Chapter 166 – City of The Cursed (Part 3)
by Salted FishBeijing Time, 21:13.
Little Lucky Charm stopped placing bets and instead circled the Big or Small table a few times. Spring Field Blossom watched as he spotted Sky.Li in the crowd. “Stubborn idiot who won’t give up until he hits the wall,” Spring Field Blossom rolled his eyes, thinking this guy was definitely confronting Li Sky, determined to get a confession like “Yes, Great River is my alt” before he’d be satisfied.
What the two talked about, Spring Field Blossom didn’t know. Li Sky might have guessed he was the one who leaked the info, but he wouldn’t have the audacity to come interrogate him. What was more amusing were the followers—since Little Lucky Charm stopped betting, they stopped too. The dice cup had been silent for a long time, as if meditating on the table. The crowd stood frozen, their bodies turning along with Little Lucky Charm’s movements. When he finally stopped to talk to Li Sky, they all faced his direction like a family of meerkats keeping watch at dusk.
[Casino City] A money bag fell from the sky and hit Rain Through the Woods, awarding 88 chips.
Spring Field Blossom was distracted by the system message. Random rewards were another feature of Las Vegas—sometimes money bags, sometimes bombs or bird droppings. The outcome was always one of two: profit or loss.
But Rain Through the Woods… wasn’t that the guy who hit the jackpot on the slot machine earlier? His luck was really something.
Spring Field Blossom shook his head. Usually, massive strokes of luck like this had nothing to do with him, so he decided to seriously consider whether he should just follow the crowd and become part of the meerkat family.
[Whisper] Little Lucky Charm: Don’t bet this round.
Before he could finish thinking, he received Little Lucky Charm’s message.
Seems like he’s settled things with Li Sky—and didn’t forgive him.
[Whisper] Spring Field Blossom: I haven’t been betting at all.
Spring Field Blossom held back half of what he wanted to say—who knew you’d be as accurate as a fucking dowsing rod?
He liked challenging skilled players, not relentlessly bullying the same weakling. That was why he ended the match voluntarily at 21:00—it was boring. The only reason he played Landlord afterward was that he thought Little Lucky Charm’s unlucky streak should have passed by then, and his luck should have turned around. Plus, Li Sky was there to make up the numbers. But apparently, bad luck was temporary for others—for Little Lucky Charm, it was a permanent accessory.
Seeing Little Lucky Charm finally standing up for himself made Spring Field Blossom oddly happy. Everyone loved to gush over soft, easy targets—”so cute, so cute!”—before devouring them whole. No one would ever take one home to cherish. So if you stayed soft, you’d forever be doomed to a one-way trip.
[System] Spring Field Blossom, please choose—Big or Small?
[System] Spring Field Blossom chooses Big (1 chip).
Spring Field Blossom was curious. Little Lucky Charm’s tone clearly suggested he had a revenge plan, but what did that have to do with betting or not? In games like Landlord or Mahjong, where skill mattered alongside luck, sure, maybe you’d been holding back and were about to unleash your true power—fine, I’ll avoid you. But Big or Small was purely luck-based. How the hell could you rig that? The more he was told not to do something, the more he wanted to do it…
After placing his bet, Spring Field Blossom noticed something—once you bet, your ID appeared on the list of active players. Since he’d only been spectating before, he hadn’t noticed this detail. The result of his carelessness? His ID was the only one on the list!
[Whisper] Little Lucky Charm: I told you not to bet!
Of course he noticed… Game designer, screw your uncle! =_=
But he wasn’t alone for long. A second ID appeared—Little Lucky Charm chooses Big (5 chips).
Following Little Lucky Charm’s bet, the player list exploded. Within seconds, dozens of pages of IDs appeared, all choosing Small. The amounts varied, but most were over 30 chips, with some going all-in at 100+!
Spring Field Blossom facepalmed. Just how much faith do you guys have in the God of Misfortune? And hey, Misfortune God, did you have to copy my bet? This is my first time playing Big or Small—couldn’t you at least give me a nice memory to…
[Megaphone] Little Lucky Charm: Oh hey, I just remembered something~ After playing for so long, we still haven’t gotten a triple! ~~So unscientific, waaah~~~
[Megaphone] Little Lucky Charm: Oh hey, I just remembered something~ After playing for so long, we still haven’t gotten a triple! ~~So unscientific, waaah~~~
[Megaphone] Little Lucky Charm: Oh hey, I just remembered something~ After playing for so long, we still haven’t gotten a triple! ~~So unscientific, waaah~~~
The sudden flood of megaphone messages interrupted Spring Field Blossom’s internal rant. He couldn’t figure out why this guy was spamming megaphones—one was enough, yet he blew through several dollars’ worth. And the worst part? Since only one megaphone message could be pinned at the top, sending multiple identical ones had the same effect as sending just one!
And the content? His brain couldn’t process it. Someone explain this to me, please =_=
The masses were just as confused as Spring Field Blossom, but since they were all benefiting from Little Lucky Charm’s “luck,” no one dared speak up… except for a few particularly mouthy ones—
[Casino City] Shovel Roams the World: Look at you, worrying about everything. Maybe worry about yourself first—you’re the most unscientific thing here, HAHAHAHA
[System] 6, 6, 6—Triple! All bets cleared!
[Casino City] Shovel Roams the World: ……
Spring Field Blossom had a whole arsenal of insults ready for Shovel, but now his fingers could only type out six dots like everyone else.
What the hell just happened?!
Spring Field Blossom was stunned. The other players were too. It was like that scene in God of Cookery where an actual god appears—there one second, gone the next, leaving everyone questioning whether it was real or an illusion.
Maybe only one person remained clear-headed—
[Whisper] Little Lucky Charm: Don’t play this round. You hear me?
Spring Field Blossom swallowed hard. For a second, it felt like the person on the other end of the whisper wasn’t a soft pushover, but a shadow wielding a scythe… TAT
Before Spring Field Blossom could reply, Little Lucky Charm’s ID instantly appeared at the top of the betting list for the new round—this time, he bet Small, and his wager dropped to 1 chip.
Following Little Lucky Charm had become second nature for the players at the Big or Small table. Even though they hadn’t recovered from the last round, most reflexively followed him and bet Big.
[System] Spring Field Blossom, please choose: Big/Small?
Spring Field Blossom hesitated between Big and Small, his eyes repeatedly darting to that ominous whisper, before finally clicking “Pass” =_=
[Megaphone] Little Lucky Charm: Wow, a triple actually happened, so scary~~~ >_<
[Megaphone] Little Lucky Charm: What if it happens again this round?! Li Sky, what do we do?!
Being called out so abruptly made Li Sky freeze. Answer or not? What to do? He wanted to know what to do too! Taking advantage of others was human nature! If you’re dumb, soft, and easy to fool, you’re bound to get bullied—why can’t you accept that? What’s happening now feels like a one-way ticket to the mental hospital! TAT
The system didn’t wait for Li Sky’s reply and kept to its own rhythm—
[System] 6, 6, 6—Triple! All bets cleared!
……
[Megaphone] Little Lucky Charm: They say bad luck doesn’t strike thrice… but does it really? Maybe it does…
[System] 6, 6, 6—Triple! All bets cleared!
……
[Megaphone] Little Lucky Charm: Damn, I’m gonna lose my pants at this rate! Surely it won’t clear us out again, that’s too cruel TAT
[System] 6, 6, 6—Triple! All bets cleared!
……
[System] 6, 6, 6—Triple! All bets cleared!
[System] 6, 6, 6—Triple! All bets cleared!
[System] 6, 6, 6—Triple! All bets cleared!
……
What was cruel wasn’t the system—it was the curse!
Little Lucky Charm’s Mysterious Curse!!!
No one dared bet on Big or Small anymore. Even gamblers at other tables stopped to watch. Those who witnessed the whole thing already understood the situation—now, they either stared at the World Chat or gathered around the Big or Small table to spectate.
Thus, the entire Las Vegas came to a standstill.
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Why’d everyone stop? The dice cup is so lonely~ I bet Big already, hurry up and bet Small~~~
The only one bouncing around happily was a certain little troublemaker ╮(╯_╰)╭
Spring Field Blossom couldn’t believe his eyes. Even Little Lucky Charm’s previous losing streak hadn’t been this absurd.
Everyone clicked on the table to spectate, but no one placed bets. Not a single one.
The dice cup stopped as usual, slowly opening under the breathless anticipation of the crowd—
[System] 1, 1, 1—Small.
Las Vegas remained silent.
Everyone had so much to say, but no idea where to start. All their chaotic thoughts condensed into four words—
What the fuck, this makes no sense!!!!!!!!
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: I never understood why the Commander likes to sing when he’s happy.
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Now I think I get it.
Spring Field Blossom was the first spectator on the gambling ship—no, it should be renamed the “Shockwave”—to regain consciousness. Though he still couldn’t wrap his head around the mysterious triples, and though he didn’t understand the meaning behind Little Lucky Charm’s last two messages, human instinct told him… tremble. The time has come.
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Mmm~ MUA~~~ Wait and wait~~~ Mmm~ MUA~~~ Dream and dream~~~ Mmm~ MUA~~~ Go crazy and crazy~~~ Give back what you took from me~~~ Spit out what you ate from me~~~
Dammit, Commander, can’t you set a normal example for your subordinates?!
Perhaps because Your Uncle’s singing was too divine, the crowd finally snapped out of it and launched a counterattack—
[Casino City] White Rhino: Stop pretending. Where’d you get the hack? Drop the link.
[Casino City] Former Dynasty Scholar: +1
[Casino City] Shovel Roams the World: +ID number!
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Li Sky, didn’t you say you don’t believe in permanent bad luck or good luck? I don’t either, but I really do seem cursed. What do you think?
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: And to everyone else, don’t be mad. Haven’t you heard? Gambling is 90% loss. If you win big early but don’t know when to quit, you’ll lose it all later. Totally normal~~~
Now he didn’t just sing—he even understood the Commander’s wavy lines. Because negative emotions really did drift away with those waves, dissipating into the distance.
Ever since he started gaming, he’d always thought about how to talk less, how to reduce the frequency of his bad luck, how to make his gaming buddies dislike him a little less. But he’d never tried summoning the curse on purpose. Now that he had, it worked eight out of ten times. Call it fate, call it an unlucky birth chart—but it wasn’t all bad, right? ╰( ̄▽ ̄)╮
[Casino City] Frost Blade in the Mist: Hey hey, that topic change was way too forced. We’re talking about you hacking. Give us an answer, Misfortune God.
The gamblers who’d lost who-knows-how-many chips spat venom with every word.
Spring Field Blossom wasn’t sure how Little Lucky Charm had pulled it off. Did he really use some unknown plugin? Even if so, damn it, why did he suddenly feel like jumping into the same trench as this guy? Being soft on small animals was supposed to be a feminine trait, not…
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Yeah~~~ I totally hacked~~~ Then go report me on the forums~~~ Get the GM to ban me~~~ Go on, go go go~~~ [Wriggle][Wriggle][Wriggle]
Whoever said this guy was a soft, pitiable creature should be dragged out and quartered! No—quartered thirty times!
And maybe it was his imagination, but ever since Little Lucky Charm started spamming wavy lines, his combat output seemed to skyrocket. Soft pushover? Ha. More like a human meat bun—spicy as hell!
[Whisper] Little Lucky Charm: I didn’t hack.
The sudden message startled Spring Field Blossom. He didn’t know why the other felt the need to explain—while hacking was frowned upon, given how badly he’d been bullied earlier, a little cheating wouldn’t be unforgivable.
But since he’d gone out of his way to say it, Spring Field Blossom couldn’t say much else—
[Whisper] Spring Field Blossom: Oh.
[Whisper] Little Lucky Charm: You don’t believe me TAT
[Whisper] Spring Field Blossom: ……
[Whisper] Little Lucky Charm: But between hacking and being genuinely cursed, believing either one is kinda painful…
You realize that!!
Spring Field Blossom was being tortured in whispers, while those who’d already been tortured on World Chat launched their counterattack. Every imaginable insult flooded the chat—those who could type did so, while those who’d get censored used symbols. Most were players who’d lost big, so their words were as venomous as possible.
Little Lucky Charm ignored them all, focusing solely on tormenting Spring Field Blossom in whispers. So Spring Field Blossom assumed he didn’t care—until—
[Casino City] Wandering Miracle Doctor: With luck this bad and a mouth this foul, no one would want to play with you, right? You must have zero friends.
This unremarkable line was buried in the spam, but Little Lucky Charm chose to reply to this one—
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Screw you! Laozi has a whole legion of comrades!
No one knew—Your Uncle could endure daily lightning strikes, but he couldn’t handle being told he had no friends. Because he’d experienced the transition from having friends who loved him to being universally despised, left all alone. It was like falling into a gray world, and he’d stayed there so long that even after escaping, even after gaining a Commander, a Deputy, and comrades, he still feared that ghost might reappear. So he watched his words, restrained himself, and when someone said “no friends,” he bristled like the curse was about to come true.
[Casino City] Wandering Miracle Doctor: Oh? Then where are they? Why haven’t they shown up to spam for you after all this time?
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: They’re… in another zone.
[Casino City] Wandering Miracle Doctor: So they don’t want to play with you either ╮(╯_╰)╭
[Casino City] Wandering Miracle Doctor: Stop lying. You said you didn’t hack, right? Then you’re really cursed. Who’d want a cursed comrade? Your score’s already negative one, HAHAHAHA
Dammit.
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Calling Spring Field Blossom!!!!!!
As an innocent bystander, Spring Field Blossom felt the scorching flames from the city gates.
Originally blending into the crowd unnoticed, the players around him gradually recognized his ID and backed away, leaving him in an empty circle—as if waiting for a spotlight to shine down on him.
But Spring Field Blossom was a man of principles, integrity, and pride. Just because he disliked Li Sky’s actions didn’t mean he’d actually ally with Little Lucky Charm—especially not in this brutal situation where the entire server was either an enemy or a sworn foe. Stepping forward now would make him a pincushion in seconds!
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Spring Field Blossom?
Don’t answer. Pretend you don’t know him.
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Are you abandoning me~~~ TAT
Don’t answer. Stick to the act.
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Don’t do this, you’re my only friend here, if even you won’t play with me I’ll really cry to death, plus I told you not to bet earlier but you insisted, but your bet wasn’t even that big, you didn’t lose everything…
[Casino City] Spring Field Blossom: Screw you!
[Casino City] Little Lucky Charm: Ah!
[Casino City] A bolt of lightning strikes Spring Field Blossom from the sky, deducting 144 chips.
[Casino City] Spring Field Blossom: Yes, I am Little Lucky Charm’s good friend.
[Casino City] Blue Phoenix: …Are you sure this is voluntary? =_=
[Casino City] Six Immortals of Peach Valley: Something about this feels vaguely tragic…
