Alice cried while asking the teacher to take her to the hospital.

But the little girl might be too young, as she kept holding onto her deskmate’s hand, unwilling to let go. It was as if her deskmate was her emotional support and she couldn’t do without her.

The teacher finally had no choice. In order not to waste time, he could only agree to let the deskmate go along as well.

The two children originally intended to be sent to the school doctor, but Alice was showing too much pain and couldn’t wait any longer. The Imperial Center Hospital was not far from the school, so the teacher briefly thought about it and then, without hesitation, sent the children there.

When they got in the airship, the school staff member was in the front, and the two children sat in the back.

Until they could no longer be seen.

Alice’s palms were sweating with nervousness, and she nervously held onto Li Suisui’s little hand, opening her mouth, “Suisui…”

Li Suisui calmly sat beside her, watching her. “What’s wrong?”

Alice’s heart was pounding like a drum. This was her first time doing something like this. She asked, “I–I, will we get caught like this? Will the teacher punish us?”

    Li Suisui spoke up, “No.”

Alice let out a sigh of relief.

    Little did she know—

Li Suisui’s voice was slow and soft, “It’s Alice who will get caught because of her stomach pain. Why would you punish Suisui?”

    Alice: “…”

She looked at Li Suisui, and her eyes reddened again.

Li Suisui sat in the airship. Seeing that she was about to start crying again, the little girl propped her chin and sighed. Alice was really loud.

The sound of sobbing started again beside her.

Li Suisui turned her face to the side for some peace and quiet. With her delicate little face cupped, she asked, “Which ward is Alice’s mother in?”

The trick to diverting attention still worked.

Alice shook her head. “I–I don’t know.”

Li Suisui’s originally kind little face instantly changed. Her delicate and pale face looked at Alice, puffed up with anger. Even her small brows furrowed as she glared at Alice.

Alice was startled for a moment and quickly said, “B–but Alice can sense!”

    “…”

    At least you explained quickly.

The airship quickly arrived at the place.

The staff members were anxious. After all, the children from this school either came from wealthy or noble families. If anything happened, they could never afford to offend them.

The teacher quickly ran over and said, “We’ve arrived, hurry up and take a look.”

Alice and Li Suisui got out of the vehicle one after another, closely following each other.

The Imperial Hospital was very large with a fountain in the center of the main entrance spraying water outward. The tall buildings seemed to reach straight into the sky. Unlike the old and dilapidated clinic in the Underground City, this place was magnificent, almost like a palace—new and beautiful.

The teacher took the two children to the emergency room.

The doctor on duty looked at the two children with some surprise.

The teacher explained, “Could you please help check on the child, she suddenly has stomach pain.”

After understanding the situation, the doctor waved at the child and said, “Is that so? Come over and let me take a look.”

Alice was a little nervous. She had lied and it wasn’t really stomach pain at all. When the doctor called her, she subconsciously nervously pinched the corner of her clothes, not daring to go over.

The teacher just thought the child was scared, and quickly walked over, asking gently, “Alice, didn’t you say your stomach hurts? Come over quickly, the doctor will help check your body.”

Alice pressed her lips together. The pretty little angel had a face full of hesitation.

Yet she still walked up reluctantly.

The doctor was a very kind-looking person, and after checking back and forth, he said somewhat puzzled, “It seems like there’s no problem.”

The teacher asked, somewhat confused, “No problem?!”

The doctor nodded. “Yes, this child’s body seems fine…”

His gaze hesitated a bit, landing on the blue-haired doll, and his doubtful attitude was quite obvious.

The doctor asked, “Little one, does your stomach really hurt?”

Alice felt inexplicably nervous being looked at like this and the little girl’s eyes began to well up with tears. A child who had never lied before couldn’t find the words in this situation.

The doctor glanced at the teacher.

    However—

The teacher confidently said, “No, Alice is a model student, a role model for the whole kindergarten. She would never lie.”

    Alice’s tears instantly spilled over.

    Waaaah.

    She was a bad child.

The doctor said, somewhat puzzled, “That shouldn’t be the case, her body doesn’t seem to have any major issues.”

    Everyone looked at each other.

Just as the doctor was about to speak to take Alice back to the school—

Li Suisui, who had been sitting leisurely on the chair beside, finally spoke up. Her two little ponytails tied at the back of her head and her voice crisp and clear, “Alice, do you need to go to the bathroom?”

    Everyone was stunned.

The teacher and doctor exchanged a glance.

Alice also looked at Li Suisui, never expecting that Suisui would say something like this.

The teacher seemed to have figured it out, and immediately asked, “Alice, do you need to go to the bathroom?”

Alice nervously pinched her little skirt. “I… Alice…”

The doctor pushed his glasses up and said, “It’s very likely. Otherwise, just take her to the bathroom and check.”

    The teacher immediately nodded.

As Alice turned around, her gaze immediately fell on Li Suisui beside her. The little angel had clearly already completely regarded Li Suisui as her emotional support. “Suisui…”

    Li Suisui calmly looked over.

Alice was about to start crying again. “Can you come with me?”

Li Suisui showed no sympathy and was just about to shake her head.

Yet the teacher said, “Okay, Suisui will go with Alice. I’ll wait outside for you two.”

    “…”

The two children walked together to the bathroom.

Alice hesitated and said, “Suisui, what should I do if I don’t want to go to the bathroom?”

Li Suisui gave Alice a look that clearly said, ‘you’re really silly,’ and said, “Take this opportunity to quickly go find your mom.”

Alice’s eyes widened, completely stunned by Suisui’s cleverness.

Li Suisui then urged her, “Hurry up, don’t waste time.”

Alice said quietly, a little touched, “Thank you, Suisui, you’re still thinking of me. I… I misunderstood you before.”

“No,” Li Suisui, with no emotion, quickly and straightforwardly said, “If we don’t hurry, school will be over soon. Suisui still has to rush home to eat.”

    “…”

You really are hard to deal with.

The teacher was waiting at the other end of the hallway, not far away.

Alice stood at the corner of the bathroom and sensed for a moment. Her angelic powers were strong, and she quickly sensed the direction of her mother. She pointed and said, “That way.”

Li Suisui didn’t have time to react before Alice pulled her and started running.

In the bustling hospital, the two children navigated through the unfamiliar hallways.

One flight of stairs after another. Climbing was a bit tiring, but it still didn’t stop them from moving forward.

    Finally—

With Alice leading while panting, they arrived at one of the floors on the fourth level.

Whether it was the stairs or the room entrances, there were layers upon layers of guards standing watch. They had almost sealed off the entire floor, leaving no gaps—not even a drop of water could get through.

    Alice stopped in surprise.

A guard heard the movement and turned his head. “Who’s there?”

Alice was frozen in place, scared.

Seeing the guard’s head turning towards them, they were about to be exposed—

A pair of small hands reached out, pulling the stunned Alice to the other side. The guard’s gaze fell on the empty hallway. He glanced around and then walked back.

    On the other side—

The second floor of the hospital.

Jian Chengxi received the teacher’s call and quickly rushed over.

He still had sweat on his forehead. He was panting as he said to the teacher, “Hello, teacher, you mentioned in the communication that my child is missing?”

The teacher anxiously said, “Yes, that’s right. They originally said they were going to the bathroom, but I waited for quite a while and didn’t see the children come out. When I asked someone to go in and look for them, that’s when we discovered the children were missing.”

Jian Chengxi exclaimed in shock, “How could this happen!”

The teacher was also somewhat frustrated.

Jian Chengxi was extremely anxious and immediately said, “We need to hurry and search for them.”

The teacher said, “You don’t need to search, I’ve already searched this entire floor. It was only after not finding the children that I contacted you…”

    His words had just finished.

From not far away, a clear and high-pitched little girl’s voice was heard, “Daddy!”

Jian Chengxi’s gaze fell on the distance, and Li Suisui’s small figure was running toward him.

Jian Chengxi sighed in relief the moment he saw the child’s figure. He quickly stepped forward to catch the child and asked, “Suisui, where did you run off to?”

Li Suisui threw herself into Jian Chengxi’s arms.

The teacher stood by, stunned. He clearly had just searched everywhere and couldn’t find them.

The teacher quickly came over and asked, “Suisui, where’s Alice?”

    Li Suisui pointed behind her.

The little girl in a white long dress walked over in a somewhat dazed manner.

The teacher quickly walked over, and after confirming the child was fine, he sighed in relief. Then, looking at the two children, he asked, “Where did you two go just now?”

He made up his mind to properly educate the two children.

    However—

Li Suisui spoke up, “Alice said she didn’t like this bathroom. She felt upset here, so I took her to another one.”

    The teacher: “…”

    What a reasonable excuse.

    What nonsense!

Fortunately, everything turned out fine in the end. After the teacher and Alice had left, Jian Chengxi stood at the hospital entrance, looking down at his daughter.

Li Suisui lifted her head and looked at him.

    Their eyes met—

Jian Chengxi’s expression was somewhat serious, and he quietly said, “What exactly is going on?”

    Li Suisui froze.

Jian Chengxi looked at his daughter’s expression and knew that the situation was definitely not as simple as Suisui said, just changing a bathroom.

Yet he didn’t panic, nor did he blame the child indiscriminately.

Jian Chengxi crouched down to look at her. He even reached out to gather her messy hair at the temples, helping to tie it neatly at the back of her head. “Is there something you can’t tell Daddy?”

Li Suisui paused, she pressed her lips together, unsure of how to speak.

Jian Chengxi’s gaze calmly rested on her. “You can’t tell the teacher, and you can’t tell Daddy either?”

What pained him the most was that other three-year-old children, when something happened or they were upset, their first reaction was to turn to their parents for support.

Yet his child was not like that.

Suisui and Xiao Chen lacked a sense of security, and they’ve had it for as long as he could remember.

He had always wanted to change, but he didn’t know where to start changing such things.

Jian Chengxi sighed inwardly, held the child’s arm, and said to her, “Daddy knows you’re not a bad child. Even if you lied to the teacher, there must be a reason, right?”

Li Suisui stood in front of Jian Chengxi. The little girl hesitantly spoke, “Daddy isn’t angry with Suisui?”

Jian Chengxi said, “I am angry.”

Li Suisui froze, and couldn’t help feeling a little nervous.

But Jian Chengxi said, “Daddy isn’t angry with you, he’s angry with himself.”

Li Suisui looked at him with confusion.

The little girl was actually very smart, but she was only a three-year-old child.

“Because Suisui didn’t tell Daddy when she faced something difficult, Daddy feels sad.” Jian Chengxi half-squatted in front of the child, the setting sun’s afterglow stretching the shadows of the two of them. “Although Suisui is very capable of protecting herself, Daddy also wants to protect Suisui.”

Li Suisui looked at her father with her big, watery eyes, and quietly asked, “If Suisui does something bad, will Daddy still protect Suisui?”

“Of course,” Jian Chengxi said, “Suisui is not alonez She is Daddy’s daughter, and Daddy will definitely protect Suisui.”

    After a pause.

He added, “And what counts as a bad thing or a good thing, what others say doesn’t count. Daddy doesn’t listen to them, he only listens to you.”

It was like a locked room.

    But it wasn’t forcefully dismantled.

The person entering gently knocked on the door, asking if they could come in.

Li Suisui’s long eyelashes fluttered, and the little girl’s innocent face was tinged with a faint smile. She held her father’s hand and said, “Suisui just helped Alice lie to the teacher to bring her to the hospital to find her Mom.”

Jian Chengxi was momentarily stunned. “Can’t Alice come by herself?”

Li Suisui shook her head and said, “Her family won’t let her come.”

Jian Chengxi didn’t expect there to be another layer to this. It seemed that that person, Byrne, really wasn’t planning to act like a human anymore.

Li Suisui originally thought that her father might blame her.

However, Jian Chengxi looked at his daughter, and finally gave a helpless smile before saying, “How did you come up with this method? The teacher actually believed it.”

He was somewhat surprised, because according to the plot, the protagonist and the antagonist should be at odds with each other. How could it possibly develop into a storyline where the two children help each other?

Moreover, his own daughter had always disliked Alice.

Jian Chengxi had been worrying about this matter endlessly, always concerned about his child’s future.

    Yet now it’s different.

Isn’t this a good opportunity to ease the relationship between the protagonist and the antagonist?

Li Suisui raised her little face and said with a babyish voice, “Because Alice is a good child, she’s always believed when she speaks, unlike Suisui.”

“Nonsense,” Jian Chengxi interrupted her and looked into his daughter’s eyes, saying, “Daddy believes what Suisui says too.”

The warm big hand held the somewhat cold little hand.

The afterglow of the setting sun fell on the two of them. Li Suisui walked with him towards the big door, her voice soft, “Alice said that lying is bad, only bad children lie.”

Jian Chengxi held the child’s hand and said, “Lying is wrong, but wanting to see your mother isn’t wrong.”

Li Suisui spoke up, “Does that mean Suisui is a bad child?”

“No, Suisui is a little hero who helps others,” Jian Chengxi’s voice was gentle as he continued, “A good child who doesn’t ask for anything in return.”

Li Suisui immediately said, “So this is what a good child is like?”

Jian Chengxi really wanted to encourage his child to be kind. He immediately nodded and said, “Yes, that’s right. Suisui, do you like being this way?”

Li Suisui immediately shook her head. “I don’t like it.”

    Jian Chengxi was stunned. “Why?”

“Because Alice said she would trade the potion book with Suisui.” Li Suisui’s clever little head immediately came to a conclusion. She even sighed in relief and patted her chest. “Fortunately, Suisui isn’t a good child.”

    “…”

There’s no need to be glad about that.

When the two of them reached the hospital entrance, they saw Alice from the distance, who was waiting with the teacher for the butler to pick her up.

The poor little girl had tear stains on her face, and her back looked lonely and somewhat pitiful.

Watching their figures as they left, Jian Chengxi turned around and glanced back at the hospital in the distance, remembering the things Li Lingfeng had told him last night.

    That lady was truly pitiful.

It’s just that he didn’t know how it would all end.

The system popped up and said:【Host, would you like to continue unlocking the protagonist’s memory fragments?】

Jian Chengxi was stunned. “Has the cooldown for the memory fragment item ended?”

The system reminded him:【The cooldown just ended and you earned 10 points last night. Would you like to use them now?】

Jian Chengxi hesitated for a moment. While holding his daughter’s hand, he looked at Alice in the distance. He gritted his teeth as he made up his mind and said, “Use.”

The system immediately deducted the points.

With the sound of a “ding“, another memory fragment was unlocked, appearing in Jian Chengxi’s mind:

【Alice’s greatest regret in life was not being able to see her mother one last time.】

    ?

    The last time!?

Jian Chengxi was stunned when he saw this memory fragment.

If that’s the case, doesn’t that mean it’s very possible that the person in the hospital room right now might not be in good condition? Doesn’t that mean Alice might never see her again?

Li Suisui tugged at her father’s hand and said, “Daddy?”

Jian Chengxi looked down and glanced at his daughter.

He had always wanted to do something to change his child’s fate, but in the past, he didn’t know where to start. Yet now, he seemed to understand what to do.

He lifted his wrist and glanced at the time. There were still two hours before Li Chen’s school ended.

Jian Chengxi held Suisui in his arms and walked up to the teacher, asking, “Hello teacher, are you with the child?”

The teacher responded and said, “Yes, Alice isn’t feeling well. I’m waiting for her butler to come and pick her up.”

“I see,” Jian Chengxi smiled and said, “Why don’t you head back first? I’ll stay with her. After all, my daughter Suisui and Alice are good friends and it’s better if the two children wait together.”
