The Obsessive Young Master and His Little Attendant (Part 2)

The servants all bowed together and greeted, “Welcome back, Young Master.”

“Uncle Wang.” Gu Chen noticed the two unfamiliar faces in the living room. His gaze paused for a moment on the youth standing behind the man before shifting away, as he asked casually, “And these two are?”

Ning Shu stood still. He did not know why, but the moment the boy’s eyes landed on him, an instinctive feeling rose within him that this person was anything but simple.

“Young Master.” The butler took his schoolbag and spoke respectfully. “This is Mr. Ning, who will be taking over my duties. And this is his son, Ning Shu. The Master heard he was also in high school, so he arranged for them to move in together. He thought you could use some company.”

Gu Chen let out a light, mocking laugh. It was indeed something his father would do.

He glanced at the youth. His appearance was overly delicate, with fair, clear skin and a pair of eyes that were warm and soft, giving him a rather pleasing look.

But that was all there was to it.

Young Master Gu never wasted unnecessary attention on someone insignificant.

He nodded slightly and said calmly, “Then I’ll be heading up. Uncle Wang, I don’t like a string of mistakes happening after you leave.”

A chill went through Ning Shu’s father.

The boy was clearly only in his teens, yet he carried a dangerous air that made him instinctively tense.

He leaned close to his son’s ear and whispered, “Xiao Shu, from now on, do not upset the Young Master. Understand?”

    Ning Shu nodded.

He watched Gu Chen’s retreating figure. He had come here to increase the other’s favorability, so naturally, he would not do anything to make Gu Chen unhappy.

Yet he had not expected that—

In the very next second, as if he had eyes in the back of his head, the boy turned sharply. His gaze cut across the room and landed on Ning Shu, sharp and unblinking, like a dangerous beast fixing its gaze on its prey.

Ning Shu’s heart lurched, suddenly beating faster.

The color drained from his lips.

He could not help shifting his gaze away.

Ling Ling said, “Host, you cannot do this. Acting like that will not help you gain the target’s affection.”

Ning Shu voiced his thoughts. “I don’t know why, but I’m a little scared of him.”

In his previous life, he had not interacted with many people. He had always been the sort to go unnoticed, while his younger brother was the one everyone revolved around. As a result, he was somewhat at a loss in social situations, let alone when facing someone like this boy. On the surface, he appeared flawlessly handsome, gentle, and easy to approach. Yet beneath it all, he was cold and indifferent to the core.

The butler knocked on the door.

When Gu Chen opened it, he said, “Young Master, where would you like Mr. Ning and his son to stay?”

Gu Chen replied indifferently, “You do not need to ask me about small matters like that. You know I do not like people being too close to me.”

The butler understood. “Certainly, Young Master.”

The Gu family’s villa was enormous, with more than enough rooms.

They did not lack two extra ones, although the lighting and placement varied. In the end, Ning Shu was assigned a room at the very back of the house, but he was more than satisfied.

After all, for a prestigious family like the Gu family, even the least desirable room held a level of comfort and luxury beyond what ordinary people could imagine.

Ning Shu’s father had to study the rules and etiquette required to work for the Gu family. Fortunately, he had experience in similar jobs, which was why Gu’s father had hired him.

Meanwhile, Ning Shu began unpacking his luggage.

    * * *

As the young master of the Gu family, Gu Chen lived with strict self-discipline. He aimed for perfection in everything. Even his schedule followed a precise routine.

Every Wednesday and Thursday night, he would review his piano lessons, even though he had already earned several certificates at his age.
