the hamster’s yard.”

    Jian Chengxi: “…”

    This is really thoughtful.

He could hardly bear to look at his own flour anymore, okay?!

    What’s going on?

Why is his child so ruthless?

This shouldn’t be the case. Shouldn’t other three-year-olds be calling hamsters cute?

He was holding the drawing in his hand, slightly trembling. Then he saw Li Lingfeng walking down from upstairs. The man saw the father and son standing in the kitchen, and spoke softly, “What’s going on?”

Jian Chengxi looked up at him, as if he had seen a savior.

    Li Lingfeng walked downstairs.

Jian Chengxi spoke, “Hmm… I’m looking at this flour-grinding machine Xiao Chen designed for me.”

Li Lingfeng walked over and took the drawing.

Jian Chengxi heard him look at the child and say, “Did you draw this?”

    Li Chen nodded.

Li Lingfeng glanced over the drawing and looked at Li Chen. He said, “This isn’t for storing grains, is it?”

Jian Chengxi asked curiously, “How do you know?”

Could it be that this method of grinding bodies was something he suggested to the child?

Li Lingfeng placed the drawing back into the child’s hands and said slowly, “Because I once designed something similar.”

    Jian Chengxi: “…?”

    Are you two devils?!

Li Chen returned to his study.

Jian Chengxi suppressed the complaints in his heart and continued cooking.

The dough was almost ready. He added some water and kneaded the dough. It was a physical task.

Li Lingfeng stood beside and rolled up his sleeves. The man said, “You rest, I’ll do it.”

Jian Chengxi looked at him, somewhat surprised. After all, he spent all his time on the battlefield, almost always using a gun. He said, “N–no, it’s fine. I’ll do it myself.”

However, Li Lingfeng had already taken the bowl of dough and brought it over. He spoke softly, “This is the meal for our whole family. Didn’t I say I won’t let you be the only one working.”

His voice was very low and very steady.

Jian Chengxi heard it in his ear, and for some reason, he was momentarily stunned.

Those were the words spoken under the tree at the hospital that evening. At that time, he thought he was just saying it casually, but he didn’t expect that he was serious.

In the past, he often heard others say such things.

Some people, when they fall in love, always like to say sweet things, drawing empty pies in the air.

Li Lingfeng almost never says anything sweet to him, but he is always doing good things for him.

The warm yellow light fell, and the tall, handsome man stood beside him. Jian Chengxi watched him awkwardly kneading the dough for him, and for some reason, he curved his lips and smiled.

Li Lingfeng glanced at him. “What are you smiling about?”

Jian Chengxi rubbed his nose and, feeling guilty, he said, “Nothing, it’s nothing.”

Li Lingfeng looked down at him and his gaze deepened. “Flour’s gotten on your face.”

    Jian Chengxi was startled. “Really?”

There was no mirror in the living room. He was a little flustered and tried to wipe it off, but he wasn’t sure if he had wiped it off or not. So he looked up at Li Lingfeng and asked, “Is there more?”

He had just wiped with his sleeve, but instead, he spread the flour all over his face even more.

Li Lingfeng looked at him and curved his lips into a smile.

Jian Chengxi was confused by his smile. He was a little embarrassed and annoyed, as he asked, “Didn’t it come off?”

    Li Lingfeng: “Mhm.”

Jian Chengxi originally didn’t think much of it. Since he wasn’t the kind of person to care much about his appearance, but for some reason, he became a bit more conscious about it in front of Li Lingfeng. He turned his face away. “Does it look ridiculous?”

Li Lingfeng said softly, “No, it’s very beautiful.”

Jian Chengxi looked back at him and asked in confusion, “Really?”

Li Lingfeng placed the kneaded dough aside, his gaze dark and deep, glancing at him. His voice was slow and deliberate, with a hint of teasing, “Hmm. After all, it’s not like it’s the first time I’ve seen it.”

Jian Chengxi was momentarily stunned. He initially didn’t quite react, but when he finally understood, his earlobes turned bright red, almost as if they were about to bleed.

    Wuwuwu.

Who can return his serious marshal to him!

    Someone’s being a rogue!

    Who’s going to grab him!!

The dough for the noodles rose quickly.

Jian Chengxi hadn’t made noodles in a long time, but he hadn’t forgotten how to make noodles.

First, take the dough out of the bowl and knead it into a round shape with your hands.

The freshly risen dough was very elastic, soft and squishy. When it’s squeezed, it feels just like clay.

Jian Chengxi found a stick of a suitable length from the cabinet and began to roll out the dough.

He rolled the dough out with force and slowly rolled the round dough into a somewhat large sheet of dough. At this point, it could basically be cut.

He folded the dough sheet into several layers and then used a knife to cut the dough into several evenly-sized strips.

Li Suisui came downstairs and curiously asked, “Daddy, what is this?”

Jian Chengxi explained to her, “This is dough.”

The little girl obediently stayed beside and watched, looking very curious.

Jian Chengxi saw her staring at the dough and said, “If you want to touch it, you need to wash your hands.”

Li Suisui was instantly happy after getting permission from her Daddy. The little girl ran to the nearby sink and quickly washed her small hands. She pinched a small piece of dough.

Jian Chengxi saw that she liked it and said, “Play by yourself, but don’t throw it around.”

Li Suisui nodded and said, “Okay!”

Jian Chengxi cut and blanched the vegetables he had prepared nearby, and was preparing to cook some wild vegetable noodles. First, he brushed a layer of oil in the pot, then put the wild vegetables in to stir-fry until cooked. He then added water to bring it to a boil before adding the noodles.

After the noodles were added, they bubbled up in the boiling water.

Jian Chengxi covered the pot, and when he turned around, he saw Li Suisui shaping the dough into a rabbit. It was shaped well, and it really looked quite cute.

His daughter is really talented and clever.

    She’s still quite childlike.

A smile appeared on Jian Chengxi’s face, and he patted the child’s head, saying, “Is that a little rabbit you’re making?”

Li Suisui nodded and said, “Mhm!”

Jian Chengxi’s smile deepened. “Suisui, do you like rabbits?”

“I like them!” Li Suisui’s voice was tender, soft, and crisp, particularly pleasant to hear. She looked up at Jian Chengxi and said, “Daddy, if we cook it quickly, we can eat the rabbit!”

    “…”

    This is true love.

After a while, the noodles in the pot came to a boil.

Jian Chengxi served the noodles. The cooked noodles had a fragrant wheat smell, and combined with the fresh scent of wild vegetables, it was a nostalgic feeling.

It would be great if there was some sesame oil or something to enhance the flavor right now.

Jian Chengxi felt a little regretful, but being able to eat noodles was already satisfying enough.

He divided the noodles into three bowls, then after washing the pot clean, he brushed a layer of oil in the pot. He took three eggs out of the fridge. How could there be noodles without fried eggs!

While preparing to crack the eggs, he said to the child behind him, “Stay back, don’t get splattered with oil.”

Li Suisui obediently took a few steps back.

Jian Chengxi cracked the eggs and put them into the pan, and as soon as the eggs touched the oil, the oil splattered out in tiny bursts.

The steaming hot oil collided with the eggs, and soon, the fragrance of the eggs wafted through the air. Jian Chengxi fried the eggs on both sides. He even flipped them twice, and finally took them out of the pan and placed them into the noodle bowl.

He prepared to carry it to the table.

This meal was different from the usual meals, as the noodle soup made it especially hot.

Jian Chengxi lightly touched the side of the bowl, and immediately pulled his hand back, shaking it in pain. Actually, he had been very careful. He just touched it lightly, but this body was too sensitive, so it hurt even more.

He was about to go find a cloth.

Footsteps suddenly sounded beside him, and he turned around in surprise to see Li Lingfeng.

Li Lingfeng said to him, “I’ll do it.”

Jian Chengxi asked, “Didn’t you go to handle official documents?”

Li Lingfeng replied, “I’m done with it.”

“Oh.” Jian Chengxi nodded, and said, “It’s fine, I can handle it. I’ll hold the cloth. You don’t need to, this bowl is very hot.”
