    Chapter Index

Chu Yin: “If you don’t do your winter vacation homework, you’ll turn into a little dummy.”

    Wei Gui: “QAQ!”

Wei Lai’s surgery was successful. During his hospitalization, Yan Xueni often brought Wei Gui to visit him, acting as attentive as a weasel with ulterior motives.

The worst part was that Wei Gui adored Chu Yin, constantly gushing about how “pretty gege this, pretty gege that,” clinging to Chu Yin’s leg like a soft, sticky rice cake, impossible to shake off.

For some reason, Chu Yin also felt inexplicably close to Wei Gui. The two could play with dumb toys together for hours.

As a stable, mature adult, Wei Lai shouldn’t have been jealous of a naive seven-year-old. Yet, every day, he acted like an automatic juicer, squeezing a pound of lemon juice from thin air and chugging it down until he was thoroughly sour.

This terrible situation peaked on the day Wei Lai was discharged from the hospital.

Wei Gangzheng ran off with his mistress.

Furious, Wei Lai called Yan Xueni, “Come take your son away!”

Yan Xueni replied apologetically, “Wei Lai, Wei Gui doesn’t eat much. Just keep him for a few days, okay~ Your dad and I haven’t gone on a trip in six or seven years. We’re itching to go!”

Wei Lai: “Did you plan this???”

Yan Xueni: “…Oh, and Chu Yin likes Wei Gui too!”

    Wei Lai: “…”

Yan Xueni added, “I’m not asking for much, just give him some food, as long as he doesn’t starve!”

Wei Lai: “…Is he even your real son???”

Wei Lai angrily made the call and angrily hung up, unable to comprehend Wei Gangzheng and Yan Xueni’s absurd behavior. He lowered his head and gloomily told Wei Gui, “Your mom and dad abandoned you.”

“Yay!!!” Wei Gui spread his arms, overjoyed and ecstatic.

    Wei Lai: “…”

Wei Gui naively thought Wei Lai and Chu Yin wouldn’t force him to do homework. But the very next day, the ruthless Madam Wei sent him off to tutoring classes.

    Wei Gui: “QAQ!”

In the morning, before heading to tutoring, Wei Gui batted his eyes and cooed at Chu Yin, “Pretty gege, can you pick me up early?”

Chu Yin, who wanted to watch cartoons with Wei Gui, nodded. “Okay.”

Wei Lai interjected, “I’ll pick you up.”

Wei Gui, resigned, “But… okay. Study god gege, pick me up early, please? I want to come back sooner to watch cartoons.”

Wei Lai stuffed a pile of homework into Wei Gui’s backpack. “Finish this before coming back.”

    Wei Gui: “QAQ!!!”

    Chu Yin: “Waaah!”

With a heart full of indignation, Wei Gui trudged to tutoring class, his backpack stuffed with homework like a bomb.

Chu Yin tilted his head, watching Wei Gui leave.

Wei Lai stomped on the gas and drove into a secluded path.

    Chu Yin: “Hm?”

Wei Lai: “Look at my head.”

    Chu Yin: —Stares.

After staring for a while, he couldn’t spot anything unusual—just that Wei Lai had lost weight. But judging by Wei Lai’s complicated expression, it definitely wasn’t about his weight.

Chu Yin blinked, confused. “What am I looking at?”

Wei Lai said: “…Doesn’t it look like a lemon spirit?”
