Since it was already late and neither Su Shijin nor Gu Weiyang had eaten dinner, they didn’t bother making a fuss and simply found a nearby restaurant to settle their meal.

After dinner, the two went home to grab their luggage, then drove to Grandpa Su’s house.

By the time they arrived at Grandpa Su’s house, it was already past midnight. Su Shijin had a house key, so after parking the car at the gate, he didn’t wake anyone else and led Gu Weiyang straight to the small courtyard where he usually stayed.

His bedroom still only had one bed, and the wardrobe didn’t hold any spare quilts to make a bed on the floor.

Gu Weiyang stood at the doorway, tightening his grip on the handle of his suitcase. After a moment’s hesitation, he said, “I’ll sleep on the sofa later.”

“Sofa?” Su Shijin turned his head and saw Gu Weiyang standing at the door with his eyes lowered, faintly guessing what he was worrying about.

He knew full well that Gu Weiyang liked him, and now, if the two of them were to share the same bed, it would indeed be a little awkward.

Seeing Gu Weiyang, tall as he was, standing there with his eyes downcast, looking pitiful like a golden retriever dragging its tail, Su Shijin couldn’t quite bring himself to refuse.

He couldn’t bring himself to, once again.

Su Shijin felt that the amount of pity he had for Gu Weiyang was starting to get a little excessive.

“The sofa’s too small for you. Just sleep on the bed,” Su Shijin finally decided, not letting him take the sofa.

Seeing that Gu Weiyang still wanted to say something, Su Shijin cut him off with a raised hand and asked, “Or do you mean I should sleep on the sofa?”

Gu Weiyang immediately shut his mouth obediently, carried his suitcase into the room, and placed it beside Su Shijin’s, showing with his actions that he intended to share the bed.

After the two of them each took a shower, they both carried the same lingering scent of peaches as they climbed into bed, one after the other.

As usual, Su Shijin slept on the inside. To be safe, Gu Weiyang put on his suppressant bracelet before lying down, and after confirming Su Shijin had no objections, he reached out and turned off the light.

When sight is taken away, a human’s other senses seem to magnify without limit.

Lying at the edge of Su Shijin’s bed, Gu Weiyang breathed in the scent of the body wash they both used, a faint itch rising in his throat.

The soft dip of the mattress as Su Shijin turned over and the sound of his breathing, when they reached Gu Weiyang’s ears, they became an indescribable kind of temptation.

Of course, Su Shijin had no intention of tempting him.

It was only Gu Weiyang who couldn’t stay composed, with his thoughts running wild and heartbeat pounding so hard it almost rang in his ears.

Thankfully, he had the foresight to calm down Gu Xiaoren in advance back in the shower. Taking a few steady breaths now, he managed to bring himself back under control.

After a few minutes, Gu Weiyang heard the sound of Su Shijin’s steady breathing. He didn’t seem the least bit nervous about sharing a bed with him and, as the night deepened, had drifted off to sleep naturally.

Only then did Gu Weiyang quietly shift his body, turning onto his side to face Su Shijin, wanting to use the faint moonlight seeping through the curtains to secretly catch a glimpse of his sleeping face.

Then Gu Weiyang saw a fuzzy little head from behind.

Su Shijin was sleeping with his back to him.

Gu Weiyang almost laughed in exasperation. He stared at Dr. Su’s head for a while, then sighed lightly. Even his nape looked so good.

As for when Gu Weiyang fell asleep, he had no clear memory of it.

A little after seven in the morning, the two of them were woken by the sudden ringing of a phone.

Since Gu Weiyang had gone to sleep so late, it took him quite a while to struggle awake, finally opening his eyes with a frown to look at the phone cheerfully buzzing and singing on the nightstand.

    “Sorry, it’s my phone.”

Before Gu Weiyang could react, the one sleeping on the inside had already sat up, reaching over his body to grab the phone.

Because of that bending motion, Gu Weiyang caught a glimpse through the loose collar. An expanse of pale skin and the fleeting curve of two faint pinks.

Gu Weiyang quickly raised a hand to cover his mouth and nose, terrified that he might actually get a nosebleed.

Su Shijin squinted slightly as the light from the phone screen hurt his eyes, finally seeing out that it was a call from his grandfather.

Gu Weiyang tilted his head and saw Su Shijin leaning against the headboard, half-closing his eyes as he answered the call. Having just woken up, his voice carried a faint hoarseness beneath its usual cool tone. “Hello, Grandpa, yeah, I’m back. I didn’t disturb your rest last night since I got back so late. Mm, alright, I’ll ask…”

Su Shijin answered his grandfather in fragments, then finally turned his head toward Gu Weiyang. “Do you want to get up for breakfast?”

Gu Weiyang lowered his voice and asked, “Are you eating?”

Su Shijin shook his head, wanting to sleep a bit longer.

Gu Weiyang smiled softly. “Then sleep a little more. I’m tired too.”

Su Shijin told his grandfather that they wouldn’t be having breakfast and would sleep for another couple of hours before getting up.

After hanging up the phone, Su Shijin placed his phone on the pillow beside him, crawled back into the blankets, curling up so much that his face was almost buried in the covers. Facing Gu Weiyang’s direction, he asked, “Mr. Gu, is it okay if we sleep until after nine?”

Gu Weiyang naturally had no objections, so Su Shijin closed his eyes and quickly drifted back to sleep.

Gu Weiyang watched Su Shijin’s peaceful sleeping face for a while, then couldn’t help but reach out and tuck a stray lock of hair that was nearly poking his eye.

How could Su Shijin be so good-looking?

Gu Weiyang really wanted to hold him tightly, to pull him close and bury him in his arms, trying to fill the emptiness that had lingered in his heart for all these years.

But unfortunately, now was not the time.

Even though they were lying in the same bed, Gu Weiyang could only stay honestly on his own side, watching him from a distance.

If there were truly a place in the world where prayers for love were always answered, Gu Weiyang would trade everything he had right now for it.

Please, just like me a little bit.

Gu Weiyang thought, I promise I’ll treat you so, so, so well.

    Time passed quickly.

When the alarm rang at nine, Su Shijin felt as though he had only just closed his eyes before being woken again. He lay there with his eyes shut, struggling for a while, before finally mustering the energy to sit up.

    “Morning, Mr. Gu.”

Half-squinting, Su Shijin caught sight of Gu Weiyang standing at the bedside.

“Morning.” Having caught up on a little more sleep, Gu Weiyang was in fairly good spirits. He took out the clothes they would wear today from his suitcase and set them on the bed. “Get dressed first. I’ll go wash up.”

“Mm, okay.” Su Shijin replied a beat late, and only after Gu Weiyang’s figure disappeared through the doorway, closing the door considerately behind him, did he rub his eyes, climb out of bed, and change his clothes.

Since they were attending a wedding banquet at noon, and would be appearing as a married couple, the outfits they had prepared today were matching in style.

Su Shijin wore a white casual shirt, with understated gold-embroidered edging along the collar and cuffs, paired with light-colored dress pants.

Gu Weiyang’s shirt was the same as Su Shijin’s, except the gold embroidery was replaced with black embroidery, and he wore black dress pants.

When Gu Weiyang finished washing up, returned to his room, and changed into his clothes, standing next to Su Shijin, the two of them standing together exuded an A-to-O kind of vibe, looking like a perfect couple.

Even Grandpa, who had been waiting half the morning for them, couldn’t help letting out an “oh-ho” when he saw them.

    “A couple’s outfit?”

Clicking his tongue knowingly, Grandpa Su sighed, “So you two are already this sweet together, huh.”

Gu Weiyang raised his brows slightly, suppressing the burst of joy in his chest. Glancing at the clothes he and Su Shijin were wearing, he asked Grandpa Su, “Do we really look that sweet?”

Before Grandpa could even answer, Gu Weiyang nodded to himself and admitted, “We are indeed very sweet.”

    Grandpa Su: …
