When Dohee woke up, he saw over twenty missed calls from Yeohoo. It was just past noon. He must have slept through the alarm he’d set for eleven.

He didn’t bother calling back. It was obviously just Yeohoo nagging him about whether he’d checked the Demon Hunter update yet. Rubbing his sleepy eyes, Dohee logged into the official Sword of God website. A big banner for the Demon Hunter teaser video, GM Saena’s story, and the second Winter Festival announcement filled the screen.

The second Winter Festival mainly consisted of short, light event quests, easier than the first. Aside from the usual attendance event, most of them could be completed in a couple of days. It seemed NGA was intentionally giving players plenty of time to prepare for the Demon Hunter raid. Skimming through the event page, Dohee then started reading GM Saena’s story carefully.

Whenever a new raid was added, GM Saena’s story opened alongside it, offering rich background lore and useful hints. It wasn’t something to skim over lightly. Everyone in the guild had been eagerly waiting for this very ‘GM Saena’s Story.’ Even her tone in these was different from her usual update posts.

    [Notice][Info] GM Saena’s Story

    Saena’s Fourth Story.

The planet Yubriel seemed to be regaining peace, free from the touch of the ‘Snow Witch of Vengeance.’

But in Denme, a harsh desert kingdom, flowers of change slowly bloomed in a small rural village.

    The child’s name was Jubite.

Born the youngest son of a wealthy merchant family, Jubite lived happily, showered with love from his parents.

One day, a mysterious old jade-colored box arrived, addressed to his parents.

Inside was a jade-colored orb matching the box’s hue.

Thinking it a misdelivered gift, the family decided to store it away in their warehouse until they could find the owner.

But from that night on, Jubite began hearing strange wails that kept him from sleeping.

Eventually, unable to bear it, Jubite followed the sound, opened the box, and touched the orb.

In an instant, the screams released from the broken orb consumed the village and plunged Jubite’s life into darkness.

When he came to, Jubite realized he had ruined everything, and so began a long journey to find the sender of the box.

At the journey’s end, he discovered a cult that worshipped demons as gods.

The cult’s plan was to spread demon-imbued jade orbs across all continents of Yubriel.

Upon learning this, Jubite sought out a holy weapon that could kill demons and eventually earned the title of “Demon Hunter.”

Wielding the sacred gun blessed by the goddess Kelathus, he began purging demonic power from across the continents.

But then, Jubite uncovered the truth about the cult’s origins, that it all stemmed from human greed.

The sacred gun, Babru, could not withstand Jubite’s growing rage and confusion and lost its power. Jubite himself fell into corruption.

Now, over 150 years later, the lost Demon Hunter awakens.

Can Yubriel’s adventurers put Jubite to rest and restore Babru’s power to carve a new history?

A barren desert where even oases are rare, ruins of a buried Cult, and jubite’s lost footprints.

Adventurers now embark on this long journey.

“If your sincerity reaches the heavens, you’ll gain strong allies. If you pray to the gods, a bright light shall illuminate your path.”

When the Empire’s swords unite, a new age of salvation will dawn.

Dohee read the notice multiple times, then powered on his computer and logged into Sword of God. The guild chat was already buzzing. He checked the game talk chat. There was nothing from Knockoff aside from a message saying he’d gone to the library. Knockoff still struggled with checking homepage announcements even on update days. He probably knew it was patch day but didn’t think to look up the details.

The guild chat was ablaze, thanks to the details people were digging out of GM Saena’s journal.

[Guild] 4EvilPrettyGirl: I think level 130 means it won’t be too absurdly hard.

[Guild] SiblingSpicyNoodle: But come on ** they said we need special coordination ** seriously ** what the hell

[Guild] YeohooHae: Looks like Demon Hunter has 3 phases

[Guild] YeohooHae: A barren desert where even oases are rare

    [Guild] YeohooHae: Underground cult ruins

    [Guild] YeohooHae: Jubite’s Lost Footprints

[Guild] YeohooHae: Sounds like it’s split into 3 parts?

[Guild] YeohooHae: Anyway, will you bring GoSupp character instead of AssaGo for this?

[Guild] Tando: Probably better that way…? hehe

[Guild] Tando: They straight up said we need unique class skills

[Guild] Tando: Didn’t expect NGA to spell it out that clearly lol

Dohee clutched his pounding head. He’d logged in while Knockoff was gone specifically because he had something to say about this. But now that he’d seen it spelled out so clearly, the headache doubled.

“You’ll need special cooperation and unique skills from various classes. Form a diverse party.” He hadn’t expected them to lay it out so blatantly. Whether any classes besides Supports had ultimate or hidden skills capable of negating wipe mechanics was unclear. But from what Dohee knew, only Supports had those kinds of unique skills.

They didn’t name-drop Supports, but the phrase “various classes” suggested other useful skills might exist in different jobs, too. Still, the hint about forming a party with multiple classes couldn’t be ignored. Avoiding duplicate classes seemed key.

Either way, most people were leaning toward bringing a Supporter in public raids. And now that NGA had prepped the ground like this, it was impossible to argue against it.

It was just Dohee’s speculation, but maybe NGA had done this to help certain rarer classes like Supporters who were struggling to get into raids. If that was the case, he might seriously have to challenge the full-clear with his main, GoingSupporter.

Actually, no, he would have to. There was no “maybe” about it.

Dohee’s instincts were screaming that this was the only way.
