Chapter 34 – Plump Crybaby
by Salted Fish————Six Years Later————
And so, Wei Lai spent a long time reminiscing about how he fell for Chu Yin, narrating it like an old man writing his memoirs. He drank three glasses of water before finally finishing, leaving Chu Yin totally confused and dumbfounded.
If this were a novel, readers would have long forgotten what the author wrote in the earlier chapters by this point.
That’s exactly how Chu Yin felt—Wei Lai had completely missed the point, veering off-topic by a thousand miles.
Chu Yin frowned and said, “…So, how did you fall for me?”
Wei Lai choked on his water. “Didn’t I just explain that? I talked for almost half an hour!”
Chu Yin shook his head, trying to parse through it all. “I don’t get it. I know very clearly that I fell in love with you because of that stormy day when you came to save me. I was lying there, filthy, and you held me in your arms. But after everything you just said, I still don’t understand. So, in the end, you just lust after my body!”
Unlike Chu Yin, Wei Lai couldn’t pinpoint a single moment when his heart skipped a beat.
Maybe it was when he lied about having a terminal illness, and the crybaby wailed loudly in his ear.
Maybe it was when his face froze, and Chu Yin cupped his cheeks, nuzzling him affectionately.
Maybe it was when Chu Yin stood under the stars, solemnly handing Yating a piece of dried fish.
There were too many moments, trickling into Wei Lai’s mind until the accumulation triggered a qualitative change. Suddenly, one day, he realized he could no longer imagine life without Chu Yin.
However, Wei Lai was too exhausted to explain anymore. So, in a daze, he did something he would deeply regret in the days to come.
Wei Lai pressed his index finger against Chu Yin’s belly, sinking into the soft flesh. “You say I lust after your body, but think about it—you’ve gotten so chubby. How can I still love you this much?”
Chu Yin bristled and poked Wei Lai’s stomach in retaliation. “That’s because you’re way fatter than me! Your rolls have rolls!”
Wei Lai refused to accept this and dragged Chu Yin onto the scale. The results showed they were equally matched—one plump as an orange cat, the other rotund like a corporate boss.
Chu Yin huffed, “I’m not that fat, I’ve just lost muscle!”
Wei Lai laughed, stroking Chu Yin’s soft belly. “So what if you’ve gained weight? It’s nice and squishy.”
Chu Yin slapped his hand away, thinking, Could it be that I’ve gotten fat, and that’s why Wei Lai cheated? He has no standards for me—maybe he’s found some guy with an eight-pack out there.
Chu Yin declared, “I’m going on a diet.”
Coming from a modeling background, Chu Yin was well-versed in weight loss. He gathered all the snacks in the house into a bag. “Later, give these to Yun Yun.”
Wei Lai: “…What about me? Aren’t these all my snacks?”
Chu Yin said ominously, “You’re dieting with me.”
Wei Lai: “!”
