RACA 39
by Leviathan“This wasn’t something I wanted to happen, and it was done by someone related to me by blood. I wanted to make it clear that I have no reason to take responsibility.”
“But you signed the contract too, right? To get 3 million a month.”
Pyo Jaebeom interjected. At his words, Eunsol tilted his head slightly and retorted.
“That was simply choosing the best option available in that situation.”
“Quite the go-getter, huh?”
“Of course. I’m someone who knows exactly what I’m capable of.”
“Cooking in a flash, cleaning in a snap. Isn’t 3 million a month enough for that?”
“It’s not enough.”
Pyo Jaebeom’s lips twisted into a crooked smile.
“What else is there?”
Chairman Jang watched Eunsol and Pyo Jaebeom bickering with intense fascination. This was more entertaining than his favorite baseball game.
He’d never seen an Omega stand up to Jaebeom like that before. And he certainly hadn’t expected such a petite, pretty beauty.
Hmm… Come to think of it, he kinda resembles that furball Jaebeom keeps around?
Though their features differed, the upturned corners of his mouth, the tip of his nose, and his eyes widening into round circles all vaguely reminded him of Pyo Jaebeom’s cat.
Just as Eunsol was observing Chairman Jang intently, Chairman Jang was also scrutinizing every detail of the omega clinging to Jaebeom’s side in this situation.
If he wanted to, obtaining information about this omega would be no trouble at all. But he deliberately refrained from doing so because of Jaebeom, the man who could ghost anyone Chairman Jang tried to attach to him.
‘I should have come sooner!’
What a delightful spectacle this creature provided. Chairman Jang laughed, revealing every wrinkle in his face for the first time in ages.
“You seduced a drunk man into bed, he got pregnant, and now you say you won’t let him go until you give birth? Isn’t that the natural consequence?”
“What about the money your father swindled?”
“That was the CEO who got scammed. It’s not my responsibility, is it?”
“Unfortunately, the contract was written in your name.”
“I didn’t sign it, so it’s invalid!”
“But your seal was on it. Do you really think you can just wriggle out of this?”
Eunsol choked back tears at those words, then recalled a colleague who’d once studied for the bar exam rambling drunkenly.
‘If I sue, I’ll win, right? What was it… he said something about it being in the Civil Code!’
He couldn’t recall the complicated clauses about identity verification or whatever, but he remembered clearly that he would win.
“Do you even have the money to sue?”
Eunsol glared at Pyo Jaebeom’s irritating sarcasm. Money was tight, but admitting he was right felt like admitting defeat, and he hated that.
Chairman Jang could listen to their bickering all day without getting bored.
Unfortunately, the topic had reached a point where he couldn’t stay silent.
“Hold on, stop right there!”
Just as Eunsol was about to fire back, he shrugged his shoulders and looked at Chairman Jang. Even in his agitation, he listened to the adult’s words, and Chairman Jang, pleased by this, gladly took his side.
“If the contract was drawn up against your will, it should be corrected. If that’s the issue, I’d be happy to help.”
“Huh?”
“Listening carefully, it sounds like unauthorized agency.”
What’s that? Eunsol tilted his head in confusion. Chairman Jang stroked his chin and kindly added an explanation.
“It means someone without agency authority signed a contract without permission, which is grounds for cancellation. Plus, if they secretly used your seal and even your ID, that’s forgery of official documents, which could lead to criminal charges.”
Eunsol blinked in disbelief at the legal jargon coming from the gangster chairman’s mouth. Conversely, Pyo Jaebeom gave him a suspicious look, wondering what kind of shady deal this guy was trying to pull off.
“And if the person who signed the contract proceeded without even confirming with you, that would be considered negligence, rendering the entire agreement null and void, right?”
“Wow… How do you know all that in such detail?”
“Ahem, well, I am a man who deals in money, after all.”
Thinking about it again, he was truly not just confident but downright brazen. Eunsol found himself looking at Pyo Jaebeom without thinking. He tilted his head as if asking why he was staring at him.
‘I wondered who he took after to be so arrogant… and sure enough…’
They may not share the same blood, but they’re clearly father and son. Though mentioning that would likely upset both of them.
‘That’s not so bad?’
If they fought, wouldn’t it be best to just watch quietly and then side with whoever seemed more advantageous?
“Then what about the baby in your belly? Are you going to raise it alone?”
How could he say something so infuriating? After all, he contributed to the pregnancy!
“Oh, Jaebeom, you. That’s not the way to talk.”
Eunsol gave Chairman Jang a flabbergasted look as he got even more angry than he did. He was partly to blame for this mess, having pushed multiple Omegas onto Jaebeom.
“Why? Did I say something wrong? That guy’s penniless, if he leaves like this, he’ll end up sleeping on the streets! His so-called father pocketed 500 million won by selling his son and vanished. The grandmother who supposedly took care of him? Her whereabouts are unknown.”
At the mention of “grandmother,” Eunsol’s gaze shifted toward Jaebeom. He wasn’t sure whether to feel relieved or creeped out that his words hadn’t been dismissed as idle chatter, but had been investigated separately.
“And when I went to the house you supposedly lived in, there was nothing there. You’re in this mess, and you want to cancel the contract?”
“How did you know that?”
“How did I know? Because I investigated everything. I checked the place you mentioned. Nothing was there.”
“Haha…”
Did he really go that far? Strange. Why did the corners of his mouth feel like they were twitching? Eunsol should have felt annoyed, but they kept trying to turn up, which was frustrating.
Chairman Jang, who had been quietly observing the two, couldn’t help but speak up.
“Are you two flirting in front of an old man? Goodness, it’s infuriating. Isn’t that right, Secretary Kim?”
Eunsol’s eyes widened as if they might pop out of his head.
Flirting? Flirting? Who? Me and Pyo Jaebeom?
“It’s not like that!”
His voice rose in indignation. He turned to Pyo Jaebeom, ready to demand he clarify the truth, but Jaebeom frowned.
‘Why is he acting like that?’
He realized the reason almost immediately. He probably hated the idea of being in a relationship with him.
“No, it’s not. The way he’s going on about the kid and the house is ridiculous. So, Jaebeom, what are you planning to do? Looks like you’re in a tough spot. You should be even nicer to his now.”
“Chairman, please don’t worry about it. I’ll handle it myself.”
“Handle it yourself? The way you’re acting, I think you’ll regret it later. Don’t you agree?”
Eunsol found Chairman Jang’s subtle glances at him rather baffling. He couldn’t figure out when he’d met him to be acting so familiar.
‘He really does seem like a real estate boss.’
Among Grandma’s close friends was a real estate boss with a similar vibe to Chairman Jang. He was the benefactor who’d secured Eunsol’s apartment. Because of that connection, he’d often invite him out, for meals, drinks, or neighborhood strolls, which sometimes felt awkward.
That man felt like a neighborly old uncle to Eunsol, but Chairman Jang? They’d only met today.
“Ahem. Seems you still don’t quite trust me.”
Quick wit truly comes from experience. Eunsol scratched his head awkwardly, averting his gaze.
Then his eyes met Pyo Jaebeom’s, and he flinched.
What the hell.
It felt like he’d been staring right at him this whole time.
“So you want to nullify the contract?”
Right. This conversation with him wasn’t over. Chairman Jang had suddenly interrupted, causing him to temporarily lose track.
Of course, Eunsol knew. Just because he wanted it didn’t mean it could happen. As Pyo Jaebeom said, he didn’t have the money for a lawsuit.
‘Wait, I do have money?’
To the two people in front of him, it might be a drop in the bucket, but he does have a bank account where his salary gets deposited. It’s a bit ironic that the one giving it to him is Pyo Jaebeom.
“Well… I’ll think about it.”
There’s someone willing to help him after just meeting him, and he has money of his own. So he can afford to play hard to get a little.
At that, Pyo Jaebeom chuckled again. He didn’t seem flustered or offended, which only made Eunsol suspect he had some ulterior motive.
“Of course you should! Even if you’re living together and expecting, if you don’t trust him, you have to test him a little.”
Chairman Jang chimed in like a spectator. But his tone sounded like unsolicited advice to a newlywed couple, which really rubbed him the wrong way.
“I said I’d think about it, not that I’m testing him.”
