“I shall descend to the land and watch over mankind.”

When the Holy Dragon—the most cherished being of the Heavenly Emperor—descended to the mortal realm to care for mankind, the people of the world worshiped and sang his praises. As the ages turned, his descendants established a vast and mighty nation: the Kingdom of Mir.

The ‘Mirs’ were blessed with divine gifts—divine power, telekinesis, strength, and wisdom. However, the mortal human vessel was never meant to hold the weight of dragon’s blood. The burden was too great, plaguing the Mirs with agonizing bouts of madness. Taking pity on the dragon’s lineage, the Heavenly Emperor breathed his own life force into new beings and sent them to the land as the ‘Maru.’

Paired with the blue-glowing Marus, the Mirs were finally freed from their torment.

The Maru: the only ones who can cool the Mir’s fever and soothe their pain.

The Maru: a soul bound to the Mir’s very life.

And so, the Mirs’ obsession with their Marus became deep, wild, and boundless…

Ye-hwi, the tragic Fourth Prince of the Mir Kingdom, was born with abilities far surpassing those of his brothers. Yet, because of this overwhelming power, he has been haunted by a madness more severe than any other prince in history.

While visiting the Kingdom of Ansi in disguise, he crosses paths with Yoo-ha. Mistaking the prince for a runaway slave, Yoo-ha offers him a position as his personal servant.

“It will only be for a short while. Just until I can find another servant.”

Ye-hwi is stunned. He cooled my blood? But he isn’t a Maru?

To Ye-hwi, unless a Maru possesses an exceptionally pure bloodline, they are indistinguishable from ordinary humans. Yet this man—a plain, ordinary person who isn’t even a Maru—has quelled his fire?

“I will not sign a contract,” Ye-hwi declares. “Instead, I will set the conditions: I leave whenever I wish. If you can accept that, I will go with you.”

At Ye-hwi’s words, the man looks at him, his eyes shining with relief and joy.

“And one more thing. This final condition is the most important.”

    “Tell me,” Yoo-ha replies.

    “We must share a room.”
