To outsiders, it looked like ever since Chen Xiucheng twisted his ankle, he had become completely dependent on Wu Jinshan.

He needed Wu Jinshan for class, needed Wu Jinshan after class, needed Wu Jinshan for meals and even for taking a dump. No matter where he went, Wu Jinshan had to come along. He was like Chen Xiucheng’s human crutch, personal assistant, and loyal servant all rolled into one. Without him, it was as if Chen Xiucheng couldn’t take care of himself at all.

But no one would believe it even if he said it out loud. The truth was, Wu Jinshan was the one who insisted on looking after him.

When he needed to use the bathroom, Wu Jinshan had to help him.

When Chen Xiucheng went to shower, Wu Jinshan had to assist.

When Chen Xiucheng was eating, Wu Jinshan insisted on feeding him.

Chen Xiucheng admitted that he did place the blame for his twisted ankle squarely on Wu Jinshan and demanded he take responsibility. Compensation was expected, and if necessary, Wu Jinshan had to fulfill his duty of care.

But this level of caregiving was ridiculous. He had a sprained ankle, not paraplegia. Yet Wu Jinshan was treating him like he was severely disabled.

In the shower room, Chen Xiucheng sat with his legs spread awkwardly on a bath chair meant for assisted care. His posture was stiff and uneasy. The injured foot was wrapped in a waterproof cover and propped securely on another stool.

Wu Jinshan was also naked, bustling around beside him. He first helped wash Chen Xiucheng’s hair, massaged his scalp, then squeezed out some body wash and began scrubbing his body.

Chen Xiucheng had tried to mentally prepare himself for this. He told himself it was no different from the communal showers back in high school where all the guys were naked together. But now, alone in a stall with Wu Jinshan, something about it felt off.

Those broad, slightly rough hands rubbed over his chest and back, then moved lower along his abdomen. Chen Xiucheng’s thigh gave a faint involuntary tremble.

Half an hour earlier, Wu Jinshan had insisted on feeding him soup.

It was seafood tofu stew from the cafeteria, a dish both of them liked. They had agreed to share it equally, but Wu Jinshan insisted on feeding it to him by the spoonful, alternating between them.

Chen Xiucheng thought that was completely unnecessary. It wasn’t like his hand was broken, and he certainly didn’t need his foot to eat. He tried to take the spoon and feed himself, but just as he reached out, the soup seemingly lost the will to live and spilled all over the floor.

Fortunately, Wu Jinshan had taken it well. He immediately cleaned up the mess and took Chen Xiucheng to shower.

These past two days, Wu Jinshan had taken the initiative to wash his clothes and clean up the dorm. While there were no major faults, it still left Chen Xiucheng with an inexplicable sense of discomfort.

Maybe Wu Jinshan’s antics had just leveled up again, he thought.

Just like now, those hands kept brushing dangerously close to his inner thighs. Every time it seemed like they were about to touch his dick, they would veer off, causing him to react in ways he could not control.

Lately, Chen Xiucheng had noticed a disturbing trend. His dick seemed to have a mind of its own, constantly betraying him with erections at all the wrong times. Especially now, when Wu Jinshan was diligently scrubbing him, and he himself looked like the pervert.

He did not know whether he should say something, but his gut told him not to. His ass had only just recovered, and he could not handle any more “accidents.”

Still, he had to admit, Wu Jinshan was good with his mouth. He did know how to make him feel good. On a certain level, he was very attentive. This made Chen Xiucheng seriously reconsider that “mouth for ass” theory Wu Jinshan had once proposed. Maybe it was not so far-fetched after all.

But then again, Chen Xiucheng had always believed he was straight. A straight guy asking another man to suck him off, what the hell kind of logic was that?

Moreover, the guy was his roommate. Given Wu Jinshan’s recent behavior, he could generously be considered an ordinary friend. Having a friend do this sort of thing was not exactly respectable.

Chen Xiucheng figured he might just be using Wu Jinshan as a stand-in for a woman. After all, a mouth was a mouth. Did not matter if it was male or female. It should feel about the same.

Maybe Wu Jinshan thought the same way. As long as it was a man with a hole, it probably felt the same.

As that thought crossed his mind, Chen Xiucheng realized the foam had already been rinsed off his body. Wu Jinshan was now silently standing beside him, jerking himself off again.

Wu Jinshan met his gaze with perfect composure and even asked casually, “Not jerking off?”

Chen Xiucheng felt a lump in his throat. “My foot hurts. No strength.”

“Then wait until your foot heals before jerking off.”

    Before jerking off.

    Right.

Chen Xiucheng nearly crushed the bottle of body wash in his hand. God knew how much courage he had summoned to almost say the second half of his sentence,“why don’t you help me,” only to choke on it and force it back down.

Bathing and peeing together made sense. His foot was injured, it was inconvenient, Wu Jinshan helping out was reasonable.

But why did Wu Jinshan insist on standing beside him even when he was trying to take a dump?

“My foot is twisted, not my entire body,” Chen Xiucheng said lifelessly, sitting on the toilet as if trying to reason.

“Can you leave? I can’t shit with you standing there.” Honestly, even farting was a struggle. His asshole was clenched so tight it felt like it was trying to save his dignity.

Wu Jinshan looked troubled. “What if your foot suddenly starts hurting halfway through? Then it means I failed to take proper care of you.”

His foot would not suddenly hurt, but if Wu Jinshan did not leave, his head definitely would.

“You’re doing an amazing job. If anyone dares say you’re not, I’ll chop them up myself.” Not that he meant it. If anyone needed chopping, it was Wu Jinshan.

Still, Wu Jinshan wasn’t completely hopeless. He at least knew when to quit. As annoying as he was, he had a knack for pulling back just in time. Maybe that’s what made it all the more unbearable.

“Alright, take your time. I’ll head out. Just call me when you’re done.” On his way out, he even took Chen Xiucheng’s phone from the sink so he could concentrate on his business. Then he waited patiently outside the door.

Aside from the fact that the dorm beds were too narrow for two people, Wu Jinshan seemed desperate to eat, sleep, and even share underwear with Chen Xiucheng.

Around that time, the counselor reopened their previously rejected dorm reassignment request, but it was rejected.

Mainly because Wu Jinshan refused, saying Chen Xiucheng had a twisted ankle and needed to be looked after.

The counselor was so moved that he praised them for weeks for being brothers through thick and thin.

Whether it was real brotherhood, Chen Xiucheng could not say. But Wu Jinshan definitely deserved a beating.

Wu Jinshan took all of Chen Xiucheng’s requests seriously. Three meals a day were delivered without fail. Snacks and drinks were never in short supply. Every day, he even brought him a bottle of pure milk.

It wasn’t until the third day that Chen Xiucheng noticed the stamp on the bottle. It read “Liangshan Pasture.” The clean white packaging showed a real photo of grassy plains with cows and sheep grazing. Curious, he asked, “Is this your family’s farm? Can I go visit?”

“Of course.” Wu Jinshan immediately slipped into official-sounding spiel, as if reading from a brochure. “Liangshan Pasture offers public tours. As long as you buy a ticket, you can enter and experience the joy of livestock farming.”

“If I’m buying my own ticket, what do I need you for?” Chen Xiucheng’s face fell at the cold response.

Wu Jinshan quickly changed his tune and promised to take him there for free over summer break, which managed to cheer him up quite a bit.

To save time, Wu Jinshan even went to the nearest sporting goods store and bought a foldable scooter, making it easier to shuttle quickly between the cafeteria, the dorm, and the teaching building where Chen Xiucheng had class.

At one point, Lin Lu saw him and asked if Wu Jinshan could bring him a meal too, since he was already going anyway.

Not only did Wu Jinshan refuse, he even calculated the time and energy it would take to make the trip, the potential wear and tear on the scooter, and then listed out a whole set of costs before pulling out a QR code for Lin Lu to scan and pay.

Lin Lu was so furious he shouted after him, “Wu Jinshan, you’d better pray you never need help from anyone in your life!”

Later, Lin Lu brought the matter to Chen Xiucheng to complain, but Wu Jinshan had no idea how that turned out. What he did know was that Chen Xiucheng never brought it up or seemed to mind.

Whenever there was free time, Wu Jinshan would even take Chen Xiucheng to play basketball. Though calling it “basketball” was a stretch, Wu Jinshan would shamelessly push his wheelchair into the court and grab the ball, then toss a three-pointer and chalk it up to Chen Xiucheng’s score, solemnly praising, “Nice shot, Brother Cheng!”

Chen Xiucheng was completely speechless. He sat in the wheelchair, bounced around until he was dizzy, and had not done a single thing. Should he praise himself or not?

Well, since Wu Jinshan was calling him “Brother Cheng” so enthusiastically, he figured he might as well give himself some credit.

In this chaotic mess of a life, over a dozen days passed. By the time Chen Xiucheng’s foot had almost fully healed and the bandages were removed, he was able to walk normally again. The very next day, someone in the dorm suggested they should celebrate, drive away the bad luck, and everyone readily agreed.

When Wu Jinshan found out, he scoffed, “You finally healed, now you should rest. Instead, you’re out partying again? You’ll end up hurting yourself from having too much fun.”

But Chen Xiucheng believed that as long as Wu Jinshan did not interfere, his life would be nothing but fun, no disasters in sight.

Upon closer reflection, he realized his recent streak of bad luck and the mess his life had become could all be blamed on the concentration of Wu Jinshan in the air.

While his foot was injured, he could not visit other dorms, played fewer games, chatted less, and every time he opened or closed his eyes, all he saw was Wu Jinshan’s face. He was getting seriously sick of it.

Now was the perfect opportunity to hang out with classmates and friends, strengthen their bonds, and finally enjoy some happy moments without Wu Jinshan.

“This kind of indulgent binge eating has no real value,” Wu Jinshan still rattled off his joy-killing opinions. “Grilling produces carcinogens, street vendors are unhygienic, the ingredients are easily contaminated, and your foot just healed. You shouldn’t be eating greasy or spicy food.”

Chen Xiucheng was in such a good mood he did not want to argue. He planned to ignore him and walk away, but just as he passed, he was grabbed mid-step. Wu Jinshan clutched his wrist, and his tone had a hint of urgency as he said, “What time tonight? I’m going too.”
