EWH Extra 3
by Slashh-XOThis place hadn’t seen such a grand banquet in a long time. It was packed with big names, all the city’s elites showing up in full force. The last time something like this happened was two years ago.
But that night ended badly, with two bosses getting stabbed, one of them even ending up in a coma.
Since then, they had not held any more events like this.
When Xu Wanhe got the invitation, he was a little reluctant.
God knows how many people would be craning their necks waiting to watch him make a fool of himself.
His comeback was already considered a miracle. Not just because he woke up, but because he managed to reclaim all his old territory in the shortest time possible, and even took over Tang Ziyan’s turf.
This party, just like last time, was being thrown using the name of a big shot, pulling together all the major players.
Because it was a formal event, Xu Wanhe put away his usual flashy clothes and, for once, wore a suit.
At that time, Yang Moshou was lounging on the couch at Xu Wanhe’s place, gnawing on a nectarine.
After getting dressed, Xu Wanhe stood in front of him.
“How do I look?”
Yang Moshou stared at the floral shirt under the suit jacket and the gold chain around his neck.
“Where the hell are you planning to go dressed like that?”
“Going to a more formal gathering,” Xu Wanhe said, then turned to ask the people around him, “How do I look?”
“Looks good, Xu-ge.”
Yang Moshou put down the nectarine in his hand.
“Is Tang Ziyan going too?”
“Of course.”
Xu Wanhe checked himself in the mirror. Thinking the gold chain around his neck looked a little too thin, he swapped it for a thicker one.
“Probably going to have dinner there too. Go clean yourself up, you are coming with me tonight.”
As soon as Yang Moshou heard Tang Ziyan’s name, he took a savage bite out of the nectarine and chewed hard.
“Why the hell are you bringing me?”
Xu Wanhe had wanted to say something like, “I found myself a young little lover and I gotta show him off in front of Tang Ziyan,”
but with so many of his underlings in the house, he was too embarrassed to say it out loud.
He changed his chain, then glanced at Yang Moshou again.
“They’ve got damn good food.”
Yang Moshou immediately sprang off the couch, ready to head home and get dressed.
Xu Wanhe grabbed him.
“Hold up. Take a good look. How do I look now?”
Yang Moshou turned back, ran his fingers along the thick chain on Xu Wanhe’s neck.
“Honestly, if your suit was two sizes bigger, you would look just like a rapper from a coal mine. Xiao Mei, all you are missing is a baseball cap.”
Xu Wanhe froze for a long moment.
He could not hide the disappointment, but still forced himself to act tough.
“You little fucker… weren’t you always saying I was handsome as hell…”
Yang Moshou pulled off the diamond ring from Xu Wanhe’s hand.
“I never said you weren’t handsome. Even dressed like this, you are still my coal mine god.”
After saying that, he put the ring away, went to the walk-in closet, and picked out a plain shirt.
“Why do you have to make yourself look so flashy… wear this one instead.”
Xu Wanhe looked a little embarrassed.
“What do you mean flashy? You don’t know shit…”
Yang Moshou tossed the shirt at him.
“Oh right, you are black and flashy. Hurry up and put it on. Trust me, I’m definitely making you look good.”
Xu Wanhe thought about it and figured he had a point, so he went to change out of the floral shirt.
Once he was fully dressed, even the boys standing nearby started praising him.
“Fuck, Xu-ge looks seriously good this time…”
“That’s not Xu-ge anymore… who does he look like… Jiang Wen, that’s who…”
Xu Wanhe had half a mind to curse them out, but hearing all those compliments, he kept his mouth shut. Deep down, he was starting to see Yang Moshou in a new light.
That little doctor was becoming more and more likeable.
He even had a damn good eye for fashion.
Yang Moshou glanced at him and thought,
Xu Wanhe had a great figure for clothes, but he insisted on spending a ton of money to make himself look ridiculous. If he just wore something normal, he would look sharp enough.
After fixing up Xu Wanhe, Yang Moshou dragged him back to his own place to find something decent to wear himself.
Because Xu Wanhe had always wanted to wear matching outfits with Yang Moshou, he pestered him until he agreed to wear socks that matched his shirt.
But that still was not enough.
Xu Wanhe even dragged him to the mall to buy two matching watches before he was finally satisfied.
The party was scheduled to start at six in the evening. Xu Wanhe deliberately showed up at six thirty.
He said, “Showing up late makes you look important. Showing up early makes you look like a dumbass standing around.”
Yang Moshou didn’t say anything, but he was secretly judging the hell out of him.
The guy had been getting ready since morning. He clearly gave a damn, but still had to act like he didn’t.
—
The chandelier hung high above the domed ceiling.
Below, it was a sea of suits and evening gowns.
On the red velvet sofa across the room, a man sat with a solemn face, though his words carried a faint complaint.
“Tang-ge, you probably won’t even believe it,” Yang De sighed. “The day my dad died… that guy was outside lighting fucking fireworks…”
Tang Ziyan smiled faintly, quietly wondering how that old fox Lao Mo managed to raise someone as dumb as Yang De.
But on the surface, he stayed calm and composed.
“Must’ve just been a coincidence…”
Suddenly, a stir came from the entrance.
Several people rushed over to greet the newcomer with eager handshakes and wide grins, bowing and buttering up with nonstop small talk.
Yang De stood up and glanced over, his face darkening.
Tang Ziyan stayed comfortably seated on the couch, swirling the liquor in his glass as he watched the arrogant figure at the door.
Some people were just born with presence.
Like that man.
Just standing there, even without a single bodyguard behind him, whether he was holding a gun or a kitchen knife, this man would still look like a boss.
Xu Wanhe was exactly that kind of person.
Flashy, arrogant, walking in alone like he was leading a whole entourage.
Behind Tang Ziyan, Fei Qi leaned in slightly.
“Tang-ge, should I tell Xiao Shen to make himself scarce?”
“No need.” Tang Ziyan traced his finger around the rim of his glass.
“Xu Wanhe cares too much about his face. He won’t do anything crazy in front of this many people.”
Yang Moshou followed behind Xu Wanhe, and the moment he stepped inside, he felt that the man’s cocky, powerful aura was impossible to block out.
A lot of people came over to greet Xu Wanhe, but he ignored most of them, only exchanging a few words with a couple of older-looking men.
Yang Moshou looked around the venue.
There were not that many people, and plenty of security guards stationed around.
He was just thinking about finding something to eat when he spotted Tang Ziyan sitting in a corner at the back.
He looked refined and elegant, not one bit like a gangster.
Tang Ziyan noticed the unfamiliar face beside Xu Wanhe.
It was a pretty boy, clean-cut, clearly not one of his underlings. No matter how you looked at it, he was obviously a little bed partner.
Yang Moshou gave Tang Ziyan a polite smile, but in his heart, he was wishing that glass of wine in his hand would spill all over him.
Xu Wanhe was busy chatting endlessly with a few old men.
Yang Moshou stood there bored out of his mind. He said a few words to the people behind him, then started wandering off, planning to find something to eat.
There were several private rooms lining the venue. He walked along the floral carpet, just casually strolling.
That’s when he spotted something on the floor. A cigarette butt?
He bent down, planning to pick it up and toss it into a trash can.
But before his fingers touched it, he realized it was not a cigarette butt at all.
It was a small piece of a severed finger.
Disgust shot up his spine like a jolt. His scalp tingled, and he kicked the thing away in a panic before turning to bolt back,
but after only a couple of steps, he crashed into someone around the corner, getting stepped on in the process.
“Sorry,” the guy said quickly.
Yang Moshou was just about to speak when he looked up and realized the guy looked kind of familiar.
“I think I’ve seen you somewhere before.”
Shen Han clearly didn’t recognize him. “Huh? What’s wrong?”
Yang Moshou stared at him for a while before it clicked.
“Oh… it’s you. Aren’t you the one who looks like Yang Lu?”
Shen Han gave a noncommittal response, then lowered his head, glancing around the floor.
Yang Moshou could not help asking.
“What are you looking for?”
Shen Han glanced around and, seeing nothing, frowned slightly.
“I dropped something.”
“You dropped your wallet?”
Shen Han laughed, flashing a mouthful of white teeth.
“…Not exactly. Just a small item.”
After saying that, he waved at Yang Moshou.
“I’m gonna head off.”
Just as he turned, Yang Moshou caught sight of his hand and froze.
The guy only had four fingers.
“You’re not looking for a little finger, are you?”
Shen Han looked a little surprised.
“Yeah.”
“Come with me.”
Yang Moshou led him back to where he had seen the thing earlier.
Luckily, that little piece was still lying by the wall and had not been thrown away as trash.
He watched as Shen Han picked up the prosthetic finger and attached it back onto his hand where the little finger was missing.
Yang Moshou thought it was a shame. Good-looking guy, but turned out to be disabled.
Shen Han seemed pretty happy. He thanked him a few times.
Before Yang Moshou could say anything else, one of Xu Wanhe’s guys called him back.
“Xiao Yang-ge, Xu-ge wants you.”
For a moment, Yang Moshou felt like Shen Han’s eyes darkened slightly, but maybe he was just imagining it.
Yang Moshou just waved at him and followed the underling out of the hallway toward the main hall.
Xu Wanhe was already sitting across from Tang Ziyan, talking about something.
As soon as Yang Moshou arrived, Xu Wanhe grabbed him and pulled him close.
Right into his lap.
Tang Ziyan kept his usual pleasant smile. “And this is?”
“How should I put it… my boyfriend. He’s a doctor. Neurology. When you get old and senile, you can go to him.”
Yang Moshou lowered his eyes and looked at Xu Wanhe, instantly feeling like he was acting like some lovesick teenage girl.
Tang Ziyan suddenly found himself extremely curious about this little doctor.
Xu Wanhe had been single for so many years, always keeping people at a distance.
This young doctor, looking neither too humble nor too cocky, actually managed to tame someone like Xu Wanhe. That was no small feat.
Before Yang Moshou could say a word, Xu Wanhe jumped in again.
“I feel like it’s way more useful for a gangster to know a doctor… knowing cops doesn’t mean shit.”
“A very good profession indeed,” Tang Ziyan nodded, glancing at Yang Moshou. “Nice shirt color.”
Hearing that, Xu Wanhe immediately crossed one leg over the other, trying his best to show off the socks that matched Yang Moshou’s shirt.
Unfortunately, Tang Ziyan did not seem to notice at all.
Seeing him struggle like that, Yang Moshou casually said,
“Honey, why are you wearing those socks?”
Xu Wanhe was beyond satisfied with Yang Moshou’s reaction.
While silently praising his cleverness, he kept up a look of casual indifference.
“Aren’t they the ones you gave me? I just like wearing the stuff you buy for me.”
Tang Ziyan saw right through it but only smiled even more warmly.
“The socks are nice too. They match really well.”
Xu Wanhe was completely satisfied now.
“By the way, how come I don’t see that little cop of yours? What happened? Did you two fight? Or was he out screwing around, caught something, and had to go to the hospital?”
Tang Ziyan could not help laughing a little.
“No, he is around somewhere. Probably wandered off to play.”
Xu Wanhe let out a snort. “Tch… can’t compare. Look at our Xiao Yang. He’s stuck to me ever since we walked in. Refuses to leave. I even tried shooing him off and he wouldn’t go.”
Yang Moshou gave him a side-eye.
“Yeah. Just now while you were chatting with Tang-ge, I was squatting behind the couch.”
“Oh… that doesn’t count…”
Xu Wanhe suddenly realized he was bragging a little too much and felt a bit embarrassed.
“Alright, go have some fun yourself. I need to talk to your Tang-ge for a bit.”
Hearing that, Yang Moshou pulled out his phone and started playing Tetris.
Tang Ziyan had wanted to continue talking about Yang De, but before he could open his mouth, he caught Xu Wanhe staring at Yang Moshou with an expression full of admiration.
“This game is seriously hard… snake game and stuff are way too low-level…”
Yang Moshou kept his eyes on the screen, playing his game.
“If you want to learn, I can teach you.”
Xu Wanhe lifted his eyelids, a bit of ash from his cigarette falling onto his pants.
“Really? I’ve always wanted to learn.”
Yang Moshou chuckled twice.
“Got to pay tuition, Xiao Mei-ge.”
Xu Wanhe smacked him, but not hard.
“Fuck off. Don’t call me that in front of people.”
Tang Ziyan watched all of this and, for some reason, felt oddly at ease.
He later understood what that man had given up for him, and how much he had lost because of it.
But there was no way to repay it. That was just how it was.
People can give everything they have to love one person selflessly, yet turn a blind eye to the love someone else gives them just as deeply.
