When Gu Weiyang returned to the office, Su Shijin was still sitting on the sofa watching a drama.

The omega held a pillow in his arms, leaning forward slightly, looking incredibly obedient.

“Back?” Su Shijin heard the door open and looked up, just meeting the alpha’s gaze as he walked in.

“Mm, there’s nothing planned for the rest of the day. Want to go home?” Gu Weiyang asked, closing the door behind him and restraining the urge to lock it, then walking over to him.

Su Shijin didn’t buy that nonsense about having no plans—he clearly hadn’t left work until seven or eight last night.

“Going home isn’t urgent. You finish up your work first, and we can leave when it’s time for dinner,” Su Shijin said.

Gu Weiyang sat down beside him, his pinky brushing against the omega’s fingers unintentionally, but he pretended not to notice and asked, “What are you watching?”

“An historical drama. I’ve forgotten the name, but it’s quite interesting.” Su Shijin noticed Gu Weiyang’s little move and found it amusing. Acting casually, he slipped his fingers out from under Gu Weiyang’s pinky and handed him a few cherries. “Want some?”

As Gu Weiyang instinctively reached out to take them, a sudden thought struck him, and he abruptly stopped, pressing his hand back onto the sofa.

“I’ll eat,” Gu Weiyang said, lowering his head and taking a cherry directly from Su Shijin’s palm with his mouth.

The alpha’s breath was warm, and Su Shijin could even feel that he was a little nervous, his breathing slightly uneven as it fell onto Su Shijin’s palm.

Then the soft lips brushed against his palm, carrying an impossible-to-ignore sensation, before taking a cherry into his mouth.

“Mmm, very sweet.” Just after putting it in his mouth and before even biting, the alpha blushed and averted his gaze, awkwardly praising it.

Su Shijin’s fingertips curled slightly, but compared to the alpha, who had gotten flustered from teasing someone else, the omega remained much calmer.

He could even continue teasing the alpha, sliding the remaining two cherries in his palm toward him, a faint smile on his lips as he asked, “There are two left, want them?”

Gu Weiyang, like a hopeless big dog, spat out the cherry pit, propped himself up on the sofa with his arm, leaned slightly to the side, and lowered his head again to take the cherry from Su Shijin’s palm.

Being so close to the omega, he could even catch a faint scent from him.

It wasn’t the smell of pheromones, but a rather fresh fragrance of perfume.

Perhaps because the omega was more indulgent this time, the alpha felt bolder than usual.

He flicked out the tip of his tongue, licking across the omega’s palm and drawing the cherry into his mouth.

Then he lifted his eyes to look at the omega, as if observing his reaction, and bit into the ripe cherry flesh.

Su Shijin remained as calm and composed as ever, seemingly unaffected by the desire gradually rising in the alpha’s eyes.

    “There’s one last cherry.”

Su Shijin wanted to see just how far Gu Weiyang could go, so he raised his hand, showing him the last cherry in his palm.

    “Want it?” he asked.

At this moment, no matter how gentlemanly Gu Weiyang tried to be, facing the omega he liked—letting him tease him twice without dodging or avoiding it, and even inviting him a third time—the alpha’s natural instincts couldn’t be completely restrained, and his gaze toward the omega began to stir with desire.

I should’ve just locked the door earlier, the alpha thought.

Su Shijin, however, seemed oblivious to the way Gu Weiyang’s gaze had grown darker, even carrying an unspoken desire. With an unchanged expression, he moved the cherry in his palm toward Gu Weiyang’s lips, a silent prompt.

Gu Weiyang’s Adam’s apple rolled, and he couldn’t shake the feeling that Dr. Su was teasing him.

But for the time being, Gu Weiyang still hadn’t managed to shake off the mindset of an unrequited lover. All the chaotic thoughts in his mind remained just thoughts, too timid to act on, for fear of startling Su Shijin or making him uncomfortable.

So when the third cherry was in his mouth, Gu Weiyang still managed to suppress the desire stirring within him, only letting his lips brush lightly against the omega’s palm, as if leaving a kiss in his hand.

“Alright, I’ll get to work first.”

Gu Weiyang spat the pit of the third cherry into the trash, not daring to linger any longer near the omega, and practically fled back to his own desk.

Su Shijin’s palm still held a slight dampness, the lingering trace left from the alpha’s tongue the second time.

Mr. Gu was even more innocent than he had imagined.

Su Shijin watched Gu Weiyang sitting at his desk, handling documents, when a thought suddenly popped into his mind. “Mr. Gu.”

“Hm?” Gu Weiyang’s heartbeat had just begun to settle but being called out of the blue by Su Shijin made his heart start racing again.

He looked at the omega sitting on the sofa, put down the pen in his hand, and tried to make his voice sound as calm as possible as he asked, “What’s wrong?”

Su Shijin looked at him, hesitating, unsure if it was appropriate to ask at this moment.

Gu Weiyang didn’t rush him; his fingertips lightly brushed against the desk, revealing a trace of unrest beneath his otherwise composed exterior.

Dr. Su wanted to say something? Did he think that what Gu Weiyang just did was a bit too much? Could it be that he regretted liking him already?

On the surface, Gu Weiyang’s expression didn’t change, but inside he was drowning in regret. If he had known, he would’ve held back more. Yet in that moment—come on, as a normal alpha, even if a deity descended from the heavens, they wouldn’t have been able to resist!

And then, in the very next second, the omega asked a question that completely short-circuited his brain.

“Mr. Gu, um… do you, maybe… not have any experience?” Su Shijin hesitated for a moment, but finally asked the question tactfully.

Su Shijin had always thought that Gu Weiyang kept his distance from him purely because of the terms of their agreement and also because he respected him enough. So even when he had a reaction during the desensitization treatment, he always kept it under wraps, never doing anything that would make Su Shijin feel uncomfortable.

Yet today, Su Shijin had clearly confessed to him. By normal standards, when an alpha is faced with an omega they’ve already registered a marriage with—and they like each other too—especially when Su Shijin was deliberately teasing him with cherries, he fully expected the alpha would eventually lose control and come to kiss him but he didn’t.

Not only did he not kiss him, the alpha even just ate three cherries from his palm, turned completely red, and fled in a panic.

So pure it was almost unbelievable.

But could there really be a 28-year-old alpha in this world who had never had any experience? That was even more unbelievable than an almost 100% compatibility rate between an A and an O.

You should know that a normal alpha, after going through their first sensitivity period, would usually look for a stable omega partner or a brief relationship where they can mutually mark each other.

The sensitivity period is just too hard to endure. The kind of pain, like having needles pricking the brain, that even suppressants can’t fully quell, along with the frustration and murderous anger from not being able to release their desires—it’s something very few alphas would willingly put up with.

Mr. Gu is 28 years old this year. Even if his first sensitivity period arrived at 18, and considering the typical frequency of two per year, Mr. Gu would have had at least 20 sensitivity periods that were dealt with using suppressants.

Wait, no. Su Shijin realized he had overlooked something.

Mr. Gu’s glands had been injured.

Because of the injury to his glands, Mr. Gu had difficulty tolerating the pheromones of other omegas and even his sensitivity periods were unstable. So, it seemed possible that he might not have any experience after all.

Su Shijin still wanted to know the answer. With a face full of anticipation for a response, he looked at him again and asked, “You really have no experience at all?”

Gu Weiyang only felt a surge of heat and dryness spread throughout his body from the question.

He picked up the cold coffee next to him, took a sip, and after swallowing, asked, “Why are you suddenly asking this?”

“Ah, if you don’t want to answer, it’s fine,” Su Shijin thought his question was a refusal to respond, so he waved his hand casually. “I just asked offhand.”

The past truly didn’t matter, after all, Su Shijin hadn’t been a part of Gu Weiyang’s life before. Even if there had been other omegas or betas in the past, that was all behind them now.

What mattered most in their relationship was the present and the future.

As soon as he said that, Gu Weiyang became even more restless.

“No, it’s not that I don’t want to answer,” Gu Weiyang said, rubbing his neck and the agitated glands, before reaching into the drawer of his desk to take out a suppressor ring and put it around his neck to prevent losing control due to his emotions. He then stood up and quickly walked over to sit next to Su Shijin.

This time, Gu Weiyang sat very close to Su Shijin. As his weight pressed down on the sofa, Su Shijin unconsciously leaned slightly toward him.

Then, when the omega looked at him in surprise, Gu Weiyang spoke with a very serious expression, “I’m a virgin.”

    Su Shijin: “…Huh?”

“Really!” Gu Weiyang, thinking he didn’t believe him, quickly explained, “I just recently became an alpha. Not long after, my glands were injured. After that, it was all about working various jobs to earn money, paying tuition, and saving up for gland treatment. Even during my sensitivity periods, I had to rely on suppressants to get through them.”

“I’m allergic to the pheromones of other omegas. Just smelling their scent makes me feel pain and discomfort, so it’s naturally impossible for me to be with them.”

“As for betas, there’s nothing either. I’m not the kind of person who’s loose with myself—I haven’t even been in a relationship.”

“Even when there were physical needs during my sensitivity period that suppressants couldn’t fully control, I handled it myself. I’ve never been with anyone else, really!”

Gu Weiyang was so afraid that Su Shijin might think he was someone with loose morals that he explained everything with great seriousness, missing the moment when the omega’s face suddenly flushed, clearly hesitant to say anything.

It wasn’t until he had finished speaking that Gu Weiyang noticed something was off about the omega’s expression.

“Ah, sorry, did I get too close?” Gu Weiyang quickly shifted over, making sure to give Su Shijin some space so he wouldn’t feel uncomfortable.

The omega still wore an expression of wanting to say something but holding back. His long eyelashes fluttered slightly, his fingertips clenched tightly around the hem of his clothes, his cheeks flushed, and his gaze fell on Gu Weiyang before quickly shifting away.

Gu Weiyang felt that something wasn’t quite right. “Dr. Su? What’s wrong?”

    Was his answer unsatisfactory?

Could it be that Dr. Su preferred someone with more experience?

“You… if you prefer someone with experience, well… I’ll go home tonight and watch more videos, I’ll study hard,” Gu Weiyang wasn’t sure why he said it, but his brain seemed to short-circuit, and those words just slipped out.

From the time they had met until now, they had only hugged once, the alpha had accidentally brushed his lips against the omega’s forehead once, held hands once, and the most intimate thing that had happened was today, when he had eaten three cherries from the omega’s palm.

In a situation like this, for the two of them to be sitting on the same sofa discussing matters of “experience,” Gu Weiyang couldn’t help but feel a little dazed.

Su Shijin didn’t let him stay in that daze for long. He pinched his slightly warm ears, afraid the alpha might say something else that would make things even more awkward, and with a red face, he interrupted him, “Mr. Gu, that’s not what I meant.”

    Gu Weiyang: “Huh?”

Su Shijin: “What I meant was whether you’ve marked anyone else before. Not—no, not in that way…”

By the end, the omega’s voice had become so soft it was almost inaudible.

Gu Weiyang, still in the posture of listening, felt his eyes lose their usual brightness.

Some people may seem alive on the outside, but inside, they’re already dead.
