RACA 99
by LeviathanIn the season with the warmth of spring. Eunsol, feeling very nervous, boarded the car, holding Jaebeom’s hand. The due date was getting close, and they were on their way to the hospital because they decided that he would check in early and watch his condition.
“What should we do if the babies try to come out before we even get to the hospital?”
“The medical staff are waiting.”
Jaebeom comforted him with words that helped Eunsol feel calm instead of saying that everything was fine or that he shouldn’t worry. Then Eunsol’s expression darkened again because he seemed to think of something else.
“Already? Everyone is coming out early because of me and they’re having a hard time.”
“… We decided that they’re going to wait once we contact them when we get close to the hospital.”
“Oh, so that’s what it is. I’m relieved.”
When he beamed again, Jaebeom inwardly sighed in relief as he gently rubbed the back of Eunsol’s hand. The twins were growing quickly, and his spouse’s discomfort grew along with that.
Swelling in his hands and feet was normal, the pain in his back and pelvis was bad, the heartburn and indigestion were severe. There were many nights where he stayed awake because of discomfort.
During those times, Jaebeom massaged Eunsol’s arms and legs, and he helped relieve the pain with warm compresses. On nights when he couldn’t sleep, they waited for morning while they talked through the night.
He felt tired, but the trust and affection that the two of them slowly built became stronger because of that, and Jaebeom didn’t even feel like it was a hardship.
“There aren’t many days left where I’ll make you struggle.”
“I enjoyed it.”
“Lies. You’re losing sleep because of me, and now you have dark circles under your eye s? Your once smooth skin has become completely dull.”
Eunsol caressed Jaebeom’s eyes and cheek with a pitiful expression. It was true, he looked haggard, as if he had suffered so much.
“Did you not enjoy it?”
“No. I liked it. You did so well for me.”
Jaebeom kissed Eunsol’s forehead because he worried that Eunsol might feel upset, and said, “That’s why.”
“I felt the same. We could focus on each other because of the twins. Isn’t that right?”
“…That’s true.”
“That’s why you don’t need to say things like that. I really liked taking care of you and the babies.”
Jaebeom looked at Eunsol with a warm expression as Eunsol noticeably relaxed, then he turned his head. Before they knew it, the car was entering the hospital parking lot.
He told Eunsol that he would contact the medical staff when they got close, but in truth they had already been waiting at the entrance for a long time.
It was clear that the two babies were big because they were growing very well and they were expected to be alphas. Therefore, male omegas always undergo surgery for childbirth.
But Jaebeom wasn’t satisfied with only that, and he decided that he and Eunsol would stay in a special room starting the day before the due date.
“The doctor is already outside.”
Ot course, that would require a lot of money and power, but as long as Eunsol was healthy, it wouldn’t be a problem for Jaebeom.
Jaebeom waited for the car to stop while he looked at his relieved spouse. There wasn’t anything different about the admission procedure, so the two of them went straight to the hospital room.
They had already checked the room in advance, so Eunsol didn’t feel awkward and lay down on the bed.
“There really isn’t much time left now.”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
“I want to see them quickly.”
Everything was already prepared. They had set up the room for the babies, and there were three helpers to assist with childcare. Jaebeom and Chairman Jang prepared everything, but Eunsol felt secure with that alone.
While the two were chatting, the doctor knocked and came in.
“Hello, doctor.”
“Yes, Eunsol-nim. How’s your condition?”
“Mm… I’m a little scared.”
“That can happen. But you don’t need to worry too much. The babies are very healthy, and you’ll be able to meet them soon.”
“How long will the surgery take?”
Eunsol clenched his fist and looked at the doctor. Jaebeom noticed that he was nervous, and he quietly placed his hand over the back of Eunsol’s hand.
Eunsol quickly turned his hand over and he intertwined their fingers together. The doctor, watching the two of them look at each other and smile, spoke.
“It takes about an hour from preparation to recovery. The babies come into the world in about ten to twenty minutes. The rest of the time is for closing the incision and watching the condition.”
“That fast?”
Eunsol could not believe it because it would end much faster than he expected.
“Yes. And everyone here is a veteran with a lot of experience. We already prepared for anything that could happen, so don’t worry.”
Only then did Eunsol’s shoulders relax a little. Jaebeom looked down at his spouse and stroked his back.
Yes, nothing should become a serious problem. They finished all preparations, and now they only needed to meet the babies. He thought that nothing would be difficult, but the situation moved in a direction he did not expect.
Jaebeom remained in the same position after Eunsol entered the operating room. He wanted to follow inside and check the situation, but he could not, so he wanted to wait in the closest place.
Ten minutes passed and twenty minutes passed. Even after fifty minutes from the start of the surgery, Jaebeom could not sit. Je clasped his hands together and only waited for the display on the screen to change.
The two words “in surgery” remained so unchanging that it felt cruel, and that made him grow more anxious.
“The surgery still isn’t over?”
Chairman Jang appeared when one hour passed. Normally, Jaebeom would have said something, but he did not even look back and continued staring at the closed door.
At that moment, the operating room door opened and a doctor wearing protective clothing walked out.
“Lee Eunsol’s guardian?”
“Yes.”
Jaebeom, whose voice was hoarse from how nervous he was, immediately approached him.
“The surgery went well. The twins are very stable. Their heart rates and breathing are all normal.”
At this point, there was no reaction, which should have been expected, so the doctor gl anced at him and continued speaking.
“The babies are receiving basic examinations in the nursery, so you’ll be able to meet them soon.”
“How is Eunsol’s condition?”
“Ah… Lee Eunsol-nim, his surgery went well without any major bleeding. You don’t have to worry, we’ll be observing him in the recovery room for an hour or two until the anesthesia wears off.”
Only when the long wait was over did Jaebeom let out a sigh of relief. Then, Chairman Jang, who had been listening to Jaebeom’s co nversation with the doctor, tilted his head an d interjected.
“Hmm, does he really have to go to the recovery room? Wouldn’t it be better to send him straight to the sickroom and stay with him?”
“Ah, he can move once his bleeding, blood pressure, and breathing stabilize.”
The doctor quickly explained as he remembered that they were hospital VIPs. Only then did Chairman Jang nod, seemingly understanding.
“Alright, then let’s go up.”
Chairman Jang tapped Jaebeom’s shoulder, he had not moved at all in front of the operating room until then. But Jaebeom stood like he had grown roots into the floor.
“I’ll go with him when Eunsol moves to the hospital room.”
Depending on how someone looked at it, it might seem excessive. But Chairman Jang knew well how intense an alpha and an omega become when they grow close, so he nodded.
“Do that. I’ll be in front of the nursery instead of the hospital room. I should see them if I can visit.”
Normally, Jaebeom would have reacted to those words, but all his attention was on Eunsol. He let the words pass by one ear and nodded. Chairman Jang accomplished his goal and left with a pleased face.
After he waited ten more minutes, he finally heard that Eunsol would move to the hospital room. Jaebeom tightly held Eunsol’s hand as he lay on the transport bed and moved with him.
“Eunsol-ah, you worked hard. So please wake up quickly.”
He felt restless when he saw his tightly closed eyes, and he muttered to himself. He did not want to be apart even for a moment, but he had no choice but to let go of his hand when they moved him from the transport bed to the hospital room bed.
Even that made his heart feel heavy. Eunsol looked comfortable after he was moved to the soft bed.
When Jaebeom held his hand again, he felt impatience instead of relief. He wanted Eunsol to open his eyes quickly. Only then would all the things that made him so restless disappear.
“Please wake him after about an hour.”
Jaebeom, who had been checking the time minute by minute to follow the advice that it was not good to sleep for too long after anesthesia, shook Eunsol awake at exactly one hour.
“Eunsol/ah? Open your eyes.”
At first he thought it was because the anesthesia had not worn off yet. But no matter how many times he shook him, no matter how much time passed, nothing changed.
“Lee Eunsol!”
In the end, Jaebeom had to admit it. Eunsol had lost consciousness.
