As soon as Tando finished speaking, a massive sandstorm erupted around the boss. Dohee instinctively shouted without thinking.

“Everyone, Light Pot!”

“Light Pot” was short for Potion of the Power of Light, a consumable that absorbed about 70% of incoming damage for a short moment when hit. It was a standard item everyone brought to prepare for sudden wipe mechanics. At Dohee’s call, the entire raid instinctively spammed their Light Pots.

The sandstorm swept across the field without giving the raid any time or space to dodge, draining nearly a third of their HP. Without the potion, they probably would have lost more than half.

— Yo, nice call, GoSupp?

Yeojin teased with a playful tone, but Dohee didn’t hear a word. His mind was entirely focused on timing Batienjine.

Once the sandstorm passed, the Demon Hunter slowly began rising into the air.

“What was the timing in the teaser again?”

It was a question to himself, but Tando answered first.

— I think it was right after the boss fired its guns?

Dohee nodded and turned to Moonhyuk.

“Hyung, I’ll give you the signal when it’s time.”

“Got it!”

The Demon Hunter, now floating in the air, raised its guns skyward. Then, red beams of light poured out, dyeing both the sky and ground crimson. The boundary between earth and sky blurred, and the entire map grew dark. Tando and PrettyHealerHyung were already casting ultimates and healing skills to protect the team’s HP as much as possible.

Dohee ran the question through his mind again and again.

Now?

Should I use it now?

There was no right answer. But as soon as the map turned fully red, Dohee gave the signal.

“Now!”

He hit the hotkey for Batienjine. Five small wisps of light flew out and surrounded his character, forming a transparent shield. But the Demon Hunter’s attack landed just a split second before the shield fully activated.

[System] ‘Demon Hunter’ raid failed.

[System] Returning to entrance shortly.

“…”

“…”

Dohee and Moonhyuk were both speechless. It had been so close.

Even while staring at the failure screen, all Dohee could think was how close it had been.

— …Goddamn, that’s picky.

Noodle’s voice came through the headset, full of irritation.

The result was a full wipe.

It was already their fifth retry. If they counted all the times they had re-entered before, no one could even keep track anymore. The raid was getting quieter. People were talking less, that meant fatigue was setting in.

Getting repeatedly wiped at the 100-bar wipe mechanic was wearing everyone down, and Dohee felt the same. Even Moonhyuk, who usually cheered them on with a cute little “fighting!”, was now silently staring at his monitor. They wanted to push past 100 bars so badly, but it just wasn’t working out.

The Support had to play a key role here, but nailing the timing was still incredibly difficult. On the second attempt after the first wipe, they tried destroying the statues instead and ended up getting wiped because of the delay. Everyone agreed now: that wasn’t the solution. On their third attempt, the timing was off by a hair, the barrier went up too early and expired just before the wipe hit. The fourth attempt failed because of a mistake during the imprisonment pattern, killing half the team and forcing a restart.

As playtime dragged on, their focus was slipping. Their shoulders felt heavy. It wasn’t just physical fatigue from long hours, it was the weight of pressure.

Before going in again, Dohee replayed the footage of the run, carefully checking the timing. They had decided to take a quick break, some went to the bathroom, others for a smoke. Honestly, smoking didn’t even cross Baek Dohee’s mind. Right now, all he cared about was solving that 100-bar mechanic.

“It’s seriously, like, a single tick off.”

— I know, right? I think the first attempt had the closest timing.

Yeohoo and Moonhyuk were reviewing the video together.

“I’m rewinding to that first attempt now.”

— I’m back. Ah! I have a suggestion.

Tando had returned from the restroom and spoke up. Dohee welcomed the input, at this point, any new idea was valuable.

“What’s up?”

— So about that sandstorm when we hit 100 bars. I don’t think it’s a wipe mechanic, even though it feels unavoidable.

— Still, that thing hurts like hell.

Yeojin chimed in, irritated. Tando continued.

— Yeah, for sure. But if we just take it raw and then pop a potion after, we almost fully recover. So I think we should hold off on using ultimates or healing skills until after. Just me and HealerHyung hold our awakenings and heals.

“And?”

— So we take the storm head-on, chug potions, then the Support uses Batienjine, and right after that, we use our awakenings and heals. If we pop everything early, the cooldowns won’t be back in time to cover the Support’s Divine. Even if they time it perfectly, follow-up care would be hard.

“Ah, got it. Yeah, let’s go with that.”

— Wait, what are you guys talking about?

Noodle came back from his smoke break, but no one really explained.

“Just drink a potion when you get hurt. The rest gets handled.”

— Huh? Whatever, okay then.

Dohee squinted hard at the footage and played the wipe frame-by-frame at 0.25x speed. He skimmed the chat window, but nothing useful had been posted. Just then, Moonhyuk, sitting beside him, clapped his hands with a loud smack and spoke up.

“Oh! I think I figured out the timing!”
