The Obsessive Young Master and His Little Attendant (Part 4)

    Ning Shu nodded.

The butler turned back and added, “Oh, right. Although the young master is extremely self-disciplined, he occasionally has trouble sleeping. If he hasn’t gotten up by the usual time in the morning, I’ll have to trouble you to wake him up.”

    Ning Shu nodded again, agreeing.

But once the butler left, he stood there feeling a bit lost.

So not only does he need to raise Gu Chen’s affection value and act as his little attendant, but now he has to wake him up, too?

What if Gu Chen has a temper when he gets up? Someone like him, having a morning temper, would definitely be terrifying.

Ning Shu regretted agreeing so quickly.

About ten minutes later, Gu Chen came downstairs. He wore a Western-style school uniform, elegant and noble, as if he had stepped straight out of a comic.

Ning Shu had crossed paths with his share of wealthy young heirs before, but he had never seen anyone as flawless as Gu Chen.

Maybe he stared a little too long.

The boy’s gaze followed instantly, trailing after him like a shadow.

Ning Shu quickly lowered his head.

Naturally, he missed the sight of Gu Chen watching him for a long moment, lips lifting ever so slightly.

This little thing really thought he could sneak looks at me a few times without being noticed?

The boy’s eyes drifted to the faintly flushed tips of Ning Shu’s ears, and that dry-mouthed, restless feeling surged up again.

Gu Chen sat down at the table with practiced grace.

Ning Shu didn’t know what he was supposed to do. Was he supposed to stand on the side and watch Gu Chen eat breakfast?

He secretly rubbed his own stomach. He was a bit hungry too.

He thought his movement was subtle, but he didn’t know that Gu Chen saw every bit of it.

A hint of amusement touched the boy’s eyes.

Gu Chen realized this little thing was getting more and more interesting.

At first, he had found his father’s arrangement tedious and faintly absurd. But now, having this little creature trailing along at his side, it didn’t actually feel so bad.

    “Come here. Eat with me.”

The boy’s voice reached him, refined and pleasant to the ear, rich like the tone of a cello with a faint, magnetic depth.

Ning Shu couldn’t help lifting his head.

    He blinked.

Was Gu Chen… talking to him?

The boy tapped his fingers against the table. Those phoenix eyes slid over to him, calm and faintly cool. “Besides you, who else would I be talking to?”

Ning Shu hesitated, then obediently sat down.

He was still trying to figure out how to raise the affection value, so of course, he would follow whatever Gu Chen wanted.

Watching him sit, Gu Chen ordered the maid to bring another set of utensils.

He looked like he was in a rather good mood.

His gaze landed on the youth’s face. Ning Shu was good-looking, delicate, and especially those eyes. Just one glance made a person feel at ease.

And… he couldn’t help wondering how those eyes would look when they cried. Would they turn misty?

    They would definitely be beautiful.

Gu Chen curved his lips in a smile.

Across from him, Ning Shu shivered. He stayed quiet, biting his lip lightly.

Dining at the same table as Gu Chen brought an overwhelming sense of pressure, far beyond the ordinary.

Ling Ling chimed in, “Ding, affection value +5.”

Ning Shu was startled. He had been wracking his brain over how to raise the affection value, and now it delivered itself to him.

He glanced at the boy across the table.

A thought suddenly popped into his head. Could it be… that Gu Chen looked intimidating, but actually felt very lonely eating by himself?

Thinking this, Ning Shu felt the young master was actually a little pitiful. Others might not know, but he understood clearly what burdens children of the wealthy had to carry.

His fear of Gu Chen lessened a bit. Gathering his courage, he asked softly, “Y-Young Master, may I accompany you at meals from now on?”
