IF LINE EXTRA 1 – He, a man, was pregnant.

    Wrap party.

In the private room, Xu Xishuang leaned back in his chair, lazily scrolling through his phone. He hadn’t eaten much. The others at the table were chatting and drinking, but no one dared to bother him, let alone try to toast him.

After all, Xu Xishuang wasn’t just the second male lead in this idol drama—he was also the biggest investor. Who in their right mind would try to get him to drink?

When word first got out that the eldest son of the Xu family was going to act in an idol drama, the director was terrified. He cautiously asked Xu Xishuang if he wanted the male lead script instead.

But before Xu Xishuang could say anything, his cousin Xu Lu, who had come with him, immediately waved it off and rejected the lead role script. She picked out the infatuated second male lead instead and told the director in all seriousness that the male lead belongs to the female lead but the second male lead belongs to everyone. A breathtaking beauty like her cousin should be the campus heartthrob, the dream boyfriend, and so she firmly chose the senior role for Xu Xishuang.

The director stole a glance at Xu Xishuang’s face and thought to himself, Xu Lu was right.

With a face like that, if he weren’t the young master of a wealthy family, the moment he entered the entertainment industry, he would absolutely become an overnight sensation. Every agent and entertainment company would be fighting to sign him.

Xu Xishuang didn’t really care what kind of script he acted in. He was only doing this idol drama because of a bet with his cousin Xu Lu. As long as he could finish filming and gain 500,000 followers after the show aired, Xu Lu would have to quit reading danmei novels and obediently focus on high school, and think about college afterward.

The idol drama didn’t have any complicated plotlines. It was shot in Hengdian over two or three months and went through review quickly. It would probably be on air before long.

At the wrap party tonight, Xu Xishuang picked at a few bites of food, sent Xu Lu a message saying he was heading back, then turned off his phone. He got up from the table, told the others to keep eating and drinking, and went back to the hotel to rest. He was planning to catch an early flight home in the morning.

Just before he left the table, the female lead of the show quietly reminded him, “You forgot your water bottle.”

“Thanks for the reminder,” Xu Xishuang smiled at her, reached out to grab his blue water bottle, then quickly turned to leave. He didn’t notice the flicker of discomfort on her face.

As he stepped out of the private room, he wasn’t sure if the restaurant owner was trying to save electricity or deliberately creating some kind of dim atmosphere, but the corridor outside was very dark. Xu Xishuang had to take a moment for his eyes to adjust before he kept walking. He had only gone a few steps when he nearly bumped into a tall man who suddenly came around the corner.

    “Sorry,” Xu Xishuang spoke first.

The man was wearing a cap. At the sound, he lowered his head slightly and glanced at him. Xu Xishuang happened to look up, and their eyes met—he froze for a second.

The man’s features were striking. It was sharp and sensual, the kind of face no one could forget at a glance—

    Yan Yushan.

The reigning top-tier actor, the industry’s “tyrant.” A powerhouse performer with award after award under his belt. It was said he had a powerful background. His temper wasn’t great—sharp-tongued, even—but no one dared provoke him, and no one could afford to.

“It’s fine,” Yan Yushan replied in a low voice, his gaze brushing lightly across Xu Xishuang’s face.

The deep timbre of his voice sent a tingle through Xu Xishuang’s ears. Xu Xishuang stared for a second at the tiny mole on Yan Yushan’s left eyelid, suppressed the urge to bite his lip and quickly withdrew his gaze with polite restraint. He gave Yan Yushan a small nod, then walked past him and around the corner.

Xu Xishuang didn’t look back so he didn’t see that Yan Yushan didn’t simply pass by as he had expected. Instead, Yan Yushan stood there for a few seconds longer. Only when Xu Xishuang’s figure disappeared completely did he finally turn and continue on his way.

Back at the nearby hotel, Xu Xishuang set his things down and, for some reason, found himself thinking about that brief encounter with Yan Yushan.

He had to admit—Yan Yushan’s looks were flawless, and every detail hit right on his aesthetic preferences. Even that tiny mole on his eyelid got to him.

His temper didn’t seem nearly as bad as the rumors made it out to be. Xu Xishuang had almost run into him just now, but Yan Yushan hadn’t swung a punch or shoved him away. He had just brushed it off with a quiet “It’s fine.”

Xu Xishuang casually looked up some news about Yan Yushan online and saw that he was apparently filming too—something in the crime drama genre. It had supposedly wrapped up today as well, and their wrap party must’ve been at the same restaurant. That’s probably why they ran into each other.

He scrolled for a while, took note of a few dramas and movies Yan Yushan had starred in, and decided he would check them out sometime—maybe on a flight or during a trip, when he had time to spare.

He unscrewed his water bottle and took a sip, then set it down by the coffee table, getting ready to shower. He had just gotten halfway out of his clothes when his phone buzzed a few times. Xu Xishuang grabbed it and saw a message from the female lead of their show.

Female Lead: “You’re leaving tomorrow, right? Can I come see you tonight and say a few things?”

Xu Xishuang lightly tapped his finger on the screen and paused.

He knew the female lead had feelings for him that went beyond their roles. Maybe it was because of the script—his devoted second male lead character was more likable in real life than the greasy, hot-tempered male lead. More than once during their scenes together, Xu Xishuang had noticed something off in the way she looked at him. Since she never said anything outright, he couldn’t bring himself to reject her directly.

But tonight’s message was as close to a confession as it got.

Xu Xishuang thought about it. He wasn’t planning to stay in the entertainment industry anyway—once this drama was done, he would quit and go back to his life of traveling the world. So he typed out a direct reply: “I’m gay.”

He didn’t mind telling people about his sexuality. Same-sex marriage had been legal for years now, and it wasn’t just in real life. There were plenty of openly gay couples in the entertainment industry too. If being honest could put an end to this situation, then he had no reason to hold back.

The notification at the top of WeChat changed from 【The other person is typing…】 to showing the female lead’s name again. Xu Xishuang waited for about half a minute but didn’t get another message. He figured she’d understood and given up.

Turning off his phone, Xu Xishuang went back to undressing and stepped into the bathroom, ready to enjoy a good soak and relax a bit.

He had only been in the tub for a few minutes when he suddenly felt his body growing hotter, his head starting to swim. It’s like he had stayed in a hot spring for too long.

Sensing that something was wrong, Xu Xishuang forced himself to sit up in the tub. His arms and legs were going limp. His mind felt like it was turning to mush as he struggled to recall when exactly he could’ve been drugged. He groped for the bathrobe on the shelf, barely managing to wrap it around himself, then reached for the bathroom door handle, planning to go out and call a doctor.

The door wasn’t far from the bathtub. It’s just a few short steps but every one of them felt agonizing. The dizziness in his head worsened, and Xu Xishuang couldn’t help but wonder, Just how much had they drugged him? Was this not about his body, but about trying to kill him?

Just a few moments ago, he still had the presence of mind to joke with himself and calmly plan to call for help—but now, panic was starting to take over.

He stretched his fingers toward the handle. Just as he was about to touch it, the door suddenly opened from the outside.

Startled, Xu Xishuang instinctively looked up.

Yan Yushan stood there, the faint scent of alcohol on him. He wasn’t wearing a cap tonight. His hair was cropped short for his role in the crime drama, making his sharp features look even more intense and imposing.

    Xu Xishuang shrank back slightly.

When Yan Yushan saw Xu Xishuang standing in the bathroom, a flicker of surprise crossed his face. He immediately realized he must have grabbed the wrong room card—after all, he already had someone in mind who might’ve drugged him. Instinctively, he ruled out Xu Xishuang and began to speak, “Sorry, I…”

He wanted to explain that he had entered by mistake, that he had just come in hoping to take a cold shower to clear his head—it wasn’t some perverted stunt. He had no idea Xu Xishuang would be here. As his gaze fell on the loosely fastened bathrobe, he couldn’t help but glance lower, from that smooth, porcelain shoulder down to the flat, pale stomach…

His words stalled. He swallowed hard, the suppressed effects of the drug surging back with a vengeance. The last traces of clarity in his eyes were swallowed by desire.

Before Xu Xishuang could say a word, Yan Yushan had stepped forward and gripped his waist. Xu Xishuang watched, wide-eyed, as Yan Yushan tilted his head and kissed him.

The hot, damp kiss left Xu Xishuang nearly breathless. His limbs, already weak, gave out completely. He collapsed into Yan Yushan’s arms, only staying upright because of the other man’s firm grip around him.

Just before being carried out of the bathroom and tossed onto the bed, Xu Xishuang caught a glimpse of Yan Yushan’s slightly reddened eyes. Only then did it dawn on him—something was wrong with Yan Yushan too.

The hand he had been pressing against Yan Yushan’s chest slid down. As his body rocked with the motion, Xu Xishuang finally gave in, letting himself fall into Yan Yushan’s arms. He was simply too dizzy to resist.

Forget it. They were both drugged. Might as well take what they each needed.

The phone rang sharply in his ear. Yan Yushan frowned and reached out absently, expecting to feel something soft and warm beside him but his hand landed on something cold.

He snapped his eyes open and sat up abruptly.

The bed was a mess with pillows tossed to the floor. The room was empty—he was alone.

Yan Yushan stared blankly for a few seconds. As he picked up the call, he walked toward the bathroom. “What?”

“Yan-ge, come out and have some fun!” Jiang Yangze’s voice rang out flirtatiously on the other end. “Didn’t you just wrap your shoot? Come hang out with your bros! I’ve got a race tonight, you have to come show some support!”

After a few seconds of silence, Jiang Yangze asked, puzzled, “Hm? Yan-ge?”

Yan Yushan was staring at his reflection in the mirror—at the marks on his body, on his back. Just one look, and it was obvious how intense things had gotten last night, how rough he had been.

    It wasn’t a dream. And it wasn’t a hallucination.

Flashes of the night before surged through his mind—the pale, cool face pressed into the pillow, slowly flushed with red, melting like frost under warmth, wrapping around him.

Yan Yushan let out a long breath. He said flatly into the phone, “Not going. Hanging up.”

After hanging up the phone, Yan Yushan stood in the bathrooms, dazed for about half a minute, then picked up his phone again, made a call, and had someone investigate who had drugged him the night before—he was ready to sue the person until they were ruined.

“There’s one more person…” Yan Yushan paused. “Forget it, I’ll find him myself.”

After showering and putting on the clothes that had been delivered, Yan Yushan began searching the room. But apart from his own belongings, he found nothing that belonged to the person from the night before.

Clutching his phone, Yan Yushan went downstairs to speak with the hotel front desk.

The person Yan Yushan was looking for was currently asleep on a plane.

Although the first-class bed on the plane was soft, Xu Xishuang didn’t sleep very soundly.

With marks all over his body and a certain unspeakable place still aching, Xu Xishuang wore only a soft undergarment as he lay on the bed trying to sleep.

The marks on his body were indeed a bit terrifying. It was red and purple intertwined, covering nearly every inch of him, even down to his toes and the sides of his legs. In his own words, it didn’t feel like he had spent the night having sex, but like he had been beaten up all night. The other person seemed to want to eat him alive.

Xu Xishuang moved slightly, and that spot started hurting again. He couldn’t help but sigh. Yan Yushan had gone way too hard. Last night, he honestly thought he might die from it. God knows how he managed to drag his body out of bed in the morning, get in a car, and rush to the airport.

He really shouldn’t have been so enthusiastic last night. Sure, it felt amazing, but the aftereffects were brutal. He figured it would take him at least two days to recover.

He never wanted to go through that kind of experience again.

After landing, Xu Xishuang spent another day lying in the hotel room he had booked. He picked up his travel itinerary and pushed all his plans back a bit.

Xu Xishuang had started school early and even skipped a grade, so he graduated from university just after turning twenty. He had decided to take a gap year after graduation to travel the world for a full year. After the trip, he would figure out whether to go to a grad school or start working.

That night with Yan Yushan had been a complete accident. It was totally unplanned.

The day before Xu Xishuang planned to follow a tour guide to climb a snow-capped mountain—also the third day after he had slept with Yan Yushan—he received a WeChat friend request from Yan Yushan.

After thinking it over, Xu Xishuang decided to accept. Given Yan Yushan’s background, there was no way he hadn’t already figured out the truth of what happened that night, so he probably wasn’t reaching out to demand an explanation.

Sure enough, Yan Yushan wasn’t trying to start a fight. After finding out Xu Xishuang’s identity, he fell into a long silence. He originally wanted to offer whatever compensation he could, but with Xu Xishuang’s family background, there was nothing he could offer that the other actually needed.

After some effort, Yan Yushan got Xu Xishuang’s WeChat and waited anxiously. As soon as the request was accepted, he immediately sent over a message he had carefully prepared, sincerely apologizing and then continued to wait nervously for a reply.

Xu Xishuang skimmed the lengthy message. It was mostly a heartfelt apology, and the other person also offered compensation. He didn’t think it was a big deal, so he thought for a moment and replied to Yan Yushan: “It’s fine.”

Xu Xishuang added, “We both got what we wanted.”

It didn’t matter. He had enjoyed himself too, and they were both adults—there wasn’t much more to say.

When no further messages came, Xu Xishuang figured Yan Yushan understood what he meant and turned off his phone.

On the fourth day of being abroad—also the second day after getting back in touch with Yan Yushan—Xu Xishuang experienced the cruelty of society. His wallet and phone were stolen.

The money wasn’t a big deal. He didn’t have much cash, and the thief couldn’t use his bank cards but the phone was a bit of a hassle. Although there wasn’t anything too important on it, just to be safe, Xu Xishuang wiped all his social apps, canceled his number, and applied for a new one, keeping only his family’s contact info.

So, on the second day after adding Xu Xishuang on WeChat, Yan Yushan discovered that he had been deleted.

Yan Yushan replayed his entire conversation with Xu Xishuang in his head over and over, but he still couldn’t figure out why Xu Xishuang had suddenly removed him.

Leaving out some of the facts, he made up a story about “a friend” and went to ask the experienced Jiang Yangze for advice. Jiang Yangze thought for a moment, then casually replied, “Oh, then that person probably really hates your friend.”

    Yan Yushan fell silent.

Far away overseas, Xu Xishuang quickly put the whole thing behind him. He spent three joyful months traveling freely until reality hit him with another heavy blow.

    He, a man, was pregnant.
