After saying that, Xu Wanhe casually tossed the little card onto the table.

But he threw it too hard, so the card skimmed across the tabletop and fell to the floor.

The underling nearby bent down, just about to pick it up, but Xu Wanhe happened to stand up and walk over.

Seeing Xu Wanhe’s shoe step right on the card, the guy straightened up and didn’t reach for it again.

Xu Wanhe didn’t notice a thing. He just glanced at the bouquet nearby and felt irritated as hell.

    “Get rid of them.”

After finishing his meal, Yang Moshou returned to the hospital and plucked a small yellow flower from the flowerbed. Back in the office, he stuck it into a plastic water bottle.

He thought about how he had never received flowers in his whole life. But then again, a grown man receiving flowers was pretty dumb anyway.

Still, he had to give it to him for even thinking of that. No wonder he never managed to win that guy over.

It shouldn’t be that hard to chase after a man. Just feed him well. Take himself, for example. If a guy wanted to win him over, all he had to do was bring a few bags of food every day and fill up his fridge. After that, any position was fair game. Slap his ass or tie up his dick, he wouldn’t even cry.

Yang Moshou let out a sigh.

    Seriously.

That blockhead really didn’t have a heart. Could have gone after someone so easy to please, but chose to run after a rich beauty instead.

By the time it hit three in the afternoon, Xu Wanhe still hadn’t called. He had no idea how it went over there, but it probably didn’t end well.

Just as he was thinking about it, his phone rang. It was a call from Xiao Shitou, the same guy who drank himself half-dead with him the other night, and later got beaten down by Xu Wanhe.

Xiao Shitou sounded a lot more upbeat now. “Xiao Yang, want to hang out after work?”

Yang Moshou frowned slightly and glanced at the wilting flower in the water bottle. “What for?”

“You were complaining the other day that no one liked you. I’ll introduce you to someone… we’re together right now… come out with us tonight.”

Yang Moshou poured more water into the bottle, and the flower did look a little perkier. He wasn’t sure if it was real or just in his head. “We’ll see. If no one calls me after work, I’ll go.”

“Come on. Who are you waiting for? Just come. This guy’s totally your type. Tall and pretty good-looking.”

“No,” Yang Moshou glanced at the clock on the wall. “I’m already tired from chasing one person. I don’t want to go after another.”

“Maybe he’ll be the one chasing you. I showed him your photo on my phone. He really wants to meet you. Said you look very likable.”

Yang Moshou didn’t say anything. He opened the drawer, pulled out a small mirror, and took a long look at himself.

After a pause, he finally said, “I actually look way better up close than from afar. At first glance I look like I have single eyelids, but up close I’ve got hidden double lids.”

“Alright then. After work, we’ll be waiting for you at the gate. Don’t stand us up.”
Xiao Shitou said that and hung up.

Yang Moshou didn’t react much. He went on to see two more patients, dropped by Dr. Wang’s office to snack on some cherries, and the afternoon just flew by.

Still no word from Xu Wanhe. Yang Moshou called him once, but he didn’t pick up. So he didn’t bother trying again.

As the end of the workday approached, a sudden emptiness crept into his chest. He didn’t feel like rushing downstairs to clock out. Instead, he stayed by his desk and began tidying up his drawer.

At the very bottom, he unexpectedly found the bed tag from when Xu Wanhe was hospitalized.

It was filthy, covered in shoe prints.

He stared at it for a while, then suddenly remembered something.

Right. That guy had basically raped him once.

The thought jolted him upright. He stood up straight, combed his hair neatly in front of the mirror, then crouched down and spent quite a while polishing his leather shoes.

After that, he headed downstairs, pretending to go on a date but really just tagging along for a free meal.
