by Firefly“What?”
Jaebeom frowned, clearly not expecting Eunsol to react this way. A fleeting look of bewilderment flashed in his eyes.
“I’m pregnant, you know. So I have that right too. I don’t think it’s something the CEO should be arguing about.”
“Huh?”
Jaebeom crossed his arms and stared at Eunsol. It seemed like he was putting on this show because of what Chairman Jang had said earlier. Jaebeom felt he needed to make him properly realize his situation.
“You seem to be under a delusion. Didn’t I tell you earlier? Do you really think you could raise that child? Can you even properly take care of yourself? What do you have? Do you have a home? Do you have a family?”
I’m so sick of hearing that.
“Even if I don’t have any of that, as the CEO said, Chairman Jang will probably take care of it himself, right?”
“Huh?”
Eunsol, who had finally coaxed out another “Huh?” from Jaebeom, pushed his dining chair back with a scraping sound.
“Finihed eating? Then let’s move seats and revisit the contract discussion.”
Then, Jaebeom gave Eunsol a look of bewilderment as he promptly walked out of the kitchen. Soon, his gaze shifted to Bulgom, who was busily observing the two of them.
“Did anything else come up with him while I was gone?”
“Nothing except Kwak Sang calling to check if the CEO got home safely!”
“Kwak Sang?”
“Yes!”
Though there had been various rumors about Eunsol, Bulgom quietly kept that topic hidden, judging it not something to bring up now.
But Jaebeom, who scrutinized not just facial expressions but even the glint in someone’s eyes when they spoke, couldn’t possibly have failed to notice.
“What? If you have something to say, say it now.”
Faced with his immediate pressure, Bulgom couldn’t hold out any longer. It seemed better for his own good to spill everything now, it was going to come out later anyway.
If he doesn’t do it, he’ll definitely contact Kwak Sang right away. But waking someone who’s resting is also out of the question.
“Well,CEO. Hasn’t Kwak-sang been investigating sister-in-law lately?”
“Yes.”
When Eunsol’s name came up, Jaebeom raised his eyebrows. It wasn’t displeasure, but closer to skepticism, why were they discussing him? What did he have to do with them?
But for Kwak Sang and Bulgom, this concern was only natural. After all, it wasn’t just anyone, it was the Omega their boss had brought into his very home.
‘At first, I really thought it would just be about having a baby.’
Bulgom silently repeated the words he couldn’t bring himself to say to Jaebeom. The atmosphere that day when he first met Eunsol unfolded exactly as he had anticipated.
Even when the order came to monitor the apartment entrance, he had thought that much was only natural.
But when Jaebeom decided to give up hotel life and stay at home, Bulgom started to feel something was off.
His hunch turned into certainty the moment Jaebeom told him to go inside and cook and clean. Of course, the stated reason was Eunsol’s pregnancy, but given the Jaebeom he’d known, this kind of action was unusual.
“I just said that as I looked into it, he turned out to be more upright than expected, and the only real issue was his father causing trouble. If we just deal with that side, there shouldn’t be any more headaches going forward.”
Even when Kwak Sang compiled the information he gathered, it showed he was truly a hardworking college student.
His grades were good, and his relationships with peers weren’t bad either.
‘And a bright personality.’
That’s the best part. People can’t always be lively, but Eunsol has adapted well to the current situation.
He even knows how to embrace difficult situations positively. To Bulgom, that was exactly the kind of person Jaebeom needed most.
The Omegas Chairman Jang had introduced him over the years were delicate, pretty, and well-behaved, but there was no way they could handle Jaebeom’s temperament.
It would be better to be like Eunsol, seemingly observant yet speaking his mind.
‘It’s not just about saying it, you have to be able to show it through your actions.’
It sounds easy enough, but putting it into action is another matter entirely. Yet Eunsol knew how to do that difficult thing with conviction.
“Why?”
“Just because he seemed like a decent person.”
“Lee Eunsol? You think so?”
Watching Bulgom nod without hesitation, Jaebeom uncrossed his arms. How could Chairman Jang and his subordinates give such positive evaluations after seeing him only a few times?
‘At least that much is worth acknowledging.’
But that was as far as it went. Jaebeom had no intention of putting up with Eunsol’s constant nagging. He figured if he started giving in even once, he’d just wear himself out.
‘That won’t do.’
Eunsol is best just as he is now. Doing what he’s told, enjoying his food, and playing peacefully with Jongjong.
This was the last time someone else should meddle between them and cause such a mess. As Eunsol insisted, changes were needed.
“Fine. Let’s hear what Lee Eunsol wants.”
Jaebeom also soon left the kitchen.
Eunsol took hold of the contract Jaebeom had tossed to him and walked out. He sat on the sofa and checked the contents before he appeared.
“What would you like to change?”
As soon as Jaebeom stepped into the living room, he dove straight into the main topic. Eunsol lifted his eyes from the documents and looked up at him. His slouching posture clearly showed that Jaebeom was in a bad mood.
“Please note that I also have rights regarding the child.”
“Huh?”
He raise his eyebrows at the insistence that he would do exactly as he said. But Eunsol also wanted to be absolutely clear on this point.
Just as he told Jaebeom, so they wouldn’t regret it later.
“I said no, right?”
“Why? Do you think I’d use that as an excuse to ask the CEO for something?”
Eunsol asked exactly as he had said earlier. There was no accusation or mockery in his voice, but Jaebeom himself seemed uncomfortable.
“I don’t expect anything from the CEO.”
“If you don’t expect anything, why say that?”
“But the child is a different matter. Above all, I don’t expect you to raise the child properly.”
“Huh?”
Even if he tried that, it wouldn’t make much of a difference. Eunsol was certain.
As long as Pyo Jaebeom couldn’t regain his original memories, he didn’t know what the future held for the child growing inside him.
Didn’t he clearly realize through the meeting with Chairman Jang earlier that all this was just a scheme to confront him?
All this time, even when the contract was somewhat unreasonable, he kept quiet because his priority was simply to survive.
But watching the child gradually assert their presence was no easy task.
‘At the very least, I have to let them live happily.’
Just as he lived happily with his grandmothis even without parents. Even if it happened unexpectedly, he wanted his own child, born of my blood, to experience that too. Now it was time for him to fulfill his role as a parent. So the child could grow strong, surrounded by love at least as deep as mine, no, even deeper.
“So just add that clause. If you do that, I won’t say another word.”
“So all this time, you were just doing nice things for me because of this?”
Eunsol briefly wondered why Jaebeom looked disappointed, but something more important than gauging his mood came to mind.
“No. That’s a different matter.”
A hint of relief flahed in his eyes at the reply.
‘What the hell? Why is he acting like that?’
Noticing that the expression that had been turning menacing was softening up a bit, Eunsol seized the moment and spoke again.
“Is that all I need to add? Is there anything else you want?”
Plus, his attitude, acting like he’d agree to anything, was suspicious. Is he just saying that now, planning to change his tune later?
Eunsol squinted his eyes as Pyo Jaebeom reached his hand forward.
“What?”
“Hand over the contract.”
“Why?”
“You said we should revise it? Then we need to look at the contract, right?”
Eunsol, who had been watching Pyo Jaebeom with suspicion, waved his hand and quietly handed him the paper.
Only after taking the documents did Pyo Jaebeom sit down on the sofa. Not on the opposite side, but right next to him. Eunsol was startled and quickly moved aside.
“Why, why here, over here…”
Unlike him, who was flustered and even stammering, Pyo Jaebeom remained calm. He merely glanced at Eunsol and, without any particular response, pulled something out from his pocket.
It was a fountain pen that looked quite expensive even at a glance. As he watched, wondering what he was going to do, Pyo Jaebeom stared back at him intently.
“Say it.”
“Huh?”
“Just say out loud what you want.”
