by LiliumChapter 97: Did Husband Like Me a Little More Today?
What unfolded before his eyes was a scene Wen Jue had never witnessed, and Yunchuan’s words nearly made him want to dig a hole and crawl into it from shame. H-He… how could he even talk about things like that with others?!
He remembered how, after they were newly married, he had tried every trick he knew to flirt and seduce Yun Chuan, claiming he was afraid of thunder so he needed a hug, pretending to slip during a bath so Yunchuan would have to carry him out, and constantly using his blindness as an excuse to play coy, forcing Yunchuan to coax him.
Every day, he insisted on a kiss before letting Yunchuan go to court. And before Yunchuan left, he would feign meekness and ask carefully, “Did Husband like me a little more today?”
The first time he asked that, Yunchuan blushed and fled without a word.
But by the second and third time, Yunchuan began smiling by his ear, whispering, “Yes.”
By the fourth and fifth time, Yunchuan would say, “If Zhiyu could… today, I’d like Zhiyu even more.”
So Yunchuan had seen through his act from the start, and played along with it all. That rogue…
Still, Wen Jue had no choice but to watch and listen.
Jiang Chuang was still grinning foolishly, resting his chin in his hand, basking in sweet memories of being with Wen Jue. The three men at the table exchanged awkward glances.
Zhuge Qing clicked his tongue. “Next time we drink, don’t invite him. He’s always like this since he got married.”
Huang Guang: “Seconded!”
Chen Lin: “Can’t second it…”
Zhuge Qing and Huang Guang both burst out laughing.
The dream ended.
Wen Jue slowly opened his eyes. Darkness once again returned to his vision. He froze for a moment before realizing, he was blind again.
Someone held his hand. Yunchuan’s anxious voice came from beside him: “Zhiyu, how are you feeling?”
Wen Jue recalled the final scene before waking. His cheeks turned faintly red, he couldn’t face Yunchuan just yet. It was so embarrassing.
He had thought he’d seduced Yunchuan thoroughly, only to realize Yunchuan had been humoring him the whole time, playing along with his act. And even worse, he had shared those things with others!
At that thought, Wen Jue said nothing, only pushed Jiang Chuang away and slowly sat up on his own by bracing against the bed.
Jiang Chuang thought he was still angry and unwilling to speak to him. Remembering the things he’d seen in the dream, the past he never knew, his heart sank, and he fell silent too.
Bai Yuan, puzzled, asked, “Why are they even quieter now that they’re awake?”
“Ancestor, what exactly did you show them? Why are they reacting like this?”
A wisp of green mist circled the two of them. “What they saw in the dream was the same, everything was a reversion to what once happened. After the reversion, everything starts anew. If Jiang Chuang hadn’t retained his memories, it would have been as if none of it ever happened. So, do you have any more questions?”
Wen Jue shook his head. Bai Yuan saw that he still seemed a bit down. “You still can’t let it go?”
Jiang Chuang looked up at him nervously, only to see Wen Jue curl his lips faintly and shake his head slowly. “I got the answer I was looking for. Sorry for troubling everyone this long.”
Bai Yuan sighed in relief. Finally, no more drama.
Jiang Chuang carefully reached out to hold his hand, calling gently, “Zhiyu…”
Wen Jue took his hand first, interlacing their fingers. He lowered his voice and said with guilt, “I’m sorry.”
Those three words nearly brought Jiang Chuang to tears. Now it was his turn to be unable to let go of the past he had seen.
He never imagined that Wen Jue had been captured by Prince Yi only because he had wanted to go see him, and had suffered inhuman torment as a result, losing all will to live.
If it weren’t for him giving Prince Yi military power and trusting him, how could Prince Yi have found the chance to exploit the situation?
It was his fault…
“Zhiyu…” Jiang Chuang began to speak, voice hoarse, but couldn’t finish.
Wen Jue thought he was still upset and, mindful of others around them, lowered his voice. “Let’s talk more when we get back… okay?”
