ASFSODS 64
by starlightxelWen Chi had just completed another task, and when he got a token that didn’t belong to his team for the third time, he slumped down onto a nearby bench.
The livestream chat was hysterical, with fans flooding in with suggestions: “Teacher Wen, maybe you should stop doing tasks and start a business selling tokens—cash in one hand, token in the other!”
Zhou Yunbai called just then, her tone especially cheerful. “Xiao Chi, I’ve already got three tokens! Two are ours, and one is yours. Where are you now? Let’s meet up first.”
Wen Chi, who also had three tokens but none for his own team. “…Okay, sure.”
Wen Chi’s livestream chat:
[I’m dying of laughter]
[You guys suggesting he go into business are too clever]
[Just came back from Xiao Bai’s stream, all I can say is, her lucky girl image in the entertainment industry is no joke]
[Chi Ge, go bask in her good luck]
[Let’s go!]
Following the location Zhou Yunbai sent him, Wen Chi found her sitting under a sun umbrella, sipping fruit juice leisurely. When she saw him, she straightened up slightly and waved, “Over here!”
Wen Chi walked over and sat down across from her. Zhou Yunbai pushed another cup of juice toward him. The ice clinked against the sides of the cup, and her slender fingers held the transparent bubble tea cup, the pale skin of her hand creating a striking contrast with the bright red juice.
“What’s wrong?” Zhou Yunbai noticed Wen Chi sighing and asked, half-concerned, half-gossipy.
Wen Chi laid all the tokens he had collected on the table. “My luck is awful.”
Zhou Yunbai picked them up to take a look—two were from Tong Xian’en, and one was from Zhou Ruoyao. She immediately got it and laughed, “It’s okay, it’s okay. As long as I get ours, we’re good.”
Wen Chi took a sip of the iced watermelon juice. The cool, refreshing drink seemed to soothe his hot and irritable mood in an instant. “So how many of our tokens do we have now?”
Zhou Yunbai set the others aside and pulled out the ones from their own team. “I have three right now, you have two.”
Wen Chi nodded.
Zhou Yunbai said, “The show crew just posted a map in the group. Apparently, they forgot to send it when announcing the rules. I looked at it and it shows all the task locations on the island. The ones circled in blue are already completed.”
Wen Chi hadn’t paid much attention to his phone earlier. “Let me take a look.”
Zhou Yunbai added, “Out of thirty task locations, thirteen are done. Seventeen left. And I ran into Xian’en’s group on the way here.”
Wen Chi’s eyes paused for a moment. He looked up at her. “They didn’t try to steal your tokens, did they?”
“No,” Zhou Yunbai thought back for a moment. “They were just like us, splitting up to cover more ground.”
“Good.”
As they chatted, the production team sent another updated map. Three more task locations were circled. Fourteen tasks remained.
“We need to move fast. If we find the Mystery Person, we might not need to waste more time looking for tokens,” Zhou Yunbai said.
Wen Chi, hearing that, suddenly remembered that the game had a side mission to identify the Mystery Person. “If you hadn’t brought it up, I would’ve totally forgotten.”
Zhou Yunbai shook her head, half laughing, half exasperated.
Wen Chi looked again at the clue image for the Mystery Person. No matter how many times he looked, it was still just a simple drawing of a bitten peach.
A peach…
Tao…
Wen Chi stared at that peach for a few seconds. Then he dug through his memory, trying to find something he’d overlooked. “Xiao Bai Jie, can I ask you something?”
Zhou Yunbai took a sip of juice and glanced at him. “What is it?”
“Was there ever a guest in the first episode of this show with the surname Yao?”
“Yao?” Zhou Yunbai blinked, then suddenly realized. “Yeah, there was! I remember her name was… Yao Yiling!”
Zhou Yunbai’s livestream chat:
[Wait a minute!!! Guys, I think I know who the Mystery Person is!]
[Holy crap, I think I do too?!]
[Huh??]
[The Mystery Person is Yao Yiling, ahhh! Holy crap, her fans sometimes call her Little Peach, and Xiaobai’s clue also showed up during “Sea Moon”!]
[Ugh, this word limit is killing me. Xiao Bai’s clue showed “Sea Moon”, there was an event where Yao Yiling performed a dance, and the background was the moon over the sea.]
[Whoa, the production team is amazing, they actually brought back guests from season one.]
[Thinking outside the box here, what if the other Mystery Person is Chen Peizhi?]
[Aaaaaah the TaoZhi CP was my all-time favorite reality show couple!!!]
Yao Yiling…
A bitten peach…
Appeared over the Sea Moon…?!
“I knew it! The Mystery Person is definitely Yao Yiling!” Zhou Yunbai sat down beside Wen Chi, excitement written all over her face. “I remember she performed a traditional dance at some gala once, and the background was the moon over the sea—it matches my clue perfectly!”
Wen Chi had still been unsure, but after hearing that, even if it wasn’t a 100% match, he was at least 70-80% certain now.
So, that meant… their clues were meant to be combined.
“But… how do we find her?” Zhou Yunbai asked.
Good question. They now knew who the Mystery Person was but not where she was. Wen Chi rested his chin on his hand, and his gaze unintentionally landed on a staff member in a teddy bear costume promoting some event at the milk tea shop.
The bear locked eyes with Wen Chi unexpectedly, its oversized body giving a little jolt. It quickly looked away, pretending not to notice but the movement was panicked and awkward.
Wen Chi: Hm???
Zhou Yunbai noticed Wen Chi staring at something and asked curiously, “Xiao Chi, what are you looking at?”
“Let me confirm something.”
“Huh?”
Under Zhou Yunbai’s puzzled gaze, Wen Chi walked over to the bear. The moment the bear saw him approaching, it instinctively took a step back then realized that it looked even more suspicious and froze, lifting its little paw for a stiff wave.
Wen Chi stopped in front of the bear. He studied it for a second but couldn’t tell anything just by looking. Then he asked, “Are you the production team’s ‘Mystery Person’?”
The person inside the costume panicked, then quickly remembered that he couldn’t see their expression anyway, so they simply shook their head.
“Oh, I just saw some of the cameramen filming you, so I figured you might be the ‘Mystery Person.’” Wen Chi smiled. “If not, no worries.”
The bear fought the urge to turn around and check if there really were cameras. It folded its little paws in front of itself and nodded.
Zhou Yunbai walked over. “Xiao Chi, what are you doing?”
“Nothing, I guess I was overthinking.” Wen Chi spoke to Zhou Yunbai, but his eyes casually flicked back to the bear. The bear, thinking they were no longer paying attention, pretended to be curious about its surroundings and started looking around.
“Overthinking what?”
Wen Chi took one step closer to the bear, then gently patted its shoulder and in a flash, pulled off the bear’s headgear.
A fresh and pretty face was instantly revealed to the camera.
Yao Yiling hadn’t the slightest clue what had just happened. Wait, hadn’t he just said he was overthinking it? Why did he suddenly snatch off her mascot head?
Zhou Yunbai’s eyes widened in shock. “Oh my god.”
Wen Chi saw that it really was Yao Yiling inside and let out a breath of relief. Thank goodness he guessed right.
Yao Yiling, half amused and half helpless, tidied her slightly messy hair and gave a sheepish smile. “I thought I was hiding pretty well, since Ms. Zhou was sitting right there for so long and didn’t notice me.”
Zhou Yunbai snapped back to reality and waved dismissively. “Just call me Xiao Bai, no need for ‘Ms. Zhou’!” She handed her a tissue.
Yao Yiling thanked her, then turned to Wen Chi and asked curiously, “How did you know it was me in there?”
Standing under the hot sun was exhausting, so after taking off the costume, Yao Yiling finally let out a relieved sigh. “Thank god I’m out of that thing, I was about to melt.”
The three of them returned to sit under the sun umbrella. Wen Chi took a sip of watermelon juice before saying, “I didn’t notice at first, but then I realized you looked over at us several times.”
Yao Yiling propped her chin in her hand, looking at Wen Chi with interest. “It’s also possible the staff saw you filming the show and got curious, glancing over a few times?”
“That’s also a possibility,” Wen Chi scratched his nose a little embarrassedly. “So I went over to confirm. When I walked over, I noticed a camera under the milk tea shop’s eaves, and I mentioned there were a few cameramen filming you. Then, I saw you couldn’t help but sneak glances while I was chatting with Xiao Bai Jie.”
Yao Yiling sighed. “You’re really clever.”
Wen Chi grinned. “Not really. I didn’t know who the ‘Mystery Person’ inside was at first. But then I thought, since it’s a ‘Mystery Person,’ it doesn’t matter who it is.”
“Alright then.” Yao Yiling reached into the back pocket of her pants and pulled out a brocade pouch, handing it to Wen Chi. “This is for you.”
Wen Chi quickly raised his hands and gestured to Zhou Yunbai. “Xiao Bai Jiie, you do it. You do it.”
Yao Yiling blinked, confused as to why Wen Chi wouldn’t take it himself. “What’s wrong? I didn’t fart.”
Wen Chi: “…”
Wen Chi’s livestream chat:
[Ahhhh it’s really Yao Yiling!!]
[Chi Ge is amazing, so impressive!!]
[Wait, Yao Yiling was a guest in season one, right? Her CP was Chen Peizhi.]
[Yes, I shipped TaoZhi CP back then!]
[Lol, Chi Ge knows he’s unlucky, so he made Xiao Bai open it. He’s hilarious.]
[Help, hahahaha, is Yao Yiling really this funny? She just said she didn’t fart on the show.]
[She’s so funny, even though I’m not a fan, I had a good impression of her in season one.]
“It’s not that reason…” Wen Chi said, feeling a bit embarrassed. “I just… I’m a little unlucky.”
Yao Yiling instinctively looked at his hands. “These are actually nice hands.”
Wen Chi: “When I said ‘unlucky hands,’ I didn’t mean my hands were dirty, I meant my luck is a bit bad.”
“Oh, I see. Well, I don’t know what’s inside either.”
Since that’s the case…
Yao Yiling turned the pouch around and handed it to Zhou Yunbai. “Then it’s for you.”
“Thanks~” Zhou Yunbai immediately opened it, and Wen Chi leaned in to look.
Inside the pouch were two cards: one was a guest token with Wen Chi’s name on it, and the other was a plain white card with bold black text.
【Wish Card: By making a wish, you can obtain a custom token card.】
【Wish Uses: 0/1】
Wen Chi’s livestream chat:
[Wow, Xiao Bai Jie is amazing!!!]
[Wait, this isn’t scripted, right?]
[Looking at Yao Yiling’s reaction, it seems like there’s no script…?]
[First time I’m glad Wen Chi didn’t open the pouch.]
[It doesn’t matter who opens the pouch. The card inside is fixed, it wouldn’t change if Wen Chi opened it.]
[They’re just joking, stop being so serious about it.]
[Oh, but this really isn’t funny #smile#]
Zhou Yunbai looked at the two cards and looked at Wen Chi in surprise. “Great! This means we just need four more to complete the task.”
Yao Yiling smiled slyly. “If you use the Wish Card, then you’ll just need three more.”
Zhou Yunbai: “Good point. But we’ll decide whether to use the Wish Card later, no rush.”
Wen Chi looked at the Wish Card in front of him. “Hm?”
“You should take this card, since you found the ‘Mystery Person.’” Zhou Yunbai said.
Yao Yiling watched Wen Chi, thinking she should definitely have to go back and see how she was discovered when the full episode aired.
Yao Yiling adjusted her clothes. “Let’s take a picture. I need to send it to the production team.”
“Sure.”
…
The game task lasted for over four hours, from dawn to dusk. Wen Chi and Zhou Yunbai still hadn’t gotten the last token for Zhou Yunbai, and they guessed it might have been taken and hidden by someone else. Not knowing if the other Mystery Person also had a Wish Card, and to avoid being beaten to it, Wen Chi’s team decided to use their Wish Card to get Zhou Yunbai’s token.
Ding-ding All the guests’ phones rang at once. The production team announced in the group chat that the game task was over, and Wen Chi and Zhou Yunbai earned points.
“Holy crap, it’s finally over.” Zhou Ruoyao slumped over the table, weakly putting down his phone.
Tian Yang, sitting next to him, propped his head up and thought for a moment before asking Zhou Ruoyao, “Why is it that every time we play a game, we give up halfway?”
Zhou Ruoyao glanced at him. “It’s because I’m influenced by bad company.”
It took Tian Yang a few seconds to react, then he chuckled. “So you’re saying I’ve led you astray?”
Zhou Ruoyao turned his head the other way and closed his eyes to rest.
Tian Yang: “…” Fine, you’re from a rich family, I won’t argue with you.
Main livestream:
[Honestly, you two should reflect on yourselves.]
[You really should.]
[Hooray! Congrats to Chi Ge and Xiao Bai Jie for winning!]
[What’s going on between Tong Xian’en and Xu Yuqing? Seriously, they’re playing the team task like it’s a solo game.]
[I counted, they’ve spoken less than ten times today. Isn’t that ridiculous?]
[I can’t ship this anymore…]
In the third episode, the production team invited back the TaoZhi CP from season one, Chen Peizhi and Yao Yiling, who became a real couple.
Before dinner, everyone went back to change into new clothes and then came downstairs. The table was already set with food, and the smell was mouthwatering.
Zhou Ruoyao and Yao Yiling knew each other, having met at a charity event before. Xu Yuqing, Chen Peizhi, and Yao Yiling seemed quite familiar with each other, and as soon as they met, they were chatting and laughing.
Xu Yuqing looked at Chen Peizhi and Yao Yiling with a smile in his eyes. “I really didn’t expect you two to come back, the fans must be going crazy.”
Chen Peizhi, a handsome guy with a tan complexion, laughed. “In the fans’ words, A Ling and I have come back ‘home.’”
Xu Yuqing smiled. “It really does feel that way.”
Tong Xian’en, who was sitting next to Xu Yuqing, had a cold expression, silently eating his meal.
Wen Chi, who was sitting across from him, noticed but didn’t say anything. However, later that night when everyone returned to their rooms to rest, Wen Chi finished his shower and was about to video call his boyfriend when he heard a few knocks on the door.
Wen Chi was a bit puzzled. He slipped on his slippers and walked to the door. When he opened it, he was surprised to see Tong Xian’en standing outside his room. “What’s up? Do you need something?”
“Mm.” Tong Xian’en saw that Wen Chi had already taken off his microphone and asked, “Is it okay if I come in?”
Wen Chi hesitated for a moment, but then stepped aside to let Tong Xian’en in.
As the door closed, Tong Xian’en looked at the boy in a white cotton sleepwear, his demeanor gentle, and a complex expression flashed in his eyes.
Wen Chi was exhausted after hours of walking and running around. He pulled a chair over and sat down, looking at Tong Xian’en. “You need something from me?”
“Mm.” Tong Xian’en slightly lowered his gaze, his voice cold and detached. “I came to remind you to be careful of Xu Yuqing.”
