Chapter 46 – Scenarios for the Passenger Seat
by Salted Fish“You wait,” Bian Ji’s tongue was sluggish, his speech slurred, but he couldn’t help feeling nervous as he saw someone approaching from a distance. “There’s someone.”
Yan Ankuo took a deep breath, finally letting go of him, frowning slightly before suddenly starting the engine and driving deeper into the night.
Bian Ji didn’t ask where they were going, nor did he open the window, allowing the car to be swallowed by the darkness.
When they reached an open terrace, the sounds of mountain birdsong accompanied by waves of grassy fragrance came upon them. Bian Ji opened his eyes to see no one outside, with the distant lights of countless homes below.
“How about this,” Bian Ji joked, “Still not tired of the mountains?”
Yan Ankuo parked by the side, leaning over next to his seat, unfastening his seatbelt, and pulling him into his arms. “No one here, and it’s closest.”
“Close? What do you want to do?”
Bian Ji asked with a smile, Yan Ankuo gazed at him deeply, not answering.
“So impatient?” Bian Ji continued to tease Yan Ankuo, tilting his head up and giving him a not-so-light bite on the chin. “Brother, your character’s falling apart.”
Yan Ankuo said with a mix of amusement and exasperation, “When have I ever had such a thing?”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Yan Ankuo undid his own seatbelt, pressing Bian Ji back into the seat.
Bian Ji’s lips were rounded, the texture like a pearl, soft like an oyster when held in the mouth, which made Yan Ankuo unable to let go.
Yan Ankuo cradled the back of his head. His hands moved so gently, yet his mouth was quite aggressive, causing Bian Ji to become slightly hypoxic from kissing, forcing him to pull back some to breathe fresh air before continuing.
“Do you know what I like about the Lincoln?” When Bian Ji pulled away from his lips, Yan Ankuo had a brief moment of distraction, enough for conversation. “It’s elongated, so there’s plenty of space.”
Bian Ji, due to his brain short-circuiting, wasn’t quite clear-minded as he said, “So you can do anything you want here?”
It was meant as a question, but with Bian Ji, it sounded more like a command.
Yan Ankuo’s gaze darkened instantly. He gripped Bian Ji’s jaw, forcefully bringing him down.
Bian Ji only realized after helping him undress that this person had actually worn suspenders.
Black straps clasped around his legs, contrasting sharply with the white shirt, highlighting the muscles in a faint outline.
Bian Ji didn’t know how to express himself, “You really are…”
Yan Ankuo appeared to be a paragon of virtue, “What’s wrong?”
“Unfair.” Bian Ji said.
The moon hung high in the wilderness, its light barely penetrating the small, dim interior of the car.
Bian Ji’s uniform was made of sturdy material, while Yan Ankuo’s shirt was soft, the two textures bumping together, making rustling sounds in the darkness.
Both dressed formally, except for a few unbuttoned buttons and unusually flushed faces, they looked almost normal.
Yan Ankuo watched the fuzzy head rising and falling on his chest, inadvertently tilting his neck back like a prey waiting to be captured, exposing the vulnerable veins on his neck.
After a while, Bian Ji couldn’t help but cough a few times. He also learned today that Yan Ankuo had a mild case of OCD, because after they finished, Yan Ankuo meticulously wiped each finger that had been touched with alcohol wipes.
Contrary to this observation, he vaguely remembered that Yan Ankuo, right in front of him, teasingly licked his fingers in a playful manner.
Bian Ji coughed twice, asking indistinctly, “Do you have wet wipes and mineral water?”
Yan Ankuo was rather malicious, asking knowingly, “For what?”
Bian Ji was neither shy nor embarrassed, instead joking along, “To wipe my mouth.”
“…” Yan Ankuo felt embarrassed after realizing what he meant, finding the wet wipes for him and carefully helping him clean up, his fingertips pressing against the soft lips, moving back and forth. “So red.”
Even someone as strong as Bian Ji would get sore after long hours of work. He said helplessly, “Yan Ankuo, I’m a bit scared now.”
Yan Ankuo was about to ask, but seeing his expression, he understood, preemptively saying, “Don’t worry, it won’t always be this long.”
Bian Ji burst out laughing, his laughter carried away by the evening breeze in the vast night.
Chilled by the wind, Yan Ankuo’s reason slowly returned. He quietly stared at the moon for a while, seemingly struggling with himself, taking a long time before confessing to Bian Ji, “I admit, I lost control just now because I saw Chang Qing.”
Bian Ji was taken aback, not expecting Yan Ankuo to seriously reflect on something like this, so he explained seriously, “He’s just a colleague. We happened to be in the same group this time, so we communicated a little more. If you don’t like it — “
“I know.” Yan Ankuo reached out to stroke his hair, “But the way he looks at you, you should understand too.”
Bian Ji fell silent.
“You’re so good, it’s normal for people to like you.” Yan Ankuo spoke softly, as if reflecting on himself, “But I can’t help but wonder, with so many likes and temptations, will you leave me.”
Bian Ji reassured him, “How could that be?”
Yan Ankuo nodded, then asked, “Are you annoyed by me?”
Bian Ji was puzzled, “Annoyed by what?”
Annoyed by the fact that I get jealous when I see you talking to others, annoyed by the fact that I want to confine you every day, want to leave marks on every corner of your body, want to tie you up in the bedroom so no one else can see you, want you to only be with me.
These dark thoughts, Yan Ankuo didn’t dare to say a word, afraid of scaring him away. He stroked Bian Ji’s hair, remaining silent.
The two stayed in the car until the night grew deeper. Later, Bian Ji also grabbed Yan Ankuo’s hair, dirtying the car again.
By the time Yan Ankuo used up all the alcohol wipes, Bian Ji leaned on his shoulder, hearing him ask, “Where do you want to go later?”
Bian Ji said, “I won’t go home first, I need to visit my brother.”
After being together for so long, this was the first time Yan Ankuo heard Bian Ji talk about his family. He asked, “You have a younger brother?”
“Hmm.”
“A blood-related younger brother?”
“Sort of.”
“You’ve never mentioned him.”
“He’s too young, still in college.” Bian Ji didn’t elaborate.
Yan Ankuo said, “Then I’ll take you there.”
“No need, it’s close by, I can go myself.”
“How close is close?”
“Just a few kilometers.”
“I’ll take you.”
When Yan Ankuo insisted, no one could argue with him. Bian Ji could only say “okay.” Yan Ankuo asked him to input the location, but Bian Ji didn’t enter the name of the residential area, instead finding a nearby subway station to input.
Yan Ankuo gave him a strange look, but didn’t ask further, following the navigation.
The map showed that the journey was at least nine kilometers. Yan Ankuo asked, “You call this close?”
Bian Ji scratched his head, “Didn’t want to trouble you.”
“Bian Ji,” Yan Ankuo confirmed, “We’re a couple, right?”
“Of course.”
“So why are you being so polite?”
“Not that,” Bian Ji wanted to explain, but found it hard to put into words, “Won’t happen again.”
Arriving near the subway station, Yan Ankuo said “we’re here,” and confirmed whether he needed another ride. Bian Ji denied it, getting out of the car. Yan Ankuo didn’t close the door for a long time. Bian Ji asked him what was wrong, and he said he wanted a goodnight kiss.
“You really are…” Bian Ji walked up helplessly, leaning through the half-open window, giving Yan Ankuo a peck on the forehead. “Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.” Yan Ankuo said.
Bian Ji watched the black car drive past him, waving goodbye.
