by MochiThe Obsessive Young Master and His Little Attendant (Part 5)
Gu Chen lifted a brow.
If he wasn’t mistaken, the emotion in the youth’s eyes… was pity.
His gaze lowered slightly, a trace of amusement tugging at his lips.
Since birth, Gu Chen had been surrounded by countless gazes of admiration, awe, and even envy, yet never once had anyone looked at him the way this person did.
This little thing… is he over-imagining things?
Did he think Gu Chen was starved for affection?
Lonely?
Gu Chen thought silently. He didn’t need any of that, and he even found the youth’s assumptions a bit naïve.
But he didn’t expose it.
Instead, he asked with interest, “From now on?”
Ning Shu nodded. Facing the noble, breathtakingly handsome boy, he grew nervous. “If Young Master doesn’t mind…” He paused, then continued, “And during meals, I’ll try not to make any noise that might disturb you…”
This was the only method he could think of to raise the affection value.
Gu Chen stood up and gracefully wiped his fingers. His phoenix-shaped eyes landed on the youth. That obedient, yielding appearance didn’t inspire disgust. On the contrary, some people would feel the urge to break him just to watch those eyes fill with tears.
He curved his lips. “Alright.”
Ning Shu froze for a moment, surprised that the boy agreed so quickly.
Especially when he noticed that Gu Chen seemed to have finished breakfast already. He put his own utensils down as well.
But then he heard the boy’s indifferent voice. “You’re full?”
Ning Shu hesitated, then nodded.
He didn’t believe someone as disciplined as Gu Chen would wait for him over something as trivial as breakfast.
“You’re sure?”
The boy’s expression settled into something between a smile and no smile at all, unreadable and deliberate.
Though he made no move, Ning Shu felt an invisible pressure bearing down on him, heavy and oppressive.
“If I hear your stomach growling today…”
Gu Chen’s gaze deepened, his voice dropping lower. “I’ll throw you out of the car.”
Ling Ling couldn’t help commenting, “Oh my, this mission target is quite ruthless~”
Ning Shu also felt his scalp tingle. He hurriedly shoved food into his mouth.
Both his cheeks puffed out, just like a squirrel hoarding nuts.
Gu Chen’s gaze fell on his face.
A faint amusement glimmered in his eyes.
“Slow down. No one’s taking it from you.”
And with just that small moment, Gu Chen’s affection value rose by another two points.
Ning Shu had a feeling Gu Chen had scared him on purpose.
But why?
He was a little confused. Did Gu Chen find joy in watching him embarrass himself?
What kind of twisted hobby was that?
To Ning Shu, the boy felt even more dangerous, like a beast at his side, unhurriedly extending its claws while its gaze remained fixed on him.
At times, it would flick out a claw without warning.
And that alone was enough to frighten him out of his wits.
Ning Shu tried his best not to fear Gu Chen. After all, this was his designated target. But that instinctive reaction whenever he got close to the boy… wasn’t something he could lie to himself about.
Like now, after they got into the car—
Ning Shu automatically shifted away, putting more distance between them, as if that was the only thing keeping him calm.
“You’re afraid of me?”
Gu Chen spoke unhurriedly.
Ning Shu looked up, only to see those amused, half-smiling eyes locked onto him.
He pressed down the surge of emotion rising in his chest and forced himself to meet the boy’s gaze. It felt like he was reminding himself as much as answering. “I… I’m not afraid of you.”
Gu Chen let out an ambiguous laugh. His long legs, elegantly overlapped a moment ago, slowly drew back.
He leaned toward him.
