by Slashh-XOAlmost everything that could be smashed inside the house had already been destroyed by Mu Yuan. The underlings, scared out of their minds, had all fled outside to hide.
The moment they saw He Dongying arrive, their savior, they let out a cheer and rushed to surround him.
“Ying-ge, thank God you are here! I knew you would not be cruel enough to leave us behind!” Mu Yuan’s close follower, A Zhi, was so emotional he was nearly crying.
The house was a complete wreck. He Dongying looked down at the broken glass scattered around his feet and casually kicked a piece aside.
“What the hell happened here?” He Dongying clicked his tongue in annoyance.
A Zhi shook his head helplessly. “Honestly, we do not even know. Boss went out earlier tonight, and when he came back, his face was darker than coal. He grabbed anything within reach and started smashing it. Even us innocent ones got dragged into the mess. You know what Boss’s temper is like. Once he blows up, not even nine bulls could pull him back. The only one who can calm him down is you, Ying-ge.”
The other underlings chimed in.
“Boss’s right hand was fractured, and he had a cast on it. Tonight when he came back, I saw the cast were already torn off. His hand is even more swollen than before. If he keeps thrashing around like this, how is his hand going to survive? We are all freaking out. Ying-ge, please, think of something.”
The underlings babbled all at once, pleading with He Dongying.
He Dongying waved his hand. “Alright, enough. All of you go home tonight. I will handle him.”
He Dongying’s words were like a calming pill. Once the underlings were reassured, they finally left.
He Dongying stepped over the mess of broken furniture and junk scattered across the floor, then headed upstairs. He stopped in front of Mu Yuan’s room and knocked on the door.
“Mu Yu?” he called out.
No response.
He Dongying placed his hand on the doorknob, gave it a slight twist, and found that it was not locked. He pushed the door open and walked in.
Mu Yuan was lying stiffly on the bed, staring at the ceiling with dead fish eyes, looking like he had given up on life. Hearing the footsteps, he turned his head to glance lazily at He Dongying before flopping back into a lifeless sprawl.
“A Zhi and the others, they all left?” Mu Yuan asked.
“You think they would stay here just to keep being your punching bags?” He Dongying shot back bluntly. He dragged a chair over, sat down in front of Mu Yuan, crossed one leg over the other, and slowly pulled a pack of cigarettes from his pocket. He lit one up and took a few drags.
Holding the cigarette between two fingers, he pointed it at Mu Yuan, smoke curling from his lips.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Look at the mess you made. You almost tore the house down. Who pissed you off this bad?”
“My mood is fucked. Get out and leave me alone,” Mu Yuan said, still staring up at the ceiling lifelessly, not even sparing He Dongying a glance.
“We have been brothers our whole lives. After your second uncle passed away, I am the only one left who is close to you. If I do not give a damn about you, who else will?” He Dongying flicked the ash from his cigarette onto the floor.
He had known Mu Yuan since they were kids. Mu Yuan’s temper had always been explosive. Over the years, the number of fights and arguments Mu Yuan got into was countless. Every time he blew up like a volcano, he would storm over to He Dongying, venting non-stop like a machine gun that had the trigger stuck.
But today, Mu Yuan was completely out of character. He stayed silent. That was not normal.
He Dongying rapped his knuckles against the bedside table.
“Say something. What the hell happened?”
“I don’t know how to say it,” Mu Yuan muttered, feeling the frustration boil back up at the thought of that bastard Wen Shang.
“When the fuck did you turn into such a whiny little bitch? You sound like a goddamn woman.”
Mu Yuan suddenly sat up straight.
“No, really. I just… I don’t know how to talk about it.”
After a pause, he added, “And even if I tell you, I don’t think you can help me.”
“You let me check your asshole before. What the hell could be worse than that?”
The moment Mu Yuan heard the word “asshole,” his whole body jolted like he had been electrocuted. He shivered uncontrollably.
He was not usually the type to beat around the bush, but this time was different. This time it was too fucking humiliating.
After wrestling with it for a while, Mu Yuan finally opened his mouth.
He lifted his eyes cautiously to look at He Dongying.
“Dongzi, I will tell you, but only you. You have to promise me one thing first. You cannot let anyone else know about this.”
He Dongying stretched his arm forward and punched Mu Yuan in the chest.
“Fuck you. How many years have we been brothers? After all this time, you are still scared to tell me shit like this? Do you see me as your brother or some kind of rat?”
“Alright, alright, I will tell you,” Mu Yuan said quickly, patting his chest to calm him down. “Remember a few days ago when I came home drunk and told you my ass hurt?”
At first, Mu Yuan spoke with a flat tone like he was just telling a story. But the more he talked, the angrier he got. The moment he mentioned Wen Shang’s name, it was like he wanted to grab a knife and chop him into eighteen pieces.
He Dongying was stunned. He sat there frozen, not even noticing the cigarette in his mouth burning down to the filter.
He had guessed all kinds of scenarios before, but never in his wildest dreams had he imagined it would turn out like this.
“Fuck that bastard! Tell me, from head to toe, which fucking part of me looks like a woman?”
He Dongying stroked his chin and squinted at Mu Yuan, looking him up and down.
“Not even close.”
“Exactly!” Mu Yuan’s voice cracked from how worked up he was. “I am a hundred percent a real man, no tits, no ass. How the fuck did that dead scumbag pervert even get it up?!”
“Dongzi, I am telling you, if I do not get revenge for this, I am not fucking Mu Yuan anymore!”
“So what are you planning to do?” He Dongying lit another cigarette.
Seeing him smoke made Mu Yuan’s craving flare up too. He reached out and took one from him.
“As for that…” Mu Yuan exhaled a long stream of smoke. His irritation seemed to ease a little.
He jerked his chin toward He Dongying.
“You got any good ideas?”
“There is one,” He Dongying said lazily, “but I am not sure if it will work.”
Mu Yuan’s eyes lit up immediately. He scooted closer.
“Come on. Spill it.”
“There are usually two ways to get revenge on someone. Either go after the people close to him, or go after him directly,” He Dongying said.
“I only want to get back at him,” Mu Yuan replied immediately.
He Dongying nodded and continued, “The best revenge is not making someone suffer physically. It is making them break down mentally.”
“How do I hit him with a psychological blow weighing ten thousand tons?” Mu Yuan asked, his face lighting up with excitement.
He Dongying spread his hands. “Seduce him. Make him fall for you. Then crush him. Play with his feelings until he is eating out of your hand, and when he least expects it, dump him hard. Nothing is more satisfying.”
Mu Yuan:”….That has got to be the dumbest fucking idea I have ever heard.”
