Chapter 91 – The Coming-Out Pro
by Salted FishChu Yin held grudges like no other. It wasn’t just because Wei Gangzheng had sprayed him with water that year—Chu Yin also believed he had treated Wei Lai terribly.
When the door opened, Chu Yin stood there, exuding an unfriendly chill, blocking the entrance as he glared at Wei Gangzheng.
Wei Gangzheng was startled and sized Chu Yin up.
He didn’t recognize Chu Yin as the suspicious man who had lurked outside his house looking for Wei Lai all those years ago. But given Chu Yin’s level of fame, of course, he knew who he was—he’d even seen some of Chu Yin’s early films. Back when Chu Yin was under Chen Meixian’s management, he only took on roles that fit his tough-guy persona. So, in Wei Gangzheng’s mind, Chu Yin was the epitome of masculinity.
Wei Gangzheng couldn’t understand how someone like Chu Yin could end up with his son.
Wei Gangzheng demanded, “Where is Wei Lai?”
Chu Yin replied, “He’s not here.”
Wei Gangzheng asked, “Where did he go?”
Chu Yin said, “Not telling you.”
Wei Gangzheng: “…”
The atmosphere instantly turned awkward.
Wei Gangzheng vaguely sensed that this Chu Yin was different from the righteous, long-suffering undercover agent he’d seen on TV—the one who infiltrated the Nationalist Party and ultimately died an unyielding martyr for his country. But he couldn’t quite put his finger on how exactly they differed.
Realizing he was at a disadvantage in terms of presence, Wei Gangzheng tried to regain the upper hand and demanded, “What’s your relationship with Wei Lai!?”
He expected Chu Yin to be hesitant, awkward, and evasive—after all, sleeping with men was supposed to be shameful. Instead, Chu Yin’s eyes lit up.
Chu Yin loved coming out!
While others might come from afar to deliver themselves as easy targets, Wei Gangzheng had practically traveled a thousand miles just to hand him the closet door!
Chu Yin shifted his posture, suppressing his pride and joy as much as possible, and said as nonchalantly as he could, “I’m Wei Lai’s boyfriend. We’ve been together for years.”
Wei Gangzheng’s face darkened, his chest tightened, and the blood pressure monitor on his wrist started beeping frantically.
Right at that moment, Wei Lai, wearing an eye mask, slowly made his way downstairs. Seeing Chu Yin blocking the door, he asked, “What are you doing? Where’s that beeping coming from?”
Chu Yin: “Getting a package.”
Wei Gangzheng was practically fuming. He roared, “WEI LAI!!!”
Wei Lai froze mid-step, finally locating the source of the beeping.
In his memory, Wei Gangzheng was always flanked by a secretary and a bodyguard, his hair jet-black and his expression stern. But the man at the door now wore a standard old man’s undershirt, his temples streaked with gray—he had aged significantly. After years of estrangement, for his father to show up unannounced now, something must have happened.
Wei Lai stepped forward and patted Chu Yin’s back soothingly. “Why are you here?”
Wei Gangzheng asked, “Are Yan Xueni and Wei Gui at your place?”
His first question upon seeing his son was to ask about his mistress and younger son—so very on-brand for Wei Gangzheng. Wei Lai smirked. “Your wife, your son—and you’re asking me? Can’t you just call them yourself?”
Wei Gangzheng said, “The housekeeper said they came to see you.”
Wei Lai replied, “We met. But they’re not here. Call them yourself if you want to know. Anything else?”
Wei Gangzheng said coldly, “Is this how you talk to your father? Wei Lai, where are your manners? Is your idea of hospitality keeping guests waiting outside the door?”
Wei Lai was genuinely taken aback. “Wait—are you actually here to chat?”
Wei Gangzheng said, “I can’t reach Xueni. I’ll wait here for her.”
Wei Lai sighed.
Objectively speaking, before their relationship fell apart, Wei Gangzheng had never deprived him materially. The reason Wei Lai couldn’t move past their rift was that he had desperately wanted his father’s approval and affection.
Now that he was middle-aged, many things no longer bothered him. Besides, Chu Yin had already given him so much affirmation and love that Wei Lai’s mindset had mellowed considerably.
Wei Lai tugged at Chu Yin to step aside. “Fine, come in and sit down.”
Chu Yin pursed his lips and poured Wei Gangzheng a cup of tea.
Chu Yin and Wei Lai’s home was decorated warmly—not at all like the residence of two grown men.
Wei Gangzheng recalled a saying he’d heard: If a man’s room is spotless and odor-free, the owner is either trans or gay. His face twitched. Wei Lai’s room had been unnervingly clean as a child—how had he never noticed the signs?!
Sipping his tea like a high-ranking official, Wei Gangzheng asked, “How have you been all these years?”
Wei Lai said, “Pretty happy.”
In that moment, he forgot about his hemorrhoids and sat down on the couch as usual—only for a sharp pain to shoot through his ass, making him grimace and leap back up.
Wei Gangzheng: “…”
Chu Yin hurriedly steadied Wei Lai and whispered, “Let’s just go straight to the hospital.”
Wei Gangzheng shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
In his mind, penetrating another man’s ass was unnatural. Seeing Wei Lai like this, it was obvious Chu Yin had gone too hard on him last night! The “happiness” Wei Lai mentioned was probably just sexual satisfaction!
Wei Gangzheng prided himself on being as unyielding as steel—crushing anyone who dared oppose him. Who would’ve thought his own son would not only like men but also be the one getting fucked?!
Wei Gangzheng’s wrist monitor started beeping wildly again.
Wei Lai cursed, “Fuck, why’s it going off like that? Where’re your blood pressure meds?”
Wei Gangzheng clutched his chest. “Didn’t bring them. Who knew you’d piss me off this much?”
Wei Lai was baffled. “I said I was happy, and that pissed you off? You just can’t stand to see me doing well.”
Wei Gangzheng’s lips paled with fury.
Chu Yin grew anxious. “Wei Lai, should we take your dad to the hospital too? He looks like he’s about to die.”
Wei Gangzheng: “…”
In the end, Chu Yin drove both Wei father and son to the hospital.
While Wei Lai was undergoing hemorrhoid surgery, Yan Xueni arrived with Wei Gui.
Chu Yin waited outside the operating room, wearing sunglasses. Though his eyes were hidden, his back was ramrod straight as he stared fixedly at the surgery light, visibly tense.
Wei Gui clung to Chu Yin’s thigh, his tiny fingers gripping Chu Yin’s thumb tightly. Chu Yin looked down and mercilessly pulled his hand free. “Wei Gui, where’s your mom?”
“Mom’s talking to Dad. Dad said he wants to take Mom on a trip, but Mom said it’d be inconvenient with me around, so forget it.”
Chu Yin: “…”
Wei Gui added, “Pretty gege, can I stay at your place for a few days? Let my parents go have fun. I’ll be really good.”
Chu Yin thought for a moment. “Actually… is it because you don’t want to do your winter break homework?”
Wei Gui: “…”
