by NiluMoonhyuk looked into Dohee’s wide eyes. He seemed pretty surprised, understandable, since Moonhyuk had never volunteered to step up and do something like this before. But no matter what Dohee or the others might think, Moonhyuk felt confident.
Truthfully, ever since Yeohoo had first mentioned that the minigame was a memory matching game, Moonhyuk had been debating whether to step forward. But he’d never been the type to take initiative in anything, and the thought of possibly ruining such an important raid made him hesitate. That’s why he hadn’t volunteered at first. But with both Yeohoo and PrettyHealerHyung dead, and no one else stepping up, he couldn’t just sit back any longer.
MMORPGs were full of things he found difficult, but a memory matching game? That was a different story. Matching pairs was one thing Moonhyuk was genuinely good at, better than anyone else here.
“You want to try it, hyung?”
Dohee, who’d initially looked startled, asked again – not, ‘You? A minigame?’, but simply ‘Do you want to try?’ That was so Dohee-like. He never made belittling comments, even unintentionally. Maybe that was why Moonhyuk felt confident enough to say it.
“…Yes.”
He nodded firmly.
“Okay. You’ll do great.”
Dohee then moved his character aside to make room. But then he suddenly turned back and asked,
“Hyung. Want to use my character instead?”
“Huh? Uh, what?”
Moonhyuk blinked, stunned by the sudden offer. Dohee shrugged and explained,
“My screen’s already being shared, so it’d be easier for the others to see what the minigame looks like. And the viewers are curious too. I’ll turn off the cam, though, just in case it makes you uncomfortable. If it does, you can use your character instead.”
Moonhyuk quickly shook his head. He wasn’t uncomfortable. And Dohee made a fair point. Since his screen was already up, it’d be way more helpful to the rest of the team. Not being able to see what was happening inside the minigame was frustrating. After a brief hesitation, Moonhyuk nodded.
“It’s fine. I’ll use–uh, GoSupp-nim’s character.”
All they had to do was switch seats. No big deal. As Moonhyuk agreed, Dohee turned to the stream.
“You all heard that, right? My hyung’s going to play the minigame using my character, so I’ll turn off the cam for a bit. I’ll still be here watching chat from the side.”
YourWiFiInMyHeart: ??? That’s totally fine
fondffff: Honestly, we’d be fine seeing hyung’s face too
GrayHairedAnne: lol these people are insane, they’re cracking me up. I’m fine with it too ^^
HoneyCheeseColdBrew: Just leave the cam on
enwsnn03: Did anyone else see his hand on screen earlier? It looked huge;; or is GoSupp just tiny…?
MegaCheese: Pretty sure the hand’s just big. Didn’t GoSupp say he was around 175 cm last time?
IcedAmericanoIsTopBeer: For real??? GoSupp’s taller than I thought
AingJuwol: Just turn the cam back on. We want to see hyung’s face~
The chat flew by, but Dohee ignored it and turned off the cam. What nonsense. As if his hyung’s face was for display.
The two quickly switched seats, even swapping headsets. As Moonhyuk sat awkwardly in Dohee’s chair, Dohee felt a strange twist in his chest. It was hard to describe, but seeing Moonhyuk sitting in his usual spot gave him an odd, fluttery feeling. He didn’t know what to call it, just that it felt weird.
— GoSupp, try recording a video when he enters. The tiles get flipped at the start, so if he gets stuck later, you can rewind and help.
At Yeojin’s suggestion, Dohee turned to Moonhyuk. Not a bad idea.
“Should we try that, hyung?”
“Ah… I don’t mind.”
Moonhyuk replied, then turned to PrettyHealerHyung.
“Um… Healer-nim, how many tiles were there?”
[Raid] PrettyHealerHyung: Maybe… around 100? Could’ve been a bit less. Like 50 pairs??
[Raid] PrettyHealerHyung: But I’m not totally sureㅠㅠ just looked like that
[Raid] 4EvilPrettyGirl: There were a lot, considering the time limit’s 3 minutes
[Raid] PrettyHealerHyung: I seriously wonder if the devs even tested this….
[Raid] PrettyHealerHyung: And there are no hintsㅠㅠㅠ
[Raid] SoftRiceCake: LOL what kind of images were they?
[Raid] PrettyHealerHyung: Looked like SoGod monsters..?ㅠㅠ I was too frazzled… [crying emoji]
— When I went in, it was SoGod potions. Bombs and healing ones. I guess there are different versions of the minigame?
“Looks like it. But all the images are at least related to SoGod.”
Moonhyuk nodded silently as he listened.
“I’ll give it a try.”
Dohee’s skill keys were set up differently from his, but thankfully the basic controls were the same. Moonhyuk moved GoSupp’s character and picked up the orb. A system popup appeared, probably only visible to the player holding the orb.
[System] Enter another dimension?
YES / NO
His heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might explode. This didn’t feel real. Was he seriously about to control GoSupp’s character? Just a few months ago, he couldn’t even imagine this.
As he hovered over the YES button, fear suddenly struck.
“Wh-what if I die?”
“Huh?”
Dohee, holding his phone and prepping to record, looked over.
“What do you mean?”
“Well… I mean… this is your character. What if I go in and mess up and GoSupp dies? How could I kill you with my own hands…?”
Dohee stared at him, stunned. The absurdity gave him a mild headache. What do you mean, ‘kill me’, am I even really me?
He opened his mouth, then let out a disbelieving snort.
“What, you think I actually die if the character dies? You could kill me a hundred times and it’s fine. Just go.”
“But still…”
“Hyung. My arm hurts.”
Dohee wiggled the hand holding his phone. Moonhyuk, finally tearing up, pressed the YES button.
“Another dimension,” huh? At this point, they’d seen it all. The screen went dark.
A three-minute timer appeared. Then about 100 cards filled the screen, 50 pairs in total. Dohee hit the record button. Honestly, he didn’t think the video would help much. Who had time to rewatch a clip and match tiles one by one within three minutes? Realistically, flipping one more tile was probably more useful. But hey, it was better than doing nothing.
The cards began to flip, revealing their images. This time, they seemed to be herbs and flowers you could gather in SoGod. While filming, Dohee glanced at Moonhyuk’s profile. Moonhyuk stared at the screen without blinking.
There were exactly 100 cards, 50 pairs. These devs are insane. And just as Yeohoo said, the cards didn’t all reveal. Only about half were shown before flipping back. It was probably designed to prevent players from cheesing it with videos or screenshots.
Once the flipping stopped, a long beep sounded and the timer started counting down. Dohee felt a wave of helplessness. Even though he’d watched it right beside Moonhyuk, he had no clue what was what. And with the images being plants, they all looked way too similar. The only silver lining was that Moonhyuk liked plants and had a high gathering level… but would that even help?
To Dohee’s surprise, Moonhyuk exhaled briefly, then began flipping tiles at lightning speed.
145145Hippo: ??? He’s so fast
WatcherNim: …Do me and hyung have different eyeballs or something? I can’t remember a thing
SuperDoobyDooPa: lol recording this doesn’t even help… I’m just waiting for someone to upload a cheat sheet later
SpottyCow: Huh? This seems easier than I thought?? lol I’m great at memory games
yoongyong: Damn, guess we’ll need to recruit minigame experts for Demon Hunter pug groups now
WhiteChickenMachine: LOL this is hilarious. Minigame skills now a legit raid requirement
tabtabtab13: [Demon Hunter][Phase 1] Recruiting minigame-capable players <<<
GodSorceress: lololol what kind of game is this even??? Peak content
AngelGirlNetHee: This is peak gaming, y’all lol
Dohee couldn’t believe his eyes. Everything looked the same to him, but Moonhyuk moved without hesitation. His fingers clicked the mouse without a hint of doubt. He was matching tiles way faster than the timer was dropping.
When Moonhyuk had first said he wanted to try, Dohee figured there might be something there, but not this. He was flipping tiles like a machine. With every few matches, little celebratory sound effects burst out. And in just over a minute, more than half the board was already cleared.
It was a stunning performance from a total newbie, one no one had expected.
