The place he reached was the kitchen. He panted, opened the shelf, and he took a frying pan. His eyes looked vicious as he swung the pan. Eunsol bit and he walked back across the living room to the entrance.

“Let’s see if you still won’t answer now!”

He held the frying pan handle, and he swung his arm.

    Kang! Kaang!

    Kang! Kang! Kangkang!

Every time he hit the door, the blasts hurts his ears. His wrist started hurting m, so Eunsol corrected his grip with both hands on the handle.

    “Call your boss out here!”

He shouted, and just then, before he hit again.

    Click.

He heard the sound of the lock releasing. Eunsol clutched the frying pan, and he waited for the door to open. Soon, a tough face stuck out through the half-opened crack.

“Hey, can’t you keep it down? You’ve no consideration for the neighbors.”

He said those words with a face that anyone would call gangster, and tried to close the door again. Eunsol quickly slipped the frying pan handle into the gap to block it.

    “Huh?”

The gangster, who understood late, let out a startled gasp. Eunsol rushed to speak before the other side acted first.

“Contact him right away. This is really important!”

“You think our hyung-nim is someone who moves because of your words?”

    “I’m not lying?”

His insistence made the gangster hesitate. Then, in a softer tone than before, he asked.

    “What is it?”

“He said what you want is my pregnancy, right? That can’t happen! I told you it absolutely can’t!”

Eunsol tried to appear as sincere as possible. Maybe it worked, because the gangster hesitated. Eunsol judged he had to drive the nail in, and he quickly added.

    “I’m not an omega!”

That was why Eunsol hadn’t properly understood the contract at first. Because he was a Beta.

    “…What?”

“Dragging time won’t help you. So hurry. I don’t know where you got it wrong, but contact him fast!”

His loud shout made the gangster hesitate, then he finally gave an order to the subordinate next to him.

“Hey, call hyung-nim. Tell him the omega here is talking nonsense.”

    “Yes, Gwak Sang-hyung.”

From the voices outside, Eunsol learned that there were at least two men outside the house.

“Yes, boss. This is Sang. Nothing else, but there seems to be a problem with the omega in the house. What? No. He didn’t run. He was beating the entrance door with a frying pan.”

“Excuse me. I’ll speak. Please give me the phone!”

Eunsol anxiously reached out his hand through the door crack,m. The gangster with the fierce face tried to stop him, but when he saw the suddenly hand, he halted.

    “Take it.”

    Eunsol quickly snatched the phone.

“Hello? Boss? It’s me. I think you’ve got it wrong.”

    -What trick is this?

Pyo Jaebeom’s curt voice came from the receiver.

    “It’s not a trick. I told you, there’s been a mistake?”

    -Mistake?

“I’m a Beta! How am I supposed to get pregnant?!”

    -What?

“I’m telling the truth? If you don’t believe it, I can go to the trait center right now and show you proof!”

Maybe he felt the desperation in Eunsol’s voice, because Pyo Jaebeom fell silent.

-Don’t lie. Your father even got me a trait certificate that says you’re dominant.

When he heard the hypothesis he had briefly thought of come from Pyo Jaebeom, Eunsol wavered for a moment, he wondered if he had really possessed a character and his trait had changed, but he calmed himself. Since he hadn’t confirmed it himself, and only heard it from someone else, he couldn’t be sure it was true.

    “I told you it’s not. Look, that’s a drama story. I’m a Beta, I said?”

Above all, I’m not a protagonist in some drama. My name, my appearance, my condition are all the same, so how could my trait suddenly change!

    -Wait.

Pyo Jaebeom spoke one word, then he cut the call. Eunsol handed back the phone that had no more use, and he pulled the frying pan handle out of the door crack.

    Click.

The obstacle was gone, and the door locked again in an instant. He didn’t even fully hear the sound, and he paced around the living room. He stared at the contract.

How long had he been sitting like that?

    “Test him.”

The door opened, and Pyo Jaebeom appeared. A woman in a suit with silver-rimmed glasses stood at his side. Eunsol stared at her, wondering who she was and the woman came toward him first.

“Would you sit on the sofa?”

Eunsol, who looked stunned, quietly went to the sofa and sat down.

“Excuse me, are you a doctor?”

“Yes. It’s for a trait test, right? We’ll run a pheromone reaction sensor test with blood and saliva.”

The doctor gave a brief explanation, and she first drew blood, and after that she dabbed Eunsol’s tongue with a sterilized swab. While the analyzer ran, she attached patches to his wrist and his nape, and she waited for the results to appear on the tablet.

While the test continued, Pyo Jaebeom crossed his arms, and he quietly watched the process. Eunsol glanced at his face, but unlike how he usually let emotions show faintly, his indifferent face showed nothing.

    “The results are out.”

A moment later, the doctor opened her mouth. She lifted her eyes from the screen, and she looked at Pyo Jaebeom and spoke.

“He is an Omega. From the pheromone levels he is dominant.”

    “What? Me?”

Eunsol jumped to his feet and shouted because the words were unbelievable.

“Yes. The levels are quite high.”

    “That can’t be true…”

Even with the added explanation, he couldn’t believe it, and he finally turned his eyes to the screen. There the words “Omega” for sex differentiation trait stood in red.

    “Uh, this, what is this…”

It even showed that he was dominant, and the pheromone reaction levels were beyond the standard level.

    “Ha… Lee Eunsol.”

He heard him call his name through clenched teeth, Eunsol flinched. He slowly lifted his eyes from the tablet. Pyo Jaebeom, with one corner of his mouth curled, seemed to be weighing what to do about this.

“No, I mean, listen. I’m really not an Omega…”

It was strange. How did this happen? He had lived his twenty-seven years as a Beta, so why did it suddenly change?

“The Military Manpower Administration test said I was Beta too!”

He shouted in grievance, but the result didn’t change. The doctor’s hands tidied faster in the roughened mood.

“But what now? It says Omega now.”

“No, I mean, there’s no way?”

“Well, fine. If you don’t believe it.”

Pyo Jaebeom let out a short laugh, and he suddenly turned to the entrance.

“Gwak Sang-ah, drag that doctor out.”

    “Yes, hyung-nim!”

The gangster with the rough face he had seen earlier came in with another man. The doctor’s face went pale at the sudden situation.

    “W-why, me, why…”

“Why? He says so. He says the result is wrong. Since you dared to lie, you have to take responsibility.”

What was that responsibility supposed to be?

    “Ah! W-what are you doing?!”

Startled, Eunsol quickly shielded the doctor. Even if they were gangsters, how could he talk so casually about dealing with a person?!

“Do you think a human life is like a fly’s! You, you’re saying something outrageous!”

He flailed his arms as he argued, and then he realized the surroundings had grown quiet. Why was that? Eunsol was puzzled, he looked, and sneaked a look at Pyo Jaebeom.

Still standing with arms crossed, when their eyes met, he smiled.

‘Why is he smiling like that?’

    It made anyone watching shiver.

“This is actually an interesting thing.”

Jaebeom quietly observed Lee Eunsol, who rolled his eyes here and there, watching his mood. He stuttered, he shrank, but if one watched closely he sometimes acted boldly. It was like he was trying to act timid, but he couldn’t pull it off. And because it was so clumsy, it was obvious what was inside.

Like that night when he ate in the kitchen saying he was hungry, or now when he blocked him without fear.

“That bastard dares to block someone?”

Gwak Sang scowled and stepped ahead. He seemed about to grab Eunsol’s thin shoulder, but Jaebeom tapped his forearm.

It was a small gesture, but Gwak Sang’s arm hit the back of his hand, and surprised, he jumped back.

    “S-sorry, hyung-nim!”

“Gwak Sang-ah, didn’t hyung-nim tell you not to do that? Are we thugs, hm? You doing that makes him misunderstand us.”

Jaebeom spread both arms, and he gestured at Eunsol who stood guarding the doctor. Even then Eunsol seemed to know those words were about him, and he quickly opened his small lips.

    “I didn’t misunderstand!”

Of course he had. He had even called him boss. Remembering that ridiculous title, Jaebeom laughed again.

Now that he thought about it, he’s a funny guy. It’s a talent for an Omega he brought in just to bear his child to be wielding this much influence over him.
