by Soothing JellyA short while later, several doctors in white coats knocked on the door and filed in.
They examined Fu Siting again and asked a series of questions. They quickly reached a conclusion.
One of the doctors showed them an X-ray.
“Mr. Li, look closely. There’s a small blood clot stuck here on the back of the patient’s head, right here. Because of its tricky location, it wasn’t visible in the previous X-rays.”
“So, this blood clot is causing the amnesia?” Li Fei frowned slightly, staring intently at the X-ray.
“Most likely.” The doctor adjusted his glasses.
“But please rest assured, the blood clots can theoretically dissolve on their own. Ten days to two weeks, at most a month. By then, they will no longer be pressing on the nerves, so there’s no need to worry too much.”
“Moreover, during the week Mr. Fu was unconscious, the blood clots should have partially dissipated, so he can still remember who he is.”
“As for the remaining memories, they should gradually return in a few days until he fully recovers.”
“That’s good,” Li Fei nodded, his expression softening slightly. “What if he still can’t remember?”
“We can observe him first, and arrange further treatment if there are any problems. According to general cases, he can recover on his own within a month.”
Li Fei finally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this.
He then turned his gaze back to Fu Siting’s still gray and confused eyes, and smiled helplessly.
“Fool.”
“Do you understand what happened? You have temporary amnesia.”
“You’re quite something, too. You fell down the stairs while walking on flat ground, and a mild concussion caused you to lose your memory directly.”
As he spoke, he habitually reached out to touch Fu Siting.
But as if afraid of accidentally aggravating his state, he only gently ruffled his hair.
Fu Siting’s lips moved slightly.
“I,” he said with difficulty after a moment, “I…I don’t have amnesia.”
“Yes, yes, we know,” the youngest doctor among them immediately chimed in, “Mr. Li told us that you thought you were still in high school this year. Somehow, you just fell down the stairs and time-traveled.”
The young doctor couldn’t help but mimic a movie narrator’s tone: “Hello everyone, this handsome man, after falling down the stairs and opening his eyes, he somehow found himself twelve years in the future…”
“…Ahem.”
“Anyway, you think it’s still 20X3, twelve years ago, and you don’t remember anything from the past twelve years. Including your fiancé and all your friends from those twelve years.”
“But now…it really is 20X5, twelve years in the future!”
“If you don’t believe me, every doctor has the time on their phone; you can check it. If you still don’t believe me, there are passersby on the street. If all else fails, you can watch the news at 7 pm and see what the anchor says.”
“Oh well, anyway…”
“You just hit your head, and your memory is confused, which is why you think those confused memories are correct.”
“But try to accept the reality.”
“You really just temporarily lost your memories of the past twelve years due to blood stasis, so you mistakenly thought you’d traveled through time.”
The doctor said, sitting down, taking out his phone, opening the camera, and turning the lens towards Fu Siting. “Let me first enhance the sense of reality for you, Mr. Fu.”
“You’re already twenty-eight years old.”
“You’re really not a sixteen-year-old anymore, don’t believe me? Look for yourself.”
“…”
The doctor’s phone was a new model Fu Siting had never seen before, with sleek lines and a folding screen.
Before Fu Siting could figure out how the screen could fold, his face was clearly reflected in the selfie camera.
He stared at that strange yet familiar face.
The angles of that face were indeed his. Even if he had changed a bit, he wouldn’t be unable to recognize himself.
However, it was clearly him, yet he didn’t look quite like him.
Compared to his malnourished appearance in high school, he was much more handsome now. Although he had slept for many days and looked disheveled and a bit decadent, he was still good-looking when he put on his best.
However, it was clearly a… mature, handsome, and healthier version of him, something Fu Siting had never imagined he could become.
The time displayed on his phone did indeed point to 20X5, more than ten years in the future.
The scenery outside the window wasn’t the snowy winter he remembered, but rather the vibrant green of summer.
Cicadas chirped incessantly.

A day later, Fu Siting was discharged from the hospital.
Only after leaving the hospital did he realize that he was actually abroad.
Only the private hospital had an all-Chinese doctor and nurse team. The streets outside were a tropical city shaded by coconut trees, with white, Mexican, and black people flowing about.
But none of that mattered anymore.
After all, this was just… a trivial matter among all the things that had left him bewildered and speechless these past two days.
His mind was still a mess. He was exhausted, had barely slept a wink, and was still feeling dizzy and disoriented even after being discharged. He was led into the nanny van with his hands and feet ice-cold.
Li Fei’s hands were always warm.
As if sensing his coldness, he gently warmed them for him.
Fu Siting had been touched by him many times over the past few days, gradually relaxing from his initial stiffness.
In the car, he even cautiously and somewhat presumptuously leaned on Li Fei’s shoulder. He was very sleepy.
Although he knew that falling asleep in this state was a luxury, he was really drowsy. In his hazy state, he heard Li Fei answer a phone call, his voice very low: “Yes, he didn’t sleep well yesterday, so he was discharged early.”
“He’s too nervous, and I hope he can get a good night’s sleep when he gets home.”
“It’s okay, no stomach pain.”
“No obvious emotional problems, no somatic symptoms.”
“Yes, I will definitely observe and pay close attention. Thank you, Dr. Xu, I’ll call you again if anything comes up.”
The car quickly took the two of them back to their home in the suburbs.
It was a villa complex that resembled an entire park. As the car slowly drove in, the scenery along the way was so overwhelming that Fu Siting had to perk up again.
The neatly trimmed lawns were as green as if they had been washed by rain, and the staggered shrubs cast dappled shadows. In the distance, the azure, shimmering swimming pool was faintly visible, like a sapphire embedded in a green belt.
The level of luxury surrounding the entire area far exceeded Fu Siting’s expectations.
The place where the car stopped was a secluded detached villa.
A red-roofed, fairytale-like castle, its grey-white brick walls surrounded by tall, straight coconut palms and pine trees. In the small garden in front of the villa, roses, tulips, and many other flowers he didn’t recognize intertwined in a vibrant display. A fountain spouted from an exquisitely carved stone statue, creating ripples that sparkled in the sunlight like scattered diamonds.
“…”
Was this really their home?
To Fu Siting, it felt more like a small castle.
He got out of the car in a daze, his gaze reflecting the unreal surroundings, forcing him to reaffirm his instilled belief, it really was twelve years later.
He was clearly sixteen-year-old Fu Siting.
Yet he had transmigrated into his body twelve years in the future, facing everything his future self possessed.
Of course, only he believed this so far. Everyone else still insisted he was twenty-eight-year-old Fu Siting, only confused due to a brain hemorrhage.
As for the claim of “transmigrating twelve years in the future”… firstly, none of his friends who came to see him believed it.
They exchanged glances, while the handsome young man with the small tiger teeth was genuinely pleased, chuckling, “Xiaofei, look, there’s nothing to worry about.”
“It turns out that the sixteen-year-old high school student, Ting-ge, isn’t much different from the twenty-eight-year-old. Just as imaginative and whimsical!”
The doctor, even more resolute, his face serious and academic, patted Fu Siting sympathetically:
“Mr. Fu, cough, although you only have high school memories now, you did study high school physics, right?”
“You know time flows in one direction, right? Even if you didn’t learn that, you at least learned the second law of thermodynamics, right?”
“‘Heat cannot spontaneously transfer from a colder object to a hotter object, but only from a hotter object to a colder object’—the second law of thermodynamics states that there is an irreversible process of entropy increase in nature. This process can only proceed in one direction, from a low-entropy state to a high-entropy state. And the unidirectional nature of time is related to this entropy increase process…”
“In short, we must believe in science.”
“Time travel, scientifically speaking, simply doesn’t exist, understand? Although you’ve temporarily lost your memory, please think it over carefully.”
Then, the doctor turned to Li Fei, his voice filled with helplessness and sorrow: “It’s alright, Mr. Li. If he insists on thinking this way, let him think it way for now.”
“It’ll be fine in ten days to two weeks.”
“Yes, yes, don’t worry, it’s not schizophrenia, not split personality, and not a mental illness.”
“It’s just temporary amnesia caused by a blood clot compressing a nerve; it’ll be fine once it’s dissolved. These next few days, the patient’s family should offer him support and not scare themselves.”
“…”
Of everyone present, only Li Fei patiently and attentively listened to Fu Siting’s arguments. He tried his best not to laugh throughout.
But in the end, he couldn’t help it. Li Fei’s smile with his eyes lowered was very handsome, even brighter and more captivating than in the candy commercial.
…
During the next day of his hospital stay, Fu Siting quietly noticed that the twenty-eight-year-old Li Fei liked to touch him.
He stayed with him in the ward, peeling apples, quietly reading, or replying to work messages. But every now and then, he would come over to look at him, touch his face, and nuzzle his ear.
Li Fei’s fingertips were burning hot.
So much so that several times, Fu Siting was caught off guard and instinctively wanted to dodge. Once, he did manage to dodge, and Li Fei’s fingers froze in mid-air, but he didn’t show any disappointment or sadness, only a pair of dark eyes quietly watching him.
“Don’t you like me touching you?”
At that moment, Fu Siting clearly heard his own labored breathing.
“…No.”
“…”
“Then why do you dodge?”
Probably because every touch from Li Fei was indeed too scalding.
Even just being calmly stared at by those dark eyes, Fu Siting felt as if his chest and back were on fire. Too many unfamiliar sensations overwhelmed him; his mouth was dry, he felt helpless and uncomfortable.
“I’m your boyfriend.”
After a long while, he heard Li Fei say calmly.
“Even if you have amnesia, you can’t just say you’re not.”
“…”
For a moment, Li Fei’s eyes were no longer the reserved and gentle ones they used to be. Instead, he resembled… the low-key, unassuming young master Qing Gang in a movie he later starred in.
Elegant, calm, but undeniably authoritative.
Though his attitude was gentle, his eyes conveyed, “You’d better get used to it.”
Fu Siting remained silent.
…
And now, he stood in his “own garden” in a foreign land, looking at the neatly trimmed pine trees, the gently flowing fountain, and his castle-like home.
At this moment, distinguishing between time travel and amnesia seemed pointless.
There was just one thing…
Fu Siting stood silently in the center of the garden, the sunlight warm and real on his skin. There were even pigeons in the yard, landing on him and cooing twice, their little claws scratching his skin a little painfully.
Whether it was time travel or amnesia, since he, at twenty-eight, could still stand in this yard…that meant that twelve years later, he was still alive?
That meant he had overcome stomach cancer, successfully achieving the 20% to 40% chance of survival, right?
Li Fei: “Yes, my darling is the strongest and most amazing, of course he beat the illness.”
“Don’t worry, we have two checkups every year now, and all the indicators are good. You’ll be healthy from now on.”
“…”
Whether on screen or in behind-the-scenes interviews, the sixteen-year-old Li Fei that Fu Siting saw was mostly aloof, noble, and unapproachable.
So even in his imagination, Li Fei wasn’t someone easy to approach.
But the reality was that the “aloof” Li Fei wasn’t taciturn.
He liked to touch people, didn’t reject physical contact, and even took the initiative to hold his wrist the whole way, his palms warm.
Fu Siting was pulled along like this, in a daze, until they arrived at the door.
When they stopped in front of the entrance, his face was suddenly cupped in warm hands again.
“We’re home,” Li Fei said.
“After you get home, just focus on recovering and don’t overthink things, my darling has had his share of hardships, but he’s always overcome anything, and this time will be no problem either.”
“…”
“Also, you’re really cured. Look at how firm your waist is now, thanks to my efforts.”
As he spoke, he suddenly pinched his waist.
Sixteen-year-old Fu Siting froze silently, his movements instantly slowing.
The day after he transmigrated twelve years into the future, he finally lowered his head for the first time to notice his physique at twenty-eight.
At sixteen, he was malnourished, with no flesh on his skin, his ribs clearly visible.
But at twenty-eight… his physique was excellent. He looked slim in clothes, but underneath were well-developed eight-pack abs.
His waist, too, looked slender, but when Li Fei pinched it, there was a layer of strong muscle.
“…”
Fu Siting’s expression was strange.
He still couldn’t believe it. At sixteen, he was a complete mess.
How could his twenty-eight-year-old self possess such an unimaginably beautiful house and such a great physique?
Even more important… he also had Li Fei.
Twenty-eight-year-old Li Fei had shed some of his youthful naiveté, and every gesture was even more captivating. It was the kind of charm that could take your breath away with just one glance.
Why was someone like this beside him… the Li Fei that Fu Siting could only gaze at through a glass window, seen from afar through a screen, untouchable, a figure in the clouds.
Why was he actually his boyfriend?
Fu Siting had been trying to recover for a whole day, but he still couldn’t shake the feeling.
He couldn’t understand what he was capable of having Li Fei…
In the hospital, his handsome and beautiful friends told him a lot. Back then, at sixteen, Li Fei had acted in many movies, won international awards, and released albums, he was already incredibly successful. Now, twelve years later, Li Fei was an all-time leading man. Why would someone like that be with him?
They also said they had been living together for two years, their relationship sweet and harmonious. Two months ago on an island, it was Li Fei who proposed to him.
It was Li Fei who took the initiative to propose.
There were photos, even a video of the entire proposal.
The moment Fu Siting heard this, his heart stopped, his breath caught in his throat, and only his expression remained barely calm.
He dared not show any emotion, afraid that the slightest movement would shatter everything. He would suddenly wake up from his dream and find himself locked in a mental hospital.
Everything was just a hallucination from his madness
… But sixteen-year-old Fu Siting wouldn’t even dare to have such a dream.
His wildest fantasies about the future weren’t as unrealistic and insane as this.

The Author’s note:
The explanation of “a stroke causing him to forget 12 years of memories” not only explains everything but is also more plausible than time travel.
From Li Fei’s perspective, he genuinely believes his husband has amnesia, not time travel, and that he’ll recover in half a month. Therefore, he’s not too worried; he even finds the amnesia version rather endearing.
