by starlightxelBlow-dry his hair??
“I-it’s okay, really!” Wen Chi held his cup and looked utterly stunned. “I can do it myself, I can do it myself.”
Jiang Siheng leaned against the bedside table with arms crossed. “I can feed you the cold medicine, or I can help you dry your hair. Pick one.”
“…There’s no third option?”
Jiang Siheng looked at him, thought for a moment, and replied, “There is.”
“What is it?” Wen Chi straightened up expectantly.
“I’ll dry your hair first, then feed you the medicine.”
Wen Chi: “?”
Main livestream chat:
[Hahahahaha Jiang Ge stop teasing the poor boy]
[Wen Chi: I choose death by embarrassment]
[If it were me, I’d pick option three too #doge#]
[I also want to sit on Jiang Ge’s lap!!!]
Jiang Siheng was clearly teasing. Seeing Wen Chi’s complex expression, he couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright, just finish your medicine.”
Wen Chi mumbled an “oh,” and sipped carefully from the cup, taking small mouthfuls—it was too hot to drink in one go.
Jiang Siheng stood beside him with the hairdryer. As he gently placed a hand on Wen Chi’s head, he felt the boy tense up.
“Nervous?” Jiang Siheng’s gentle voice drifted from above.
Wen Chi paused, then answered truthfully, “Yeah.”
“For what? Not used to people drying your hair?”
“Uh-huh, no one’s done it since middle school.”
“Huh. That’s funny. This is actually my first time drying someone’s hair.”
Wen Chi: “…!”
Main livestream chat:
[AAAAAAAA (screaming like a chicken)]
[He’s flirting! He’s definitely flirting!!!!]
[I’m writhing like a worm in my bed right now]
[Didn’t expect this from Jiang Ge. Damn, he’s good.]
[I love this so much, I’m dying]
[Watching two handsome guys fall in love is my favorite thing!]
What was he even supposed to say to that?! How was he supposed to respond!!!
Wen Chi, who had only joined this show to get paid and leave quietly, struggled for several seconds before blurting out, “A-a-awesome!”
Jiang Siheng: “…”
Livestream viewers: “…” The hell kind of response is “awesome”?
Jiang Siheng sighed helplessly. “Drink your medicine. Don’t talk.”
Wen Chi blinked. He’s naturally rebellious, the more you told him not to speak, the more he wanted to.
“Teacher Jiang, did you drink cold medicine too?”
“Want me to make you a cup later?”
“How many packets should adults take?”
“Honestly, I think this stuff tastes kind of gross.”
“Want a sip, Teacher Jiang?”
Wen Chi’s livestream chat:
[This boy is built to rebel]
[Tell him not to talk? He’ll talk twice as much]
[I get it now, he’s adorable! Does he have a fan group? I’m joining!]
[He does, come on in, sister!]
Wen Chi’s hair was short, so it dried quickly. Jiang Siheng patted his head. “Done with the medicine?”
Wen Chi looked at the half still full cup. Honestly, it was hard to drink because it was sour, slightly bitter, and oddly sweet.
“I’ll try my best,” he said.
Jiang Siheng ran a hand through his hair to check if it was completely dry. He unplugged the dryer.
Wen Chi gulped down the rest in one go and shivered. As he turned to show the empty cup, he accidentally noticed a large wet patch on Jiang Siheng’s left shoulder.
Jiang Siheng was texting Little Fatty when he caught Wen Chi’s gaze. “Hm?”
“Teacher Jiang, your shoulder’s soaked.”
Jiang Siheng glanced down at himself. “It’s fine. I’ll change later.”
“Maybe you should take a shower?”
With those clear eyes looking at him, Jiang Siheng found it hard to say no. A bit exasperated with himself, he gave in. “Alright, I’ll go in a bit.”
Wen Chi watched as Jiang Siheng picked up clean clothes and went into the bathroom before he relaxed and went downstairs in his slippers.
“Xiao Bai Jiemeans sister~~” Wen Chi called sweetly.
Zhou Yunbai, who was busy prepping dinner with Tong Xian’en and Tian Yang, turned around. “What is it~~”
Hearing someone speak in an even more syrupy voice than his own, Wen Chi froze for a second. “Do you have any more cold medicine?”
“Yeah, in the medicine box under the coffee table. Didn’t you just drink some? Was it so tasty you wanted seconds?” Zhou Yunbai joked.
Just the thought of the taste made Wen Chi break out in goosebumps. “No, no, once is enough. I’m bringing it for Teacher Jiang and Teacher Xiao Zou.”
“Teacher Xiao Zou?” Zhou Yunbai was confused. “Who’s that?”
“My follow-cam operator. He got caught in the rain too.”
“Take as much as you want then.”
Main livestream chat:
[Zhou Yunbai is so pretty!]
[Wife Xiao Bai, kiss kiss #kisskiss#]
[I thought Sheep and Tong Xian’en said they couldn’t cook?]
[Why does my boss keep disappearing? Don’t tell me he went back to the office…]
[Thanks to our little brother for taking care of Jiang Ge #flower toss#]
[He’s so kind he even remembered the cameraman got wet.]
Wen Chi brewed two cups of cold medicine, then he turned to Tian Yang. “Yang Ge, can I ask a favor?”
Banished from the kitchen by Zhou Yunbai, Tian Yang replied without hesitation, “Anything.”
“When Teacher Jiang comes down after his shower, can you tell him the medicine’s on the dining table?”
Tian Yang thought it was something major. “Pfft, that’s easy.”
Wen Chi grabbed an umbrella and the cup, then he headed outside. The production staff’s room was a temporary setup just behind the house. When the staffs saw a cast member show up, they were surprised.
Not knowing exactly where to go, Wen Chi stood outside with his umbrella and asked one of them, “Hi, do you know where Teacher Xiao Zou is?”
The staffer looked puzzled. “T-Teacher Xiao Zou…?” After a pause, realization dawned.
“Ohhh, you mean Big Zou. He’s here, I’ll call him out.”
Soon, Xiao Zou came out, changed into dry clothes. He was surprised to hear Wen Chi had asked for him. “Mr. Wen? Did you need something?”
Wen Chi handed over the cup. “I made you some cold medicine. You should drink it—it’s easy to catch a cold in this weather.”
Xiao Zou was flooredmeans shocked or overwhelmed. The tall, burly man looked about ready to cry from gratitude as he took the cup in both hands and thanked him repeatedly.
“No problem.” Wen Chi smiled and waited for him to finish before taking the empty cup and heading back.
Just a few steps away, he ran into Jiang Siheng.
“Teacher Jiang,” Wen Chi greeted, a little surprised.
“Heading back?” Jiang Siheng nodded politely at Xiao Zou, then turned his full attention to Wen Chi.
“Mm, just about to.”
“Okay.”
They each held an umbrella while walking back together. Xiao Zou stood still, smacking his lips at the lingering taste of the cold medicine and watching their retreating backs.
Not gonna lie… Jiang Siheng and Wen Chi actually looked kinda good together.
A few moments later, Sang Sang came running out with her phone. “Where’s Chi Ge? Didn’t he come here?”
Xiao Zou recognized her as Wen Chi’s assistant. He said while grinning, “He just left with Teacher Jiang.”
“Already?” Sang Sang had barely come out of the bathroom when she heard Wen Chi had stopped by. She hadn’t expected him to leave so fast.
“Yep. Were you looking for him?”
Sang Sang excitedly tried to shove her phone in Xiao Zou’s face, but the height difference was too ridiculous. Her excitement faltered slightly. “Bend down, bend down.”
Most guys naturally turned on their gentleman mode when talking to girls.
Even though Xiao Zou was confused, he still leaned in obediently. Sang Sang thrust the screen in front of him, saying, “Chi Ge is trending!! Ahhhhhh!!!”
Who knew how much she was holding back from screaming louder.
Xiao Zou blinked, then smiled. “Really? That’s great. Congrats to Chi Ge.”
Getting on the trending list was always good for celebrities—it meant more exposure and popularity, no matter the reason.
Wen Chi had been in the entertainment industry for years, but this was his first time trending. Sang Sang had seen it while on the toilet—she liked to browse Weibo during her breaks, and when she opened the hot search, there it was:
#Wen Chi Warm-hearted
Ranking: 16th
Xiao Zou watched her excited expression and thought back to how Wen Chi had braved the rain just to bring him medicine.
Such a good kid. Good things come to good people.
…
Wen Chi didn’t know yet that he was trending. He headed toward the kitchen, wanting to help with dinner, but Tong Xian’en stopped him.
“No need to cook tonight.”
“Why not?” Wen Chi was confused. They were already preparing dinner, weren’t they?
Zhou Yunbai who appeared, winked and said mysteriously, “You’ll find out soon.”
Just before dinner, Qin Xiyu returned after being gone the whole afternoon, carrying several plastic bags. As he passed by Tian Yang, the delicious aroma made Tian Yang’s stomach growl.
“Qin Ge, what did you bring back?” Tian Yang followed him like a puppy. Seeing Tong Xian’en coming downstairs, he looped an arm around his shoulder and dragged him along.
Tong Xian’en was baffled. “What are you doing?”
“We’re checking what Qin Ge brought to eat!”
Though exasperated, Tong Xian’en followed anyway.
The dishes Qin Xiyu brought back were still hot and looked amazing. Just the sight of them was enough to make mouths water.
Tian Yang picked up one of the boxes. He read the label and blurted, “Shiyinyuan?!”
“Wait what? We’re getting food from Shiyinyuan on this show?” Zhou Yunbai rushed out after hearing the name.
Wen Chi, watching the three of them lose their minds, looked confused.
Main livestream chat:
[Holy crap, it’s Shiyinyuan?!]
[Confused country bumpkin here. Is Shiyinyuan really that fancy? Why is everyone losing it?]
[To the one above, I haven’t been there either—because I can’t afford it. It’s the most luxurious and high-end restaurant in the country.]
[I heard you have to book half a month in advance just to get a table.]
[Average spend is in the four digits per person.]
[So… are the dishes made with gold or something??]
Seeing that Wen Chi didn’t know, Tian Yang quietly explained, and Wen Chi’s eyes widened.
Jiang Siheng turned around and saw Wen Chi staring at the food with a solemn expression. He walked over and asked, “What’s wrong?”
Wen Chi’s face was serious. “Should I bathe in incense and purify myself before eating this?”
Jiang Siheng didn’t really get what the kid was talking about, but he found it unbearably cute. Glancing at the clear plastic containers on the table, he coaxed gently, “Next time I’ll take you to eat at Shiyinyuan. Freshly made food tastes even better than takeout.”
…
Just then, Qin Xiyu walked past with an indifferent look and cast a glance at Jiang Siheng.
Yeah? Big talk. Let’s see you skip dinner now.
