Chapter 70 – Parallel Extra 09: Trap
by Salted Fish
Ye Zhou had already arrived at the Guan Corporation Trade Center and saw President Chen’s car, but he was stopped at the entrance and couldn’t get in. Even after repeatedly asserting that he was there to see Guan Heng, the security guard didn’t let him through, insisting that he needed a prior appointment. With no other choice, Ye Zhou took out his phone and called Guan Heng. The call went through, but Guan Heng never answered.
Just then, a female employee happened to pass by and approached upon hearing the commotion. “What’s going on?”
The female employee seemed to hold a high position, as the security guard respectfully explained, “This man claims to be a salesperson from Zhoujishi Trade and wants to see Vice President Guan without an appointment…”
“Zhoujishi…” The female employee glanced at Ye Zhou and said, “I remember now, your name is Ye Zhou, right?”
“Yes.” Ye Zhou didn’t recognize her but still politely replied, “Do you know me?”
The female employee smiled. “I work under Vice President Guan. It’s normal that you don’t know me since I handle written documents and have seen your photo.”
Ye Zhou hesitated before speaking, unsure if asking to see Guan Heng would be too much of a bother. “I have something very important to discuss with Vice President Guan. I wonder if…”
The female employee readily agreed. “Sure, I’ll take you inside.”
After filling out his basic information at the entrance, Ye Zhou followed the female employee. She wore high heels and walked slowly, so Ye Zhou didn’t rush her and adjusted his pace accordingly. She led Ye Zhou into a building, but just as they were entering the elevator, her heel got caught, causing her to stumble forward.
Ye Zhou quickly stepped forward to support her. Although the female employee didn’t fall, she twisted her ankle and appeared to be in great pain. “Thank you, Vice President Guan is on the twelfth floor. You can go up directly…”
Ye Zhou was concerned about Guan Heng’s situation, but he couldn’t possibly leave the female employee unattended. “Is there a medical room here?”
“Yes, in the next building.”
It was already after working hours, and the medical staff had left, but the medical room wasn’t locked. Ye Zhou didn’t find anything odd and entered to look for medicine and bandages. Meanwhile, the female employee quietly closed the door behind him and locked it.
When Ye Zhou found the medicine and turned around, he saw the female employee injecting herself. “What are you doing…”
Before Ye Zhou could finish his sentence, he immediately smelled a strong Omega pheromone, similar to the scent of flowers, emanating from her body. This concentration was almost comparable to the heat period.
Ye Zhou’s expression changed, and he immediately covered his mouth and nose while feeling his pocket. “What did you just inject?”
However, he had rushed over in such a hurry that he didn’t bring any suppressant pills, and he suddenly remembered that he had run out of them at the convenience store last time. He searched for his phone instead, but it was nowhere to be found.
“Do you need this?” The female employee held Ye Zhou’s phone, which she had taken when he supported her. The phone was already turned off, and she casually threw it to the ground, causing the screen to shatter upon impact.
“Why did you –” Ye Zhou couldn’t bear to hit an Omega, but if he couldn’t fight back, could he at least run? He mourned the loss of his phone for a moment before trying to push past the Omega to leave.
But the female employee seemed prepared, her intention to keep Ye Zhou there evident. She blocked the medical room entrance and then undid her collar, revealing a large area of fair skin.
“You –” Ye Zhou immediately looked away, hastily stepping back several times, never expecting such tactics. At this point, Ye Zhou realized the female employee’s true intentions. “You’re not one of Guan Heng’s people. You…you’re from Guan Zhao’s side.”
Ye Zhou blamed himself for his lack of vigilance, falling into this trap. He had anticipated that Guan Zhao might target Guan Heng, but he never thought he’d target him as well. He was just a small salesperson; why go to such lengths to deal with him? Could it be that they knew about his relationship with Guan Heng…
No, it couldn’t be that fast. Guan Zhao must have prepared for both possibilities, targeting Guan Heng while also taking action against their company. As a representative of Zhoujishi Trade, Ye Zhou carried the reputation of the company. If a scandal involving him broke out, it could force the company to abandon the contract due to public pressure.
This was the worst-case scenario. But at the moment, Ye Zhou couldn’t think that far ahead. He wondered if something had also happened to Guan Heng…
The female employee, fearing that Ye Zhou would escape, began undressing even more provocatively, removing her top and starting to take off her pants. Ye Zhou had no choice but to turn away, but the enclosed medical room meant that the concentrated Omega pheromones began affecting him…
Ye Zhou didn’t give up. His eyes scanned the shelves for a bottle of medicine, attempting to reason with her. “…Is it really worth it for you to do this?”
“Alphas can’t understand how Omegas feel. It’s too difficult for an Omega to climb the ranks. I’ve worked hard for years to reach this position, yet I can’t compete with a new Alpha employee who just joined the company,” the female employee said coldly despite the otherwise seductive atmosphere, clearly feeling that the world was unfair, yet still arrogant. “But don’t think Alphas can control Omegas. You’re still affected by our pheromones, just like animals in heat…”
The female employee spoke harshly, but Ye Zhou wasn’t provoked. He knew she was intentionally saying these things to provoke him.
Seeing Ye Zhou unmoved and silent, although his breathing was already disordered, she slowly approached him, attempting to place her hand on his shoulder. Although she used her body as a weapon, she could tell that Ye Zhou was one of the few Alphas who didn’t discriminate against Omegas. Sleeping with such an Alpha wouldn’t be completely disagreeable to her.
But just as she was about to touch Ye Zhou, he suddenly exerted his Alpha dominance. “Don’t come closer!”
The female employee retreated several steps, her frail body trembling, not daring to approach any further.
Ye Zhou softened his tone. “I have a partner.”
The female employee was taken aback. “But you don’t have anyone else’s scent on you…”
“Of course not, because he’s an Alpha,” Ye Zhou didn’t feel that there was anything wrong with revealing this. “Although we haven’t known each other for long, I love him very much. So stop doing things like this. I hope you can find someone who loves you too.”
The female employee frowned. “Are you scolding me for being self-indulgent?”
“No,” Ye Zhou said. “I’m just saying that work isn’t everything. You can find someone to work hard with you, rather than bearing everything alone.”
The female employee was speechless.
Meanwhile, in the conference hall, Guan Heng was about to drink a sip of white wine when his hand suddenly paused. In the next second, he suddenly smashed the glass.
President Chen, Secretary Lin, and even the sommelier all stared in shock. “Vice President Guan?”
Guan Heng stared coldly at them, releasing an overwhelming aura, particularly with his icy gaze fixed on the sommelier, who bore a slight resemblance to Ye Zhou. “Guan Zhao hasn’t improved at all. He wants to use the same trick again?”
The sommelier was terrified, retreating several steps and tripping over. President Chen was also sweating profusely, having never seen an Alpha emit such a terrifying aura, powerful to the point of being frightening.
Only Secretary Lin remained relatively calm, as he was the only one present who knew that Guan Heng was an Enigma, not an Alpha. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Didn’t you see the wine bottle being opened with your own eyes?”
This was the reason Guan Zhao targeted Guan Heng. Since childhood, he had been wary of his younger brother, fearing that Guan Heng would seize power as he grew older.
“The wine bottle doesn’t need to be opened to be drugged. A test would reveal everything,” Guan Heng was buying time to allow his secretary to record and gather evidence. He slightly turned his head toward his secretary standing behind him. “Preserve the evidence from the scene and call the police.”
The secretary immediately put away the hidden recorder in his sleeve and picked up his phone to make a call.
Secretary Lin tried to step forward to prevent him but was stopped. He panicked. “You can’t do this. It will ruin the Guan Conglomerate’s reputation. Aren’t you afraid of the photos being exposed…”
Guan Heng smiled in response. “The person in the photo is my only partner. What do I have to fear? Besides, keeping a cancerous tumor would truly damage the Guan Conglomerate’s reputation.”
Secretary Lin was utterly stunned.
Guan Heng had already set a trap, waiting for President Chen and Secretary Lin to expose themselves. Perhaps his secretary had made arrangements beforehand, as the police arrived quickly, immediately seizing the evidence from the scene and taking the three of them in for investigation.
President Chen held a high status, so the police couldn’t do much to him for the time being, but the truth would be revealed soon enough.
Guan Heng only needed to wait for the investigation results before handing over the rest to his secretary. Worried that tonight’s events might be interrupted, he had silenced his phone. Now, picking it up, he saw that Ye Zhou had called multiple times. He immediately returned the call, but it was disconnected, indicating that the phone was turned off. As a salesperson, Ye Zhou always had to be ready to answer client calls and would never normally turn off his phone.
Guan Heng felt something was amiss and immediately instructed his secretary to arrange a car to take him back to the hotel. He hurriedly left the building, accidentally noticing that the lights in the adjacent building were still on.
He didn’t pay much attention to it and continued toward the main entrance.
But just as he was about to get into the car and leave, he spotted Ye Zhou’s car parked on the roadside.
He suddenly yelled to stop, and the driver immediately slammed on the brakes. “Vice President, do you have any instructions?”
Without saying a word, Guan Heng opened the door, got out of the car, and went to the guardhouse at the entrance to check the visitor register. Indeed, he found Ye Zhou’s name on it. Frowning, he asked the guard with a stern tone, “Where is he?”
The guard didn’t expect such a strong reaction from Vice President Guan and stuttered in fear. “Deputy Manager You took him inside.”
“Deputy Manager You? Which Deputy Manager You?” During the inquiry, Guan Heng recalled something, his expression darkening even further. It was the person who had accompanied Secretary Lin. Looking at the time Ye Zhou had arrived, over an hour had passed. Suddenly, he remembered seeing the lights in the adjacent building when he left, which should have been the medical room.
Guan Heng immediately ran toward that building. None of the employees had ever seen him so flustered, and two guards quickly followed him.
The closer they got to the medical room, the sweeter the scent became… it was pheromones, specifically those of an Omega in heat!
The faces of the two guards changed, and they started swallowing suppressant pills rapidly. Although Guan Heng wasn’t affected, his expression grew even darker. He stopped in front of the medical room door, realizing it was locked. The guard who had finished his pill hurriedly caught up, intending to find a spare key to open it.
Guan Heng couldn’t wait. He kicked the door open. Since being rescued from drowning as a child, he had diligently practiced martial arts. An Enigma’s physical abilities surpassed those of an Alpha, and the lock was broken by his kick.
Guan Heng rushed in. The female employee screamed and hastily covered her naked body with her clothes.
Guan Heng didn’t even glance at her. He saw Ye Zhou huddled in the corner, seemingly fighting against his instincts, drenched in sweat.
Even though Ye Zhou hadn’t touched the female employee, his body was still saturated with the scent of Omega pheromones.
Guan Heng’s face was devoid of emotion, but the oppressive aura around him grew heavier, revealing his extremely displeased mood. He promptly removed his coat, draped it over Ye Zhou’s head, then picked him up and walked out.
The two guards were dumbfounded, and even the female employee was shocked. How could Guan Heng…
Ye Zhou knew that Guan Heng must be upset upon seeing this scene, but he was still somewhat worried about the female employee’s condition. “She didn’t do anything. Don’t blame her…”
Guan Heng didn’t respond. He simply looked down at Ye Zhou, his eyes dark and deep. “You should worry about yourself.”
