Note: From Song Dynasty’s Zhao Delin’s “Record of Houqing”: “When Li Bai visited the chancellor during the Kaiyuan period, he presented a board with the words ‘Li Bai, the sea turtle angler.’ The chancellor asked, ‘Mr. Li, facing the vast ocean, fishing for a giant turtle, what do you use as your fishing line?’ Li Bai replied, ‘I let the wind and waves free my emotions, the heaven and earth broaden my aspirations; I use rainbows as thread and the moon as a hook.’ Then he was asked, ‘What do you use as bait?’ He replied, ‘I use the indifferent husbands of the world as bait.’ The chancellor was shocked at the time.”
