by Slashh-XOYang Moshou rushed over and helped him up. “Are you okay?”
Xu Wanhe grabbed him by the collar. “You’ve got some fucking nerve.”
Yang Moshou steadied himself against Xu Wanhe’s chest and pulled him off the ground. “Did you twist your ankle?”
The nearby underlings all stood there stunned, none of them showing the usual instinct to jump into action.
Finally, one of them snapped out of it. “Hey, fuck your mother, are you blind or what…”
The whole group was scolded into silence, not even knowing what they did wrong. Yang Moshou thought to himself, I reacted fast and helped him up, how the hell does that make me blind? But then he saw Xu Wanhe, face dark, walking straight toward that underling.
That underling immediately realized what he’d done. With a loud thud, he dropped to his knees. “Xu-ge, please, I’m begging you, spare me. I wasn’t saying you didn’t see the banana peel… I meant him! I was calling him blind!”
Xu Wanhe raised his leg and kicked the guy straight into the curb. “Get lost.”
Then he turned around and pointed at Yang Moshou. “You too. Fuck off.”
Yang Moshou blinked. “You’re not gonna hit me?”
Xu Wanhe was still pissed and couldn’t be bothered to argue. “Piss off. I’m not in the mood to beat your ass today.”
Yang Moshou thought for a second. “Alright, you said it yourself. If you’re not gonna hit me, I’m not leaving.”
Xu Wanhe gave him a look, one brow lifted slightly. “Why the hell are you following me?”
Yang Moshou was caught off guard by the question. “…You never go in for follow-ups. I just wanted to check on you…”
Xu Wanhe stared at him for a moment, clearly seeing through what he was thinking.
“You really like getting fucked by me that much?”
They were surrounded by people, and as soon as Yang Moshou heard that, he felt a little embarrassed. “What are you even saying…”
Xu Wanhe turned away.
“I’m not in the mood today. Maybe another time.”
Yang Moshou didn’t want to think about the sight of him walking side by side with that boss earlier, so he didn’t press further. “Alright.”
He walked off with his head down, not even watching where he was going, and ran straight into a passing bicycle.
The bike had several watermelons strapped to it. They went flying and smashed on the pavement, splitting into chunks, juice and pulp spilling everywhere. It was a sricky mess.
Yang Moshou kept apologizing while reaching out to help the person who had fallen.
Xu Wanhe glanced back but didn’t react much. Figuring it wasn’t serious, he turned and led his men inside.
Suddenly, someone started cursing. The voice was loud and grating. Xu Wanhe walked inside without turning back, though a frown crept onto his face.
There were faint, muffled sounds of something being hit.
Xu Wanhe cursed under his breath and turned to walk back out.
One of the men beside him was startled. “Xu ge?”
Xu Wanhe stepped out of the lobby and saw Yang Moshou being grabbed by the collar, the two of them locked in some kind of heated argument.
Yang Moshou’s face was pale. “I said I’ll pay you. Why the hell are you still going on and on?”
“And what about my medical fees? I fell. Where the hell am I supposed to get compensation for that?”
Yang Moshou pried at the guy’s hand. “I’m a doctor, alright? Just tell me what hurts and I’ll give you a diagnosis right here. How about that?”
The guy still refused to let go. “You messing with me, asshole?”
Xu Wanhe stepped in and threw a punch, knocking out half of the guy’s front tooth. “Fuck off. I fucking hate loudmouths.”
Yang Moshou blinked. “Actually, I said more than he did just now.”
Xu Wanhe pointed straight at Yang Moshou’s nose. “Shut up.”
Yang Moshou lowered his eyes slightly and noticed that Xu Wanhe’s knuckle had been scraped by the guy’s teeth, blood trailing down his skin in a thin line.
Part of him felt a little sorry, but the other part was definitely keeping score.
Thinking about it, Yang Moshou spoke up. “Let me treat that wound for you. I am a professional, after all. Just think of it as payback for stepping in.”
Xu Wanhe didn’t say anything. He turned and walked inside.
“Come on in.”
Yang Moshou watched his back disappear through the glass door. Then he bent down and stuffed twenty yuan into the hands of the still-stunned man on the ground, muttered another apology, and walked across the street without looking back.
