Chapter 113 – The Twist of the Gods
by Salted FishPlan C—Two crowd controllers, one healer, one melee fighter, ensuring basic crowd control, shortening healing cycles, and stabilizing DPS frequency.
Members:
– Refined Into a Demon 715 (Demon Refiner)
– Hu Yifei 12138 (Demon Refiner)
– Kill All Who Block Me (Assassin)
– Milk is Mom (Wandering Physician)
Kill All Who Block Me was chosen through a fair roll among all melee teammates who hadn’t yet participated but wanted to. Equal opportunity for all.
Milk is Mom was voted in by all healers who hadn’t participated but didn’t want to lose XP. When faced with a ticking time bomb, the shameless step forward.
The Ghost Server Legion Leader was beaming with happiness and pride at his overwhelming popularity in the vote. With a leap, he jumped down from the rocky cliff.
Still standing on the cliff, Kill All Who Block Me facepalmed: “Were you planning to pull aggro for me first?”
With a healer present, the battle started smoother than anyone could’ve imagined. The coordination between 438 and 138 was seamless, and Milk is Mom’s skills matched his shamelessness in equal measure. The biggest surprise, however, was Kill All Who Block Me. After several rounds, his positioning was precise, his attacks efficient—his skills had improved by leaps and bounds since the cross-server PvP days!
“How could he not improve?” Meteor Blitz sighed, recounting Kill All Who Block Me’s tragic history. “After getting completely crushed by that freakish Demon Refiner of yours in cross-server PvP, the poor guy lost his mind. He camped outside the city every day, hunting down Demon Refiners. For a while, even the mediocre ones didn’t dare step out. He earned the nickname ‘Fahai.'”
“So that’s how he honed his skills?”
“Nah, indiscriminate killing only earned him endless infamy points. Until one day, he ambushed another Demon Refiner who also had a Bell Maiden… and got sent airborne again…”
“Oh~~ Poor boy~~~”
“Hu Yifei, stop pretending you don’t remember…”
How he improved his skills wasn’t the point. The point was, Kill All Who Block Me, as a true man, didn’t let such a devastating experience break him. Instead, he sharpened his edge and now stood shoulder-to-shoulder with his former nemeses in battle. If Meteor Blitz’s teammates hadn’t blabbed, no one would’ve known the bitterness in his heart…
Kill All Who Block Me, your name is Iron-Willed Hero! TAT
“Can you guys be serious for once?!” Kill All Who Block Me roared in YY as another mob fell.
His teammates whined, “We are being serious! We can’t fight down there, so we’re just bonding.”
“Then bond over your own damn business!”
“No gossip, so boring…”
“……”
The word “boring” had never been associated with the Ghost Server Legion Leader: “Then let me tell you some stories from our Legion’s time in the Mirage Server~~ Ohhhh~~ Guaranteed more exciting than the songs of bards…”
Five Peaks Pavilion & Meteor Blitz: “Piss off!”
Meanies TAT
Though they nipped Milk Mom’s nonsense in the bud, the teammates on the cliff soon realized that being a Legion Leader meant the guy had some real skills.
The battle below the cliff was halfway through, reaching a fever pitch. The mobs’ attack speed increased, and their damage output spiked significantly. But Kill All Who Block Me’s tempo also quickened—likely from using a speed scroll or some special buff, as an acceleration status appeared above his head, matching the mobs’ attack frequency. The real shocker, however, was the healer. Without any buffs, he somehow kept Kill All Who Block Me’s HP stable—not just keeping him alive, but maintaining his HP above 50% at all times. That was top-tier reaction speed and awareness!
After cross-server PvP, it wasn’t just Kill All Who Block Me who had improved!
YY gradually fell silent as everyone held their breath, eyes glued to the battle. Their excitement surged with each mob that fell, and it took all their willpower not to shout, “Healer, you’re killing it!”
“Holy crap! I’m a freaking tech god! Who’s ever seen heals this savage~~~ Ahahahaha~~~”
—If no one cheers, applaud yourself. I’m the Ghost Server Legion Leader, and I endorse myself.
YY remained silent.
The teammates’ excitement had cooled. Yeah, restraint was easy now =_=
Simultaneously, a similar sentiment rose like steam in every teammate’s heart, converging into a shared dream—
[Team] Eldest Martial Brother: I know I shouldn’t, but I kinda hope the mobs kill him just once…
[Team] Suave Not Sleazy: You. Are. Not. Alone.
Fang Zheng, aka Milk is Mom, didn’t become a Legion Leader just because of his impeccable skills, sterling character, and overwhelming charisma—all self-proclaimed, by the way—but also because of his unyielding spirit.
Everyone has a flower in their heart. Some are fragile, wilting at the slightest breeze. Others are resilient, shedding petals in a storm but budding anew when the sun returns. And then there are those whose flowers transcend fragility and resilience, entering a whole new realm. No storm or even steel-toed boots can crush them, for they are plastic flowers—eternally vibrant, never withering.
Whether the healer lurking in the shadows, spamming heals on Kill All Who Block Me, saw the chat log remains unknown. But the moment the messages flooded in, he started humming, “It’s not easy~~ to find someone who gets you~~~”
Teammates took solace in this rare moment of self-awareness before collectively shifting their gaze to the zombie on the cliff—
The world of the Ghost Server Legion Leader was beyond their comprehension.
And the world of the Legion Leader’s Deputy, who actually liked this guy… Holy hell, that must be an alien planet!
In the mess of it all, only three mobs remained. Hu Yifei decisively handed full control duties to 438, swapped out her Bell Maiden, and summoned… a pufferfish?!
The adorable pet, oblivious to the confusion, bubbled along leisurely under its owner’s command until it neared a mob—then instantly puffed up into a spiky ball and began rolling all over the enemy! Yes, rolling, like a lint roller attacking a wool coat, covering every inch in a relentless, indiscriminate assault!
Similarly, the mob’s HP dropped like a slot machine, numbers spinning rapidly! Though each individual hit was weak, even multiplied by its insane frequency, it was still just average for a physical-attack pet. But it made up for it with style, flair, and the ability to blind 438 with sheer adorableness!
“Sister! Where’d you get this pet?!”
“Changbai Mountain Heavenly Pool.”
“How come I’ve never seen it?!”
“Its attack power’s mediocre, so I just kept it for fun.”
“But it’s so cute!!”
“…”
“Look at its eyes! Look at the bubbles! Look at the spikes…”
“Shut up!”
“Wahh…”
“I’ll give it to you after the dungeon.”
“Sister, you’re the best!”
Kill All Who Block Me: “Why does this feel like a gender-swapped conversation…”
Fang Zheng: “That’s not the point! The point is… 438, are you fucking controlling the mobs or not?!”
The Legion Leader’s outburst was justified. Aside from the mob Kill All Who Block Me was attacking, the other two had been airborne for so long that their aggro had locked onto the healer. Every time the airborne effect ended and control alternated, Hu Yifei and 438 would take hits—but since they weren’t attacking, only Milk is Mom’s heals drew aggro, which was far higher than the airborne effect. So when 438 spaced out, the mobs seized their chance and lunged at the healer.
Spotting the danger, the Legion Leader bolted immediately. But no matter how fast his fingers or how slippery his movement, the gap between a healer and two elite mobs with ranged attacks was insurmountable. By the time 438 regained control and re-airborned the mobs, the healer was hanging on by a thread.
But a thread was enough, so the cliffside teammates could only sigh in disappointment.
Thirty seconds later, the Legion Leader healed himself to full and revived on the spot.
“Want me dead? Try again next lifetime, ahahahaha~~~”
Silence.
The teammates let the Legion Leader’s taunting laughter echo in YY, calmly pretending their headsets were off.
When only one mob remained, 438 stopped controlling and also recalled his Bell Maiden, swapping in his Flying Fish pet.
Under the combined assault of one melee fighter and two pets, the mob’s HP dwindled to a sliver. With its dying breath, it let out a furious roar and unleashed a final AoE attack!
Hu Yifei and 438, standing behind the mob, were spared.
Flying Fish lost half its HP!
Kill All Who Block Me lost three-quarters of his HP!
The pufferfish rolled straight back into Hu Yifei’s pet bag!
[Combat] Milk is Mom has died.
Ever the diligent worker, the Flying Fish didn’t stop flapping its tail. One final smack, and the mob collapsed for good!
Deafening cheers erupted in YY: “Nice job!”
Nicknamed White Dragon Horse added on behalf of everyone: “We meant the mob.”
Fang Zheng lay on the ground, grinding his teeth in frustration. This wasn’t just about dying at the finish line—this was about dignity, honor, and a brutal strike against his shameless lifestyle…
[Combat] Milk is Mom has revived.
Legion Leader’s inner thoughts: Huh?
United Team’s inner thoughts: WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?!
A gentle breeze swept across the battlefield. Amidst the scattered mob corpses, Milk is Mom stood tall and proud, his Golden Hoop gleaming atop his head.
Your Uncle: “Legion Leader, hold that pose! It’s so cool, let me screenshot it!”
Fang Zheng: “Cheeeeese~~~”
Which bastard wrote in the game’s promo that “all are equal in the land of Huaxia”?!
Drag them out and execute them for five hundred minutes!!! TAT
“Kill All Who Block Me, loot the mobs.” Kill Gods If They Block Me weakly reminded, barely clinging to life.
Kill All Who Block Me stared at the pristine loot-less ground and facepalmed: “Loot what?”
Then came 438’s guilt-ridden voice: “Sorry…”
“It’s fine,” the cliffside teammates sighed. A full loot wipe was nothing compared to the emotional rollercoaster they’d endured. All they cared about now was: “We’ll pay you 100 Huaxia Coins—just tell us when you looted the mobs, okay?”
[Legion] Refined Into a Demon 715: Legion Leader, they suddenly got so gentle… It’s terrifying >_<
[Legion] Milk is Mom: Relax, it’s their way of showing respect.
[Legion] Refined Into a Demon 715: Really?
[Legion] Milk is Mom: Of course! They’re just tsundere like that~~~ But it’s kinda cute, ahahaha~~~
[Legion] Fifth Brother’s Trading Post: Thank god this wasn’t posted in Team chat.
[Legion] Blood Bulls Don’t Graze: The Legion Leader spared their lives.
Though the grueling mob-clearing yielded no loot, the path forward in the dungeon was now wide open. The crowded platform revealed a gaping hole in the cliffside, and teammates standing too close to the edge tumbled right in. The scouts reported: “It’s a water pit! Jump down, no HP loss!”
The sight of thirty players leaping into a pit together was spectacular, but the pit itself was far less welcoming. To be precise, it was a mud pit about 30 meters in diameter, littered with floating skulls.
The teammates struggled to their feet, the muddy water reaching their waists. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to climb out—there was simply no land in sight. Then, a shadow began forming at the center of the pit, growing darker and denser, as if something was rising from the depths…
Everyone held their breath, gripping their mice tightly.
Finally, the thing broke the surface—a woman, her disheveled hair covering nearly her entire face!
Drink Till You Drop: “Stay alert!”
Fang Zheng & Big H: “Relax~~”
[System] Girl in a Pool of Blood: Meilin!
[System] Meilin: Xue!
Five Peaks Pavilion & Ghost Server & Meteor Blitz: …
On-screen, the two girls embraced, weeping and sharing their sorrows. Off-screen, the teammates wiped their eyes with tissues, their vision blurred.
Men don’t cry easily—unless their hearts are truly broken. The developers’ goal was clearly to torture them to death. Oh, what a painful realization.
Once pushed to absolute despair, nothing could faze them anymore—not even two girls chatting until a boss descended from the heavens.
Though presumably the second boss, his lethality paled in comparison to the twelve-mob hellscape from earlier. This wasn’t about raw damage output—the second boss’s attacks were actually devastating, often requiring immediate heals to survive a second hit. But with thirty players and ample healing, plus the discovery that attacking from behind dealt bonus damage, they could theoretically halve the boss’s takedown time with proper positioning.
Naturally, the united team did just that.
But while they tried to flank the boss, the boss tried to face them, resulting in a bizarre dance where both sides spun in circles like a twisted game of “Ring Around the Rosie.”
And so, the second boss fell—uneventfully.
This time, Drink Till You Drop looted the corpse. Still nothing.
But it didn’t dampen the team’s spirits. If anything, their battered souls found solace in this mundane fight—proof that even in a world full of malice, there was always a corner for respite.
After the second boss’s defeat, the muddy water receded, revealing the ground beneath and a grotesquely vibrant blood-red flower at the center. According to the boss’s dying words, this flower was tied to the final boss’s life force. Disturbing it would summon the ultimate challenge.
After a night of trials, the decisive battle was finally at hand. Strangely, everyone felt calm. The XP lost to the twelve-mob ordeal had mostly been recovered during the second boss fight, and all the frustration, despair, and suffering now seemed like a distant memory—or perhaps, it was this very moment that gave meaning to those struggles.
Drink Till You Drop: “Take a breather, everyone. We’ll go all out soon.”
2B Fighter Jet: “Damn right!”
Summit of Mount Tai: “Suffered all night—finally, the light at the end of the tunnel.”
Fifth Brother’s Trading Post: “Think of all the level 70 celebration gifts the devs will send when we all hit it?”
Mad Lad: “Who cares? Think of all the money they’ve milked from us.”
Leaves Fall on Chang’an: “Mr. Moneybags, remove the ‘us’ from that sentence.”
Some rested and chatted, while others seized every second to chase their dreams.
[Combat] Refined Into a Demon 715 has died.
“How do you die while resting?!” Even the shameless Legion Leader had his limits. “If you don’t care about your XP, at least spare the healer’s MP!”
“Legion Leader, sorry…” The only silver lining was that the troublemaker’s apologies were always sincere. “There was this cute little mob over here, and I figured since we had time, I’d try to capture it…” But sincerity didn’t mean change.
Fang Zheng sighed, ready to revive him—but couldn’t find him on-screen. Turns out, after the mud receded, a tunnel had appeared in the northeast corner. Guiding Milk is Mom through it, he entered a spacious cavern with a few scattered mobs—ordinary ones they’d seen throughout the dungeon. Fang Zheng couldn’t spot which one qualified as “cute.”
One skill revived the Demon Refiner. Another topped off his HP.
438: “Uh, Legion Leader…”
Fang Zheng: “Do whatever. Try all you want. Experiment to your heart’s content—just don’t cry over lost XP.”
438: “I love you!”
Fang Zheng: “No idol worship~~~”
Nicknamed White Dragon Horse: “Big bro, there are twenty-eight other people here. Keep it PG.”
With the Legion Leader’s blessing, 438 scampered off to provoke mobs again.
Though Fang Zheng allowed it, he had no intention of joining the chaos, so he returned to the group and sat down to meditate.
Perhaps not wanting to trouble the Legion Leader further, over the next five minutes, 438’s HP yo-yoed—constantly dropping but always recovering at the last second. Clearly, he was using the classic “hit-and-run, heal, repeat” strategy.
The cycle continued, the practitioner unwavering, the spectators growing numb.
Big H: “Demon Refiner~~ Give it up~~ Obsession is suffering~~ Learn to let go~~”
Before the words faded, 438 suddenly came out again from the tunnel.
Big H was about to boast about his persuasive charm—how two sentences had brought the wayward player back—when he noticed 438 wasn’t alone. A mob trailed behind him, the very one he’d been fruitlessly trying to capture.
The teammates, still seated, watched lazily. No one moved to help—because 438 didn’t need it. His MP was nearly drained, yet he stubbornly kept spamming “Capture” over and over.
But some couldn’t stand the futility—
Big H: “Sigh~~ If you won’t let go~~ I’ll do it for you~~”
Nicknamed White Dragon Horse: “This is an inner demon—it must be purged!”
Rarely in sync, the Spirit Master and Berserker acted as one. Blizzard Gale’s azure glow and Solitary Desert Haze’s golden blade aura engulfed the mob simultaneously!
An unremarkable mob met an unremarkable end.
[Combat] Refined Into a Demon 715 gained 300 XP.
[Combat] Big H gained 300 XP.
[Combat] Nicknamed White Dragon Horse gained 300 XP.
[Combat] Big H has leveled up.
[Combat] Nicknamed White Dragon Horse has leveled up.
